Radical theory: the reason Spamton keeps repeating the dialogue is because he's asking Kris, but it's the player who keeps responding. When you respond "no," he doesn't lament that he couldn't please either "you" or "Kris," specifically. Him saying that he "can't please everybody" is Spamton realizing that Kris and the player are separate entities, each with their own goals and desires. He walks off because he understands that, even if he were to stay, he could never please both of them, but at the same time he also doesn't want to disappoint either one. This fundamental conflict means there's no point to even trying to make either one proud, and his only real option is to leave
@@Blapedred Horrortale is more like a continuation of the story. Continuing off a failed true pacifist route with everyone slowly starving since the souls are gone, asgore is dead and the core has been destroyed. Good story too so

Very much in character? Spamton's entire thing is to wish to cut his strings and no longer be a "puppet" If anything, he's the last person you could manipulate, much less somebody who would want to make you proud If Kris ever did get close enough to spend a day with them, rejecting them would disappoint them, yet I would imagine they'd expect it or something. But in any case, this is anything but in-character
@@100Darkspine Even after acquiring a gigantic robotic body, fit to incarnate the hopes and dreams of the lightners, Spamton is unable to get rid of his own strings. He believes he is able to cut them, but alas it is only an illusion. He may cut down the literal wires that hold him in the air, but he is never, ever, able to stop being just a mere puppet. He is completely and utterly deranged, and an outside force as determined as the player would be completely able to manipulate Spamton like their own marionette... Just like that man on the phone once did.
@@100Darkspine Spamton does realize Kris has their own strings too, so perhaps he would be under the assumption that working together is their way to become "free" and would look up to Kris more as a partner (like Chara) rather than a leader
It's interesting how Undertale and Deltarune related dreams seem so unique and hold some kind of special place within the Fandom. I haven't seen too many other comunities that give this somewhat importance to the fans's dreams about it

Also, the dreams given importance seem to have evolved with the games, Undertale was complicated, but Deltarune has just *so* much mystery, the previous dream (Prunsel) didn't really seem to do much but be creepy at first, but *this* is a whole emotional story about one of the characters that saddens the player

Spamton's story tore me apart, I was looking for this scene thinking it was real because this one interaction just seems like something so real only to find out it's someones dream is both disappointing and kinda cool that someone also connected with the story remembered it and had this dream as a result
I love the idea that Kris refuses to say yes despite you making that choice, because they truly aren't proud at all. They're likely disgusted by your actions.
this comes across as such a chilling concept to me, still amazes me that it’s the product of a dream. “Spamton has left.” and the ensuing game-lock really freaks me out lol
Ikr I saw one thing from it and was like "yoo I've been thinking of what-ifs where he's on the team!" And then I had to quit drinking my hot chocolate after he got beat off-screen
On the one hand, I would never do this route in the first place. On the other, if I'm soft-locked regardless, then I'm never answering no. I can't get over how good this animation is tho. I love all the little details of the hair and his glasses going dark and the little sideways smile and aaaaaa-
first I thought that it was out of character for him to not talk in uppercase and be manipulative, but then I realized that actually he is the one manipulated. remember the man on the phone? he got manipulated by him. and when he discovered the truth, he started believing that he can cut his "strings" (not literal strings of his neo suit of course) off, but in reality he really couldn't. it's kind of like the deal with the reformation christanity around 16th century, you know? that basically says that your fate is predetermined and the only thing you can do is make it closer to the better one? and what is player (usually referred to as "you") known for? for manipulating. and the player is most likely going to manipulate spamton so he believes that you're friends. even him replying to your "Yes" with "Did I?" loop straight up resembles you answering his questions and him saying "WRONG". but he actually can't please everyone. he can't please both Kris and you.
I don't know how someone could have such a perfectly seem vivid dream of an au. It usually takes time to come up with these kinds of ideas, but this person had an actual DREAM and managed to make something somewhat surreal, and somewhat realistic to form a balanced au. It's perfect
this is amazing. the sprites look just like they were real parts of the game. I can't even think of how the person who originally dreamed this route up feels about this and all the super cool content thats come of it. I hope more salt route content continues to come out, i love this
Yo, if someone is able to expand this idea into something bigger, like a fangame or comic or something, than that would be dope. This is such a interesting premise.
I imagine that Kris doesn't actually say yes, using this scene to refuse to player's control, to punish our evil deeds and secret finding by preventing us from going to the light world. Kris doesn't say yes, so Spamton just keeps asking, until you allow them to say what they really want to, "no." But not for Spamton, for the player.
Something interesting about this part of the AU is how this is sort of a parallel to Spamton's fight where saying no to his deal leads to a loop as he says "WRONG". Seeing how that was instigated by Spamton there, I wonder if the same is happening here?
honestly the tied themes Deltarune and the Earthbound Halloween Hack have are really well shown in this, having no choice no matter what you do despite being told you have one. wacky dream and great animation man nice job
I have a great idea for a deltarune au It starts off pretty late. First thing you have to do is do a snowgrave route until you get to the part where you kill Berdly. Then you go back to the shop where you got all the rings and there is a new option to get a fire ring. You equip the fire ring and then you use it on Berdly. Berdly is then brought back to life and the last thing he remembers is Noelle casting snowgrave on him. His dialogue would go something like: “That traitor! Of course she wanted to be number one and had to defeat me to be number 1!” “Ah Kris! We are friends, right? You must help me get revenge on the evil scum Noelle!” You are given the option of yes or no. Now, if you pick no, then Berdly says: Please? And then the No and Yes option comes back. It goes on like this until you say yes. After you pick yes you have to follow Noelle and then finally when you catch up to her, the battle goes on. The battle is mostly Noelle pleasing for Berdly to spare her, and that she did not do anything. Berdly does not believe her and casts the ULTIMATE GAMING. Noelle, out of shock, casts Snowgrave at the same time. Now both Berdly and Noelle are dead. Then you get to go to the queen’s castle using a manhole and then after you get back to the computer lab, you tell Susie that they probably fell asleep. Susie leaves and the you stuff the bodies in the cabinet, which is “big enough to fit a large body inside”
Not great. In Snowgrave, Berdly realized Noelle was being manipulated by us (not Kris) so it wouldn't make sense for him to immediately go after Noelle and completely trust "Kris"
Alright, i know that according to the creator's dream, the final lines are just meant to be "well... guess you really can't please everyone", but i think that it would be cool to add more dialogue to make the scene more hitting, something like: * Kris... * After all we've done to [help] each other... * The many [situations] we've been through... * And this is hOW YOU [repay] ME?! * NOW WHAT? YOU ARE GOING TO [abandon] ME TOO!? YOU'RE JUST GOING TO LET ME ROT IN THE [garbage]?! * K-KRIS, [$!$!] YOU! I THOUGHT WE HAD A DEAL!! * I TRUSTED YOU, AND YOU JUST USED ME LIKE A [puppet]! YOU ATTACHED MY [bondage strings] TO YOUR HANDS!! * YOU ARE- * YOU ARE JUST LIKE HIM! ... * [Sigh] * Well... * I guess you really can't please everyone huh? ...
this is a really cool concept, and I love the idea of having Spamton as a party member but what would happen if we actually went out to find his keys? Are the salt stains actually his keys...? if so, are we able to give them to him..? I find this fascinating

His backstory in the actual game alone hurts me, this alternate universe’s concept hurts me. Either way, I’m only falling more in love with the funny little salesman

This is cool and all but why are we taking the salt route seriously? Like genuinely, the way that you are supposed to start it up is to find 5 WHITE PIXELS OF SALT. HOW HAS THIS GOTTEN SO BIG?

im very happy that the aus in deltarune arent like the aus in undertale . most were cookie - cutter , filtered versions of the original undertale characters and mainly appealed to sans . so far .. it seems like the aus are gonna be different this time around , for the better
