This works. But I modified it to just take 5 min. Take the cove off (six screws) cut the plastic bottom with a razor knife just below the batt. 1 inch square. batt comes out and put the the new in. (piece of two sided tape to hold it in place). Put the two covers back on (six screws). everything looks fine. no sign of the short cut.
Missing a few minor steps that can hang a normal person up, still helped Keyboard is a pain, but take your time For the "Base" screws, it's all the one marked with (P) Far easier and less worrying to unplug the LCD cable before taking the hinge screws off Last, take out the dummy SD card. It will hold in the motherboard 😜 Good luck! 🎉 Also, if your careful enough.. you can just use a Dremel to cut off the little 1" square piece of plastic that covers the battery connector 😅 and make it a 5 minute job
So much effort just to replace a consumable. What the hell, Dell? I just broke off the plastic covering the cmos battery connector and used some isopropyl alcohol to dissolve the glue holding the battery down.
I had no idea I would have to take the whole laptop apart to get to the CMOS battery. The reason I want to remove it is I have forgotten the BIOS password. I have no idea what I'm doing so I'm kinda leery about trying this method. Does anyone know an easier way? I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks very much!
why is this basically a complete tear down when its just a cmos battery replacement? i cant stand these kinds of laptop that makes u have to tear it apart in order to replace something...its a joke LOL.
