I just bought the Core i7 model of this XPS 13 with 8GB Ram and 256GB SSD just @$382 from ebay..!! :D It said refurbished but it looks fully new and fresh and amazing :D
Hi Lisa, nice review. I understand you prefer Dell XPS 12 over the XPS 13 due to being touchscreen. How about battery life, which is better? Any other factors to choose XPS 12 over XPS 13?
I definitely don't think this would be overkill for programming. It would be just right for the job and I wouldn't go with something with a lesser CPU.
The Asus Zenbook Prime UX31a with a matte 1080p display with wide color gamut is the best looking among Ultrabooks.

I'm so excited about this full-HD display, that's the reason I've not buy the old XPS 13 yet. Can you tell me, is the colour good? Is it natural? how about compare with the Apple Macbook Retina (the colour)? Thank you!
Hey Lisa, another great review! Quick question because I watched your XPS13 720p review. Would you consider that FHD screen on this new one completely destroy the old screen, or is that something I don't have to worry about when considering saving a few pennies.
We reviewed the last gen Samsung Series 7 Chronos and the latest gen is sweet. There should be room for an SSD and HDD since they still use the caching drive plus HDD stock.
In terms of display quality it's a real close race between those 3, though the inner matte (non touch) Taichi display is very easy on the eyes since there's no glare. But I do prefer a touchscreen with Windows 8 personally. I bought the Vaio Duo 11 because it's relatively light and has a great selection of ports including Ethernet, but the Dell XPS models do have much better keyboards..
I'm really considering this laptop. For university I am doing a computer programming course, and I was wondering if this would be overkill. I want something to run fine for long periods of time, something fast to respond and with a large battery. Is there something you'd recommend over this laptop?
Hi Lisa, this is a bit off topic but I'll be going to uni this summer and so I was wondering whether I should buy a macbook pro retina now, or wait till the summer refresh. I wouldn't mind the macbook air either but only if they completely refresh that. Any thoughts?
I have had this laptop for over a year now and I highly recommend it. It has great battery life, an awesome keyboard and a beautiful display. Not good for gaming though. (i5 processor)
I just wrote that based on something I had read: "Core i7 will be better for multi-tasking, multimedia tasks, high end gaming..."-PC Magazine. I am not a computer expert though so I suppose you are right.
I'd say that if you can afford it, go for the FHD. In addition to the extra pixels, you get IPS tech with all the benefits that come with it. Viewing Angles, clarity, color production etc. It's gonna be quite a few years before a 1080p display will seem puny on a laptop (not to mention on a 13-inch laptop) when higher resolutions eventually arrive on the market.
User of the old XPS13 with the centrino 6230, for a few months now: I haven't encountered any wifi issues. Same with a friend who owns the XPS12 (centrino 6235; the same one in this laptop).
This is still a Core i5 ULVE with the usual Ultrabook Intel HD 4000 graphics. Nothing too special vs. other Ultrabooks so we probably won't do a gaming video.
hey lisa, i'm looking for a new laptop and i was wondering what 13 inch screen laptops can you recomend that has a long battery life, fast and has a cd drive without worrying about the weight and price
Hey Lisa, I'm a little lost with laptops, and wondered if you ( or anyone els from youtube) could give me a little advise. Im going of to university in september and am looking for a laptop to bring with me, Im in love with the dell xps series, but dont know with one 12 - 15. which one would you get?, i need a bit of power, (muitliple programs at once) but its mainly gonna be for recreational purposes( Internet reaching, facebook, light gaming). any thoughts
Hi. I'm considering buying an XPS 13, but have read several negative reviews (fairly widespread issues, apparently) regarding: 1) Laptop over-heating issues 2) Touchpad response being way off 2) An annoying whining sound from the processor I currently own a Dell XPS 14z, which has given me a fair amount of headaches too, so I can easily give credit to the negative reviews I've read. Could anyone who owns/has reviewed a 2014 XPS 13 give me their take and confirm whether these negative points are real issues or not? Thanks a ton!
Dell should Thank you! You made me buy one, m getting this tomorrow that's dell xps 13 2013 model at 400us dollars over 2016 model which is 1700us dollars
Hi , i'm Italian, and in the italian site, Dell says the new XPS 13 FHD has 1 module of 8GB 1600MHz RAM. You say, instead, it has dual channel memory. I called Dell Call Center and they say 1 module is correct. I doubt that and I hope it works in dual channel mode for better gaming performance. Do you know the truth?
Lisa my xps 13 just arrived. How do I make the display larger without blurring the text? I did try the resolution settings but, as previously mentioned it blurred the text. Any ideas?
if there are air vents underneath which are pulling in air, try getting a cooling pad to force cool air in, on the other hand if the vents are pushing out hot air then using a cooling pad would be a bad idea.
Hi, I just bought this laptop and none of the top keys are working and the backlit keyboards stays on completely? Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Please, if you know answer me as soon as possible or else I am gonna try to return this laptop.
the only difference between xps12 and xps13 is that the 12 have ddr3 1333mhz ram and the xps13 have ddr3 1600mhz ram. so defiantly you will have about 10fps more on hd4000 in the xps13 , in that case ill prefer xps13 for the fast graphics performance. btw I love your videos =)
It was out of box that way. I called support. A guy came yesterday and put a new keyboard. Now its perfect. The only issue left that its really heating when battery is charging. I cant touch it between the keys, can burn my fingers.
one question plis!!!!! What these ultrabook is better?, Dell XPS 13 or Samsung Series 9 model NP900X3E-K01CL, plis it's very important for me D:!!!! (Sorry my english is very bad).
Not having a touch screen with windows 8 is a bad choice on manufacturer's part. Desktop or laptop. I like windows 8 regardless, but i do have the urge to touch my monitor every so often in the day
They acquired Alienware years ago for that, but they still make XPS powerhouses, honestly you should go for a precision if thats what you want. I do wish that they would include a SD slot on the ultrabook but only because my wife is a photographer, the average user does barley uses them. The last XPS I had was the L17x which was great I have to say
