Guide to upgrading the HDD/SSD and RAM on the Dell Inspiron 3268 desktop computer.
This is a relatively simple task, requiring just a Philips head screwdriver, and a Philips mini-screwdriver. A pry tool will also make some tasks easier.

Thank you so much for this video! I was just trying to figure out how to install additional RAM on this model--and did, successfully, thanks to this video--but am now thinking about changing out the hard drive. Kudos! (From a 60+ computer innards neophyte.)

thank you sir, appreciate your efforts. am about to attempt the same upgrade. coincidentally i settled on the same Crucial 480GB as sufficient for my needs. feeling a strong preference for a clean install of windows 10 from flash drive and there seem to be several guides available online. cheers

Thank you James for the excellent video, which gave me the confidence to try to upgrade my own Dell Inspiron 3268 desktop computer with a 1TB Crucial drive. Unfortunately, after installing the new SSD I find that I cannot boot up into Windows 10. The disk copy with a boot option using Acronis True Image apparently worked successfully. Any advise or suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi, could you make a similar video on how to install a new graphics card in this desktop computer? I'm planning on adding a GT 1030 to my Inspiron 3268, but I'm still relatively new to computer upgrading. I did follow your steps to upgrade my SSD and RAM parts though, got myself a Crucial 1TB SSD (+2.5 to 3.5 adapter) and a 8GB RAM card.

did this using an ssd which had window installed already but ssd not detected when booted from desktop. Any reason why it didn't boot?

Might be different device drivers on the previous machine windows 10 was installed on.

Can we use both HDD and SSD? But this have single power slot

You could remove the optical drive and install a 2.5" SSD in a optical bay caddy.

Yes, you’ll need a power splitter cable (£4) and an additional SATA interface card (£15) and another SATA cable. You should be able to slot the SSD underneath the optical drive as there should be space. I’ve done this with a very similar Dell Optiplex SFF last week.
