I use these tools at work as a wind turbine technician and I’ve been beating the hell out of them for 2 and a half years. Even the tiny ratchet I’ve torqued it sooo hard so many times and I’ve never been able to break it it’s insane quality for the price I’ve snapped Wera brand ratchets gears even but not these gedores

Hi buddy, I was a little shocked at the quality when I opened the box, which I shouldn't have been really because I've always known Gedore tools to be good kit, but I was still blown away by the overall finish and the quality of the ratchets and how ridiculously comprehensive it is for under £100...
@@Moonfleet41 it is the budgetserie from Gedore and not made in Germany but who cares when it is like this 👌. Gedore has a brandname to keep so it can't be bad, it's just ment for the normal guy, and not specialy for garagecompanies, perfect.
@@czondag OK, that makes sense.. but TBH i have old Gedore tool i was given 30 years ago in a blue tin box (remember those, with the cantilever trays), and i can;t tell the difference, they are easily as good..!!! like you said, certainly good enough for me.!

I’m Building a road trip tool kit and I’ve been trying to find a socket set that included plenty of deep sockets and one That went big enough to be useful Incase I run into a suspension issue. WOW I mean just WOW what a socket set! Can't be much more you'll ever need in the way of sockets. Think I may just have to get one of these for a certain young lady for X-mas myself! Phillips and JIS aren't the same bud. Phillips is the old standard before they 'improved' it by creating pozidrive. JIS has a different form and only proper JIS drivers and bits will prevent you from chewing them up!

But almost impossible to find a genuine JIS stockist, they all claim to offer them but they’re not. A well made Phillips (not pressed steel) with a quality grind will do both JIS and Phillips, it’s true to say that the old Phillips drivers would cam out and destroy the head, but modern quality gear can handle both types
Gedore Red actually replaces Gedore's 2nd brand (Carolus or something, I can't remember) its made in Taiwan. Gedore blue is the professional tooling made in EU to much higher spec in alloys and tolerances.
Hi buddy, indeed Geodore Red is their 'domestic' brand and the Blue is their 'professional' wing, am hoping to do some comparisons between the two int he future as I'll be investing in some more Geodore tools and it will be great to see like for like between the two versions.
@@Moonfleet41 seems great value either way for the Red. Gedore Blue is nuts expensive like Heyco (more BMW) or Hazet (more VAG vw etc). Another top brand is Stahlwille but agains nuts expensive.
I think from looking into this its the boxes that are the same.. all these tools have Gedore stamped on them, and i guess Halfords' have "Halfords" on theirs.. im thinking they maybe match the tools to the box as its a damn good combined set.... !

Yessssss, I bought it also. I have good tools but I want to fresh up my garage. 🙈. I think I don't need it also very soon because I have a brand new Kawasaki ZZR 1400 performance sport 2017 and my both cars are also not so old. Now waiting on the rest of Gedore tools.
The stuff of wet dreams. I've had my Gedore socket set for nigh on 40 years and it's worked hard without letting me down, ever. Just need to find a replacement for the plastic mould that holds the bits and pieces in place. Mine's taken a beating. An awesome product. Thanks Del. (Just subscribed)

I think my Bandit has sat for a while...it is running smoother now since I have taken it to 110mph a couple of times It definitely feels like a better bike. It looks like it has been looked after but has sat a while before being sold.

I still have a Gedore socket set my dad bought me when I started my apprenticeship in 68.It was 4 quid and my dad said it fell off the back off a lorry. Compared to a lot of other stuff I see for sale on U.K RU-vid channels it seems like a bargain for 95 quid.

Great set think my two I have got everything I need but great set agree on the bandit spark plug thing handy to have the bendy tool 👍 fully sort the channel too 👍
@@Moonfleet41 just started raining yet again , when I had the back surgery they said it was primarily to reduce my leg pain, & my back pain could increase, which is exactly what's happened. When you've had it this long (28yrs ) you do get used to it, it's just a pain (pardon the pun) in the butt. I can still ride the beast so all.is not lost. Onwards & upwards I say, glass is always half full in my life, no point getting depressed about it , doesn't solve anything. I agree, Halfords Advanced is great stuff, but Gedore is legendary and it's because I was blown away by the quality of it that I decided to make the video as it was better than I was expecting, just like you said, you never know what you're gonna get till you open the box!
:-) How things change? .... back in 1971 my wife bought me a Matador Socket/Spanner set .... AF - BSW & MM ...... I remember thinking the MM was a complete waste of space :-) It cost (way back then even) £95- with a lifetime guarantee .... I made the mistake of lending it to a chap who repaired my old Mk 4 cortina about 12 years ago ...... I bet you can guess which spanner went missing ...... Yep! ... The 13mm .... Dang niusance :-(

What is stamped on the sockets and ratchets gedore or carolus? It must be some cheap line as gedore is always blue / made in Germany / life time warranted. Not saying this set is not good but cost less than 3/8” gedore ratchet

Use some of there tools at work they seem to last well should last a lifetime for the home mechanic one tip try and use 6 sided socket rather than 12 less chance of rounding bolt heads
I have a Halfords advance socket set (hundred and something Pc cant remember how many) as a present a few years back which does get a lot of use. The gedore red does look better designed and cheaper. Ive had to buy single sockets and adapters.
Geodore is a good 'industrial' tool manufacturer to me, known for their adjustable wrenches and pry bars. That set looks good and probably worth more than you paid for it. Do I see that it doesn't have double hex sockets, relying purely on side drive single hex? The double hex (12 point) are more versatile than the single hex and if you are limited, as this set is then the double hex is the one to go for. There also seems to be a great deal of duplication with the torx/hex/cross head bits.
From what a tool rep told me, a lot of the 12 sided socket options are being left out now because ratchet technology has filled the gap.. they now have 72 tooth mechanisms that can turn finer amounts without the lash that old ratchets had...apparently.! i think everyone could design thier own cream set aye..!
@@Moonfleet41 Yep, that's the theory but in my experience there are quite a few times when a 12 point socket works much better than a single hex e.g. you need to put a breaker bar on the socket to undo it in a confined space (rachets should not be used for very heavy work). My tool boxes are overflowing with tools including 72 tooth rachets, single and double hex sockets in standard shallow and deep ones. The single hex are invariably only used where the best purchase is required and/or the bolt head is turned. BTW rachet technology is as good now as its ever been, I have a 72 tooth Snap -on rachet that is 50+ years old that is still my go to one as it works better than the modern ones with a smoother action although it could do with an overhaul to replace the missing lever!

Mine just arrived. As I expected - made in Taiwan BUT quality of sockets looks good and certainly better than my Sealey set that I'vebeen using. It's a steal at this price!

Been looking at loads of these on ebay with the same layout but all from different companies, they must be ordering bulk from china and getting their own logos on the cases.
Each and every single item in the kit is stamped Gedore, so they are genuine Gedore German tools, you could be right on the box layout though, I don't think there's a company out there these days that doesn't do business with China in some way or other to help them market things better... perhaps they bought in the boxes and then fitted the tools to them... plus don't forget, China copies just about everything, so perhaps that's why they look familiar...
True but like u said these tools should be way over £100, they must have found a way to massively cut costs somehow. I'm still going to get myself either the 172 piece set or the 215 piece tool sets for xmas as they are very good value either way.

Nope. Gedore (Blue) is made in Germany / Austria. Gedore RED is made in Taiwan. It is a cheaper alternative for non-industrial use. But don't underestimate it, Gedore still holds the quality control over the products, which means they are produced against higher standard than most Taiwanese stuff (same with Wera). I am a hardcore German tool fan but even I wouldn't buy a blue telescopic ratcher for 100 euros when the Red version is just 20 and just as much reliable (for non-industrial use of course). Even my torque wrench is from Proxxon (also Taiwanese).
I think you're right there mate... I think that would make it a lot more expensive, a Gedore torque wrnech is not a cheap item, but yeah, I think we could all design the dream tool set aye?!
Since @Moonfleet41 or anyone else bothered to answer I will answer my own question. Country of origine of those tools is Taiwan, I've got that info from Gedora customer support myself.
@@x0rZ15t It is common knowledge in Europe that Gedore Red is the cheaper Taiwanese-made alternative for those who can't afford the blue version. They came out with this brand to reach people who don't need industrial tools on an everyday basis.

Sounds like a tool test opportunity aye..? considering they dont slip in a sound bolt head.. the "skinny" shaft is about the same thickness as the bolt shaft... so which would snap first...the tool steel, or the bolt..?
@@Moonfleet41 I'd think the tool as the high carbon steel is strong but brittle to. Needs to be a good quantity fastener. Also torques bolts are designed to not take more torque than the fastener can take by rounding the head if over touqed so will make a good test

Hey Mike. One of your easiest options is to check the German Amazon (amazon.de). Most German tools are hosted there and are 95% of the time available on store. The price is significantly lower as you don't pay for import, but you have to factor in the shipping cost. German Tool Reviews, bzeug and many other tool reviewers but from KC Tool or Amazon.de.
david appleton Carolus was the sub-brand of Gedore until recently. Then their range was rebranded Gedore Red (Gedore’s normal corporate colour on their premium, Snap-on rivalling, stuff being blue). There’s some bargain tools out there branded Carolus if you look closely - retailers are trying to get rid as it has the “wrong” name on it now. Exactly the same tools and same quality as Gedore Red though.
