I hope that guy gets something from his boss for doing this so well. looks like he has done this drop off 1000's times. the way he parks the truck and the trailer all the hoses line up. he goes form one thing to another in a harmony unlike i have ever seen before. thanks for sharing : )
I am pretty sure Chevron Corp regrets it because these Chevron driver's worked there A$$ off with 5-7 loads a day. And when they got rid of them and the common carrier took over and instead of continuing with the 5-7 loads a day per driver. They do like 3-4 loads a day for the same pay. Basically MILK THE CLOCK and take your time and do less. So they have to have 2 trucks doing the same work as 1 ex Chevron driver. I remember the month they did it too because every time I went by a Chevron station it had yellow tape around the pumps because the common carrier could not keep up with the loads so stations were without fuel for 24 hours or more.
My first two years ad bulk vehicle operator I was winning accolades, incentives, driving capabilities bonuses but 1 thing assassinated my character confidence allways try your best to control it when you become a bvo humbleness is the best secret to survive long and leave a foot print in this industry (never get too confident) from experience.....gudluck
Well, Chevron delivery drivers have gone permanently, this must have been in 2007 or 2008. It was nice to have been working with Chevron as a driver, good pay plus benefits.
sucks that got rid of company trucks/ drivers....I worked for Shell Oil Co.for 8 yrs up to when they got rid of trucks and drivers...best driving job I ever had
Question I dare someone to answer. During the Zombie/ Other Apocalypse, how strong of a fuel pump do you need scavenge gas from the underground tanks, Gas and Diesel?
great job but the hours and the pay could be much better I think rotating days off are the best not every driver wants to work every weekend. If the public knew want a tanker driver goes through to do that job safety.
Awesome video. Brandon, could you please tell me what are the most significant risks that you encountered while doing this job? It seems like it requires a lot of effort mentally and physically.
Andres Gonzalez dealing with drivers on the roaf thats pretty much it loading and unloading takes major focus no distraction is allowed in this field no room for mistakes but driving is one of the main headaches dealing with traffic ppl cutting in front of us etc
Can you guys who do this for a living, answer some questions for me? Do ALL delivery trucks use the same fittings for fuel?? And are they camlock fittings?? Also, are they the same for diesel and gas?? Is the larger hose for dispensing and the smaller one for ventilation??
Yes all fuel trucks in my area use the same fittings, for gas and diesel, and they are camlock‘s. Smaller hose in this video is for vapor, but where I work they are the same diameter; 4 inches.
Couldn't have delivered much in 14 minutes must have only been small quantities for each tank. Takes around 45 minutes to empty a 38000 litre tanker here in uk. Also here you get ullage (room in tank) reports before and after delivery so you know how much customer can take before you blow the tanks and create a shit storm.
It was a full load 11400 gallons. (43,153 litter) shortened video due to it being edited . We were not allowed to use the store tickets.. Had to manually stick every tank. Depending on the station, I could get in and out in 20-30minutes. Yeah I just kinda rock. Lol
What is the max curb to curb 180 you can do in that rig? In other words how tight can the unit turn? That is similar to this one right? oppermansales.com/equipment/N-1171-72
Given the long wheel base of the prime mover I would say that a semi trailer would turn a lot tighter than this truck but I'm from uk and that's all we use for fuel delivery. We only need a space as wide as the length of the trailer to turn it 180 degrees. This guy might hit his own trailer I he turns too tightly
pretty simple....i live in Dallas-Fort area and close to flint hills and magellan.....been thinking about doing it....used to haul diesel but only filling construction equipent and bulk tanks on job sites....i hear the schedules suck and the pay isn't what it used to be....but it is steady work...
Not denying your skill and professionalism but in the uk you’d be wearing hi viz, hard hat and goggles with your gloves and boots. You shouldn’t need to do dips either as you get the readings from the DCD box (or the licensee completes paperwork with you) and you’d be signing off the tanks as you connected to them. Guessing the prime mover has a single tank for diesel as there is no vapour return connected. DCD box printout would give your closing readings as well or you take them from the pump control unit in the store for LCD.
Those were the days... Too bad I had 2 incidents in one month... First a deadly wrong way driver head on nearly up to 75mph going to Los Alamos, then a DWI coming at me in Dixon NM on a blind corner... 2nd incident that truck crash into a mound of dirt, avoiding my truck.
You can carry all 3 types of fuel on one truck. The tanks have different compartments. I usually bring all unleaded in both compartments of my truck. My trailer has 3 compartments. I usually bring premium in one compartment, diesel in another and unleaded in the 3rd.
+Brandon Engstrom depending on the setup... it can be 11,300 to 11,600 on the NW Super Tanker setup and i think there's was 11,300 to 11,400 total mine was 11,600 +/- depending on API of product
Did everything excellent except for not coning the pick up truck out of his area. One thing i learned from dropping fuel is never underestimate the driver of a vehicle. I had an elderly man back up from the drivers side and entangle his bumper with my headers, great job though.
Supposed to vent the tank before sticking it and connect fitting from the ground first then to compartment otherwise nice! Atleast that’s how south Florida is might be different where this gentleman is
Where I am we call them a pup (2 3 or 4 axle combinations) when they are towed behind the truck with a dolly.(if towed behind a trailer call that doubles and so on) We dont have big enough cities that are so tight you cant get a full tanker in or you just have to be good enough to make it work. Only see loggers use pups. We have 2 paper mills and 2 harley davidson plants in my city of 3700
Beetlejuice pup dog very similar maybe its where it came from around me. Everyone around me with CDL (including my dad did trucking since he finished in vietnam) calls them pups. We are huge logging industry where the tractor has the boom on it and 18ft of deck for logs and pulls the pup behind it. Most logging roads can't fit a full tractor trailer and all loggers load their own loads.
Beetlejuice Here in the U S A. They market was deregulated. There are too many company doing fuel delivery. This company are called common carriers, and they cut each ortega bids.
That's terrible to hear. In Australia the 4 big transport companies have the strong hold on the fuel deliveries. We are employed full time, only work 4 days a week and are on $120000 a year. It's a great job but if you cause a mix up you'll never be able to work in the fuel industry ever again.
According to our standards not a rite ppe, no choke blokes,no fire extinguishers'and hey dont forget castomers documantation, n'way very highly professional work Mr Brandon 🇿🇦
...measure the tanks with the dipstick...lower hose delivers the product...upper hose is the vapor recovery that allows vapor in the under ground tank to vent the truck tank equalizing pressures and preventing drawing a vacuum in the truck tank...which can be enough to collapse it...destroying the tank...
Before you load any product into the tank you use a measuring stick(2:15 in the video) to see how much is in the tank, and then fill the tank to 90% capacity
Hasty One correct thats how we do it veeder root is usually 99% accurate and of course we stick it just to have a 2nd verification but just like he said here in california we simply print out from the veeder root machine
Lack of required PPE, grounding cable and mission ground cable to the hoses in sequence of discharging this is a risk of static electricity and contamination or cross-over of petroleum products...
+Truckin 808 LOL, It was the Driver Instructor that recorded us. We would then get treated to lunch or dinner, and then head back to the terminal, review the video and discuss technique and procedure.
+BOYCOTT PC It happens, but not very often and when it does the "cross mix" is usually caught by the store or dispatch and occasionally a honest driver. The mixed product then gets pumped out and replaced.
BOYCOTT PC The Product is not destroyed, A few things can happen with it. depending on the mix it can be pumped out and brought back to the terminal and sold as Transmix; Or if it was Supreme mixed with Regular, The Supreme will just be "downgraded" and sold as Regular. If it was Regular mixed into Supreme the product would be pumped out and most likely be brought back to the terminal, or it would be transferred to a Regular Tank.
They get paid a salary per month, most of the oil companies got rid of there company trucks and farmed it out, to bad idrove for Esso for many years before they farmed it out,to bad BEST DRIVING JOB I EVER HAD!!!
The salary ranges, depending on how many hours you are willing to work and how you are paid. The drivers in my area average between 60,000 and 100,000 a year.
+Pendemic I am not or have ever been involved in gas transportation, but I was an aircraft fuel systems mechanic. I think "vapor" is meant to say the air that is being pushed out of the inground tanks as the product is being delivered. It looks like the vapor is pushed into the tanker truck instead of released into the air, I assume.
@@BrandonEngstrom Cool , I never been there . Did you notice the Master Driver Badge on the cowl ? 20 years with no accidents mixes or spills . Thats awesome !!
TheLuckyfox05 how much is the pay in Ireland? I heard around 50k? I have my artic test coming up and I already have my ADR licenses so eventually I’d like to do this
