Sayote is the fruit of a vine that's mainly eaten sauteed with shrimp, or ground pork. When picked fresh it has a clean, sweet taste. The tender, young leaves are also steamed/boiled and eaten as a salad together with sliced tomatoes and 'bagoong'.

"Inumin" is the better term than "painom"... You should say--- "Anong inumin ang mayroon kayo?" Which means "What are your available drinks?" "inumin"(slow pronunciation) is a noun which means drinks, while inumin(fast) is a verb means to drink.

Kabayan thank you for helping Kurt! I-nu-min (drink/s, is/are noun), inu-min ( verb/to drink), pa-inum(verb/let me drink), pang-inum(var./noun, for drinking)...sorry could not emphasize accent stress...hope we can help! I'm giving you 10 out 10 (!) for trying!! By the way, sayote / chayote is a vege fruit along the squash(?) family/very good, & I think by now Kurt knows the hallmarks of Bicol express...sili & coconut milk! Too bad this post came on a Sat. too here in the states & being presented with a buffet of Filipino goodness makes your mouth water & longness for home! The chayote goes by many names: “custard marrow,” “vegetable pear” and “mirliton” - the latter used extensively in Louisiana. Others call it “christophine,” “choko,” “iskut,” “mango squash,” “xuxu” and “machuchu.” The vines of the chayote plant are durable but flexible, and are used in the making of hats and baskets.
