Delta Anchor vs Mantus Anchor Testing and Results on a Crooked PilotHouse Fishing Boat

No I pay full price for the Crooked boat, and it looks like they only build one so mine is unique is the only one out there that is crooked.

Both are great anchors and I do recommend both of them and I also carry both of those anchors in my boat but in this case trial The Delta did better then the Mantius You saw the video I did the same test two both anchors and that was the result I tested it by the size not but the weight and of course the Delta is a little bit heavier than the mantus but they're about the same size. If you look at the previous tests that I did with the Mantus versus The Fortress they were the same size but the Forester s was lighter than the Mantus so I'm just trying to be fair and do by size not by weight. Out On The Reef - these are my thoughts: I like the delta as it works great in most substrates, but a Mantus anchor will beat a delta anchor in hard compacted sand as delta often fails in such a substrate. Fortress anchor will perform better and with best holding power than any other anchor in soft mud. I have a delta, mantus and fortress anchor. I love your tests but I think the mantus failed because you were going so fast in the lawnmower but still interesting to see the delta performing better.

@@MrAthlon4800 I think the weight advantage of the Delta in this case helped. If same weight between the two, maybe the Mantus would have matched on hard dry ground. I have watched many other videos out there testing the Mantus vs the Delta in actual anchoring at sea scenarios and the Mantus always did much better. I just purchased a new Mantus with near same weight as my Delta and will try it this summer and see how it goes. I have not been happy with the Delta.

Fun video. It looks like you had a blast making it. Anchor performance really depends on the substrate from anchor to anchor. The Delta is really good in some and sorta-kind really not so great in others while the Mantus (or similar Rokna) performs.well over a much broader range of bottom material. There really are not any bottoms that it doesn't perform well that all the other designs also struggle with. It also sets first time for us every time unless it is clogged with a ton of sunken debris. This was.more of a "setting" test and less of a "holding" test once it is set because the lawn mower just doesn't have the pull to really test that here. Inverse plow anchors like the Delta don't tend to have the same ultimate breaking holding power that the scoop anchors do in most bottoms. To be fair, the speed of the garden tractor seemed to be much too fast and caused both the anchors to jump some. The larger weight of the Delta was a huge advantage here since it didn't hop or bounce as much and was able to hook in at that fast setting speed. Another good test is to reverse the pull direction after it sets such as when the tide/current switches and see how easily the anchor turns and resets on its own. The Mantus really shines in this situation. We have.a 45lb.Mantus as our main anchor for our sailboat and I have no issue leaving it and nearly everything we own with it to go to shore all day through multiple current reversals and knowing my only home will still be there right where I left it when I get back with my dinghy. The fortress is a great anchor too, especially being so light weight and folding flat. They are harder to set but once it is set well it will hold great as long as the current or the wind doesn't shift since they don't always set first try once pulled out backwards like that. If you are in a river that only flows one way they are excellent.
