FYI, I know this is an old video, but one thing you said was mount the ssd with two sided tape. I have this same machine and bought an inexpensive 3.5" to 2.5" tray witch then mounts normally in the same space and screw openings.

I have two questions. I hope you can help. I took this model 660s home and I tried upgrading the ram with two 4x gb however only the first slot works. I tried putting two and it beeps 2 times. Why is that? Also, to go around this can I just get 1 8 gb stick instead to put in that slot?

I don't know if you'll still see this, but can you maybe do a quick tutorial on how to get the GPU going? I tried out two different GPUs (one GTX 750Ti and one GTX 1060) with a 400w power supply, neither of them worked, PC booted up to Dell logo and then froze, while mainboard made one beep noise every minute or so. The GPUs work fine on a different PC and the Dell works fine with only the onboard GPU. I can't find any settings in BIOS to disable the onboard card. Have you encountered the same problem as well?

Hello, I have a 660s and recently got a r7 250 1GB GDDR5. I'm worried about the 220W PSU, but I've seen posts of people recommending that graphics card without having to upgrade the psu. Just in case I underclocked my r7 250 though. Has someone tried this without underclocking and actually not setting everything on fire? I will not use it for heavy gaming, maybe just once in a while when I can't use my main pc

I am so glad to have found this video; so well done. My sister had this very same system and asked me find out why it wasn't working. After doing several different diagnostics it came down to the hard drive had died. Now she doesn't want it back and the system is really clean. So I want to upgrade memory, cpu (it is currently a Celeron), and an SSD. But I cannot find (and I have done a whole lot of research but maybe I am just missing out on the obvious) the memory voltage. Is it 1.5v or 1.35v? Some boards can do both. Can someone please tell me the memory voltage for this board? Thanks. Two other questions: Has anyone successfully installed an SSD with Windows 10? Does the system recognize SSD's? Reading the comments here there are those who have had issues. Thanks.

Hi, yes you can use this Crucial RAM with 1.35V and any SSD will work fine with windows 10 on this system. Dude, your video is helpful. I know how to deal with my Inspiron 660s after watching your video. Then I bought a MSI AMD Radeon R7 240 from Amazon. But it is too large for this pc. Hi, yes you can and motherboard only have 2 SATA ports that means you will no longer use DVD drive.

My Dell 660's psu says "Do Not Exceed 100 watts" and I bought a VisionTek Radeon HD7750 1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (Yes I know this would not fit but I modded the case to make it fit) Anyways the GPU worked for a couple days then I took the gpu out of the pci slot cause I got a pci adapter for it so it would fit, then once i tested that the fan spinned on the gpu for like 2 seconds then stopped and the computer does not recognize the GPU (Did the same thing even when not on the pci adapter), I think it is the psu but it worked the first two days (I tested it on another computer with a non certified 250 watt psu and the gpu did the same thing. If you have any ideas on what could be wrong please help!, Best Regards Evan.

You wont need to upgrade the psu, the gt 1030 uses less power than the r5 240 or the hd 7570

The 220 watt psu is the limit for this system. My research found no power supply that offered more than 220.As per Nvidia the minimum system requirement is 300 watts for both cards.

I don't think a GTX750ti will fit (it takes up dual-card slot). I upgraded my Dell 660s to a Zotac GT1030 Low Profile (single-slot card) more than a year ago and its still running fine. Do take note of the brands, some may take up dual-slots, whereas the SFF only allows for single-slot cards. If you're planning to get a GT1030, get the GDDR5 variant (DO NOT BUY THE GDDR4 variant, its a scam).

This is impossible to do so unless you out it outside of the case you can unscrew the power supply from then hard drive but a normal psu might not fit in that tiny space would reccomend getting a new case there are some on amazon that are 59.99$ USD

You told about nvidia gt210 "2gb" graphic card....but other two cards of amd radeon are 1gb or 2gb??And please let me know,which one would be the best one amongst this and provide links for purchasing it online if you know any....this video is really helpful..even dell customer care support people dont know which graphic cards are compatible with inspiron 660s...thank you for the video..

I believe the MB is a micro ATX format, but to be sure, check your mount points. I pulled my 660s apart about 5 years ago and rebuilt it into a full sized 19" rack mount case, w/ a 2nd 1TB HD and full size 400W PS. Runs great.

No, it's a dual slot card. This only has room for single slot cards. I learned this the hard way and I'm still kicking myself over it, lol

@@mattketner7597 Shoot! If only I waited a little longer before I ordered! I heard someone stating that it was 'two slotted' and wouldn't fit, so I chickened out and bought a 1030. Whateves, I'm sure that it'll be able to handle the games that I have!
