Delirium in the elderly is often under recognised and underestimated by the healthcare provider. We often label them as attention seeker and uncooperative patients. We may not be able to eliminate all the risk factors for delirium, but we can try as much as possible to reduce the risk. It is worth knowing that delirium can stay for weeks to months even after patient is discharged from hospital or recovered from their illness.
