He is a fucking genius..full stop..hilarious..best interview of a major comedian I have seen..credit to the interviewer for getting Eddie to open up like that...
Are you all kidding me? Granted I'm only half the way through this video, but this interviewer seems to be one of the best I've ever seen. He's having an actual conversation with Eddie as opposed to asking him a bunch of unconnected questions back-to-back, rapid-fire, like most interviewers do.
Just for every who says interviewer doesn't deserve to interview Eddie, look him up. His name is Byron Allen (Google him). He was a comedian and now he is a very successful producer, worth 300 million. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
6195123453429878 Exactly and they've known each other since they were 19yrs old. Very comfortable with each other. It was nice. It was like 2 mates talking about back in the day.
The critical comments are so far off the mark. Here's a master showman sitting with an old friend. He's relaxed, in good health, happy. What are you lacking?
FYI: The interviewer is Bryon Allen. A major player in the comedic world and has been around just a long as Eddie Murphy if not longer. He started on the The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson at the age of 18! So please everyone hating on the host, do your research and show some respect. His show Comics Unleashed has helped out so many struggling comedians. Eddie Murphy knows his work and dedication to the game, I'm sure that's why he chose to do the interview with him, because he rarely interviews at all.
+Pariah SERIOUSLY - Byron Allen is one of a FEW BILLIONAIRE Blacks in hollywood! he owns all of his content - one of the largest self-owned catalogues in the business! It's pure ignorance to make fun of this man, smh...
Holy shit I just realized that this interview WAS ACTUALLY a stand-up bit. That's right. Eddie Murphy doesn't need to do stand-up. He IS stand-up, whatever he does.
wow Eddie mentioned our home town where he stared his stand up. Mr. Hicks Place in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York. Eddie was a Senior when I got to the high School. way to go Eddie.
Nah, man.. Not sure about the "best ever".. It's funny, though. One of the best/most well put together 1 hour comedy specials, I have to give it to Dave Chapelle's "Killing Em Softly" in DC. And Chapelle isn't even my favorite comedian
Geoffrey Zoref I hear you, but most well put together - beginning to end - Killing Them Softly* was better than Delirious*, man. Not saying Delirious* wasn't funny, because it was. But Killing Them Softly* just stepped it up.. And like I said before, Chapelle isn't even my favorite comedian. Eddie is naturally funnier
Vinny H. Agreed.. Killing Them Softly* is what got me to really watching Chapelle. Beginning to end, str8 funny. Punchlines, call backs, everything was perfect
Say what y'all will about Byron Allen, but he did a good interview here. I've been watching him for 35 years, and have never been too crazy about his comedy, but he's a real dude. Genuine. And it comes through. He's really being himself here, even if it's a little annoying at times. And what a great interview. I laughed all the way through! Thanks for the upload!
Just As Bad Mustve been easy for Robin simply because he just went to comedy clubs, cherry picked other comedians best bits, then presented them as his own.
Aside from his legendary humor n Adorable giggle. Eddies character is very calming to me -- he's so chill 😎 His stories w/ legendarys are so ultimate n he's so calm n funny when sharing.
+Grant Victorino I know. Cosby was hilarious. And he was clean. Was awesome to listen to with your whole family. We dont have to like what he's accused of (I havent been following the latest so I have no idea one way or the other), but I will never negate the good he did. Like MJ - We dont like his attitudes or actions with boys, but you cant say he wasn't talented. Folks dissing him were listening to his tape every morning getting ready for school, buying his zipper-ed red jacket. I might not like him, but love his music.
Eddie told some great stories here, I learned some stuff I never knew. Yet all I'm seeing is a bunch of idiots pissing and moaning about not liking Byron Allen's interview style. Who gives a shit? Frankly I wasn't paying him any mind.
I truly hope that "the right time" does come. I would absolutely love it if Eddie did another stand up movie. There's a lot of funny people out there, yeah, but nobody comes close to his comedic genius and raw talent--in terms of our time. I'd say, for me, there are only two other comedians who are as brilliant in their stand up, Chris Rock (whom Eddie discovered mind you), and Dave Chappelle. Those three are the trifecta of comedians for our time. At least in my humble opinion.
Yeah, Eddie held up brilliantly under some heavy fire. Never heard of baron allen but certainly know who Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor are. Easily two of the best in the business. Nothing wrong with going out on a high guys... .
The interviewer is Byron Allen, he use to have his own talk show back in the Arsenio days. He is strangely annoying here, but he's been interviewing a long time.
Jonathan Archer Ro Kaine Outstanding Cruise I think he should *never* do another standup. He should leave his legacy alone! Another standup would be held to unreachable standard. I also want Aretha Franklin and Paul McCartney to *stop* singing.
VaticansHolocaust Sadly, what you say is true and who knows. Maybe it hurts Eddie knowing that he can't do his style of stand up in today's pc age. He'll get thrashed by the media if he did. If he toned it down, then it won't top anything he's done in the past. Perhaps it's just best to leave it alone.
Osaji Obi It is stupid to think it but I see where you are coming from and definitely America has lost their sense of humor. god forbid you joke about Muslims Jews and gay/lesbian people. Trouble like you can imagine!
Eddie needs to do a comeback. I'd love to see another hour of stand up from him. Delirious and Raw are some of the best stand up shows ever made, but damn... 1987 was a long ass time ago.
learn some comedy history ppl. the "interviewer" is a Hollywood business legend. he's doing quite well with or without your opinions. I'm lol at the lack of education on this thread
Their comedic styles are too different so they'd clash and it wouldnt be that great. Eddie Murphy shines with comedians who compliment his style like Martin lawrence, Arsenio Hall, Bernie mac, Richard Pryor, Steve Martin
+note2owns Interesting bit about eddie, when he used buy the latest newspaper or celeb gossip magazines at his local newsstand,he would usually give money to the homeless when asking for a handout.
That's what always amazes me, how incredibly down to earth, and humble this man is, plus such a family guy. Rediscovering this wonderful comedian AND beautiful human being all over again 😍
Eddie Murphy to me is real. Some people may think he comes off as arrogant but I just think he’s classy with a confident attitude along with straightforwardness.
Eddie Murphy is a legend. But the reason that I keep listening to this video is because the interviewer ( name unknown ) the way he laughs makes me laugh. Big up Eddie Murphy.
Eddie is right about the "bombing on stage" thing. Your neck and ears get real hot when that happens. I only got booed 1 time, out of 19 performances, and that's what I felt when I got booed.
He is so talented, and you will laugh, but I absolutely LOVE him in Action comedy films. I mean BHC 1-3, 48hrs, My favorite of his hands down is METRO! BHC4 is announced, I dont know if its rumored or what.
Is it just me, or when Eddie is asked about a return to standup, that it actually seems like he lacks the confidence to do it again? I know what he said, but I just get the impression that standup is the one thing where he hasn't fallen off. His movies are largely mediocre, some terrible and his music career is not really worth talking about. I can understand why he would never admit to that, but I do think we are looking at a man that is genuinely scared that his return to standup won't be received as well as he expects of himself, and he'll never be able to say that he stopped at the top. Personally, I think Eddie would kill. These candid interviews, even with such a bland host, are funny through sheer charisma, personality, and charm. Eddie is a funny man, always has been, but due to the fluctuations of his different career choices, he's nervous that he'll damage the brand. Shame, I'd love to see a return.
steven vogel Did you not listen to his reply about a new standup act? One and a half years of HARD work before you even have something to take before an audience! It's the truth. How hard do you want to work when you have family and a comfortable life? Eddie Murphy is like an emerald surrounded by diamonds set in platinum. You think he's scared to get in the dirt and start swinging a pick? No, he's already been there. The question is, does he want to do it all again.
thszntatst It's not like he is an old man. I don't think he is scared of the prospect of standup, I think he is scared that he won't live up to his own expectations. Bill Cosby came out with a new album and supported it with touring within the last year, and if he can find the time to do it, I can't see why Eddie can't. Yeah, it's hard work, but it is not like he will have to be flipping burgers to support himself while he does it, nor will he need to worry about whether people will actually show up to his show.
No Steve, you're right. He even mentioned (as many comedians do) that the seats may be packed, and you come onstage with a roar of approval, but then you have to deliver the material. If you haven't got new material.... It's just a LOT of work to develop. And, it's not like he doesn't work.
OK Let me understand this better. if Eddie was born in 1961 and started work when he was 15-16... that is sometime in 1977...and he got 5 dollars per 5 mins ....that is a present value of (2017) of 20 dollars..!! So he got 20 dollars for 5 mins...!!! And that guy said bus cost 20 dollars back then..????? What are these people saying.???
My insticts was always right. His eye contact and eye language is something I always recognise as I always had a poor sight. But even though I had my lazer treatment sorted I still reacognise that.
This interviewer is pissin' me off…his timing is wrong, his laugh is annoying, he spends too much time on the wrong questions….l almost wish l could edit him out….
If this guy started interviewing people in the U.K. And if he get' s a job in U.K to interview U.K talents, J m E who owns AKA would love to employ him in the U.K
the interviewer laughs like a girl with a bad laugh clip from family guy it's so cringe-worthy and painful to get through the interview every time he laughs
Don't know if you guys realised but he said that same story twice. once with Ellen That TV host about winning that $25. in the other episode he says that he won! make up your mind Eddie Murphy
People making comments about the interviewer. I’ve been watching Byron Allen since “Real People” was on Tv in the late 70’s. Truly a powerful man in entertainment. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entertainment_Studios
