Now that you lay Roulxs bare like that, I’m convinced he’ll come right before the knight, proclaim he’s the knight, and maybe he’ll fight you and then get pushed to the side by the actual knight.

Rouxls Kaard's motivation to serve under an evil tyrant is almost the exact same motivation the illumination minions have.

I just realized, that makes so much more sense how Spamton and Mettaton's NEO forms are so similar. Mettaton left his NEO design on a computer in the computer lab, and it was adopted into the dark world as the derelict machine in the basement. Never realized that was a real possibility

I love how RK's presentation is with a slowed-down epic version of his theme in his puzzles, and then there's a whole analysis of how he has so much evidence on how he's the Knight. Man, he's just that cool.

Actually everyone is the knight, and they're all just crowding into the closet preparing to make the library dark fountain. They're just really really fast, which is how they all got there in time. Kris is actually the only one who isn't the knight, and everyone else is totally in on it.

I think Ralsei is even more unlikely to be the knight because when the queen forgot about him when she captured the other 4 in ch 2, she kind of just went "oh. It's you. Idk what to do with you lol run along" which I HIGHLY doubt would have been her reaction to being able to talk to the knight alone

Petition to put RK in A tier for one reason. Lancer is able to 'jump in and out' of Kris's pocket at the speed of a menu. He also calls Rouxls 'dadcrobatic (lesser)', which could mean Lancer thinks Rouxls more skilled than him. If that's the case, that could possibly mean that he leapt out and back in faster than we were shown, possibly when talking to Susie at some point in chapter 2, thus creating a dark fountain in the computer lab.

The idea of an Ice-E suit becoming a suit of armor is just hilarious to me. The idea that the Knight is just running around in an Ice-E suit, making fountains and introducing themselves to King and Queen is just comedy gold. Wait... there's an Ice-E letter puzzle in cyber field, perhaps Queen made it in the image of the Knight? And there's the weird Ice-E pillow thing Susie makes you steal, perhaps Queen put it in Noelles room because it looked like the Knight. NO. ICE-E CANT BE RELEVANT TO THE PLOT. NO. NO. NO.

I’ve been reading a lot of ideas about the knight lately and it seems that many theories are based on the idea that Toby wants us to find out who the knight is. Hints such as “a large person could easily fit inside the closet” or that the queen described the knight as having a “long hand” have many theorists using the process of elimination in order to debunk this mystery. But if I were Toby Fox, the last thing I would want is for my fan base to discover who the knight is. In fact I would even put out misleading tidbits of information such as the quotes above to throw off the players’ trail. Wouldn’t it make more sense for the knight to be wearing a disguise that can conceal their identity? All it would take is for the knight to put on something like… a large suit of armor before going around opening dark fountains and their identity would be safely kept a secret. Then, even if the knight were to be revealed in chapters 3-5 their true identity could be kept a secret until the final two chapters. And if someone were to own a disguise such as a suit of armor in deltarune, another lightner (the knight) could’ve stolen it from them. I’m getting more and more convinced that the knight is going to be kept a strict mystery until the true reveal. And once revealed, their motives, identity, and backstory will be a complete surprise. The only thing I can guess about the knight is that their eventual reveal will be unsettling, similarly to how Asriel slowly turned around at the end of Undertale’s pacifist route only to turn into his God of Hyperdeath form.

I think the most likely option in my opinion is that the Knight is going to be a new character rather than an existing one, however I feel like Gerson has got to play a role somehoe, especially considering that his name is an anagram for "Goners" which is probably a coincidence but still

Alphys & Toriel should be in F tier and here's why: After we return to the light world to collect toys we can encounter Alphys talking to Toriel, so It's impossible for them to be in the Librarby before Noelle & Berdly.

Suppose that Asgore was fired from being the Police Chief due to Dess going missing due to his negligence, in some way. He somehow figures out that she fell into a Dark World, and is going around opening Dark Worlds in places she once frequented, in an attempt to find her. If you consider where he made the fountains, a locked and unused classroom is out of the way enough that it's less likely for a student to wander in by accident, and they mention a few times in chapter two that the internet is down in the whole town right now, making the computer lab another place that is unlikely for someone to be going.

Could totally see burger pants stabbing the ground with a knife in "determined" fury and accidentally creating a dark world. Which if we expand on, could lead to BP creating *more* dark worlds because hey, he's actually somewhat of a big shot in them/trampling through a dark world is therapeutic and calming, like those "pay to destroy stuff" businesses.

The idea that Rouxls Kaard has such a combination of being well supported and *objectively* funny that I will now adopt the headcanon that Rouxls is the knight

I have a proposition for you: There are MULTIPLE Roaring Knights. End of chapter 2, Kris makes a Dark world. Knife? Check. Fingers? Check. But at the same time, how could he have been at the library when the dark world was already there? Unless, it was a different roaring knight. Unless its multiple people. Multiple people, that have similar motives. So much so, they would work together to achieve them.

What is weird is that characters with talk sprites seem to be the ones who are most relevant to the plot, so Pizzapants/Burgerpants being in a dark world at least isn't that far out there. The voice at the beginning also calls Bratty and Catty "Interesting" if you enter their names, as weird as they are, I do believe they will have a dark world adventure with Kris. :3

absolutely love how rouxls makes a genuinely compelling candidate for the knight due to his characterization and motivations but has to be basically ruled out because of the technicality of him not being able to have made the cyber world fountain june 19th 2023 edit: still absolutely love this and still absolutely think about it occasionally but ive come back with new amazing insight: this whole candidacy invalidation snafu basically goes perfectly with his character. he would WANT to be the knight, or make people think he was, he would drum up all this bravado and try to sound dramatic and offer seemingly sound explanations, gloating to the delta warriors about how HE was the knight, HE was the one pulling the strings all along behind the scenes, how they were but mere wormes squirming betwixt his cunning digits, but the actual knight would just be standing in the room with them and ralsei would have to point that out to rouxls and he'd just say GOD DAMMIT

I think "long hand" is being taken too literally. "Long arm of the law" is a common enough saying that doesn't imply the law has an actually long arm. It instead is used to demonstrate that the law is hard to escape, as if it had a long reach. I think long hand could be similarly not literal. perhaps the knight has a long reach.

I actually think Asgore is a strong contender for the Knight. It's implied that while he was in the service he had something to do with December's disappearance, and likely is what drove him and Toriel apart due to Kris, Ariel, and Noelle's friendship. I believe he would definitely be desperate enough to correct this mistake and try to bring her back by any means, even if it endangers others, especially if it means possibly getting his old life back.

It's also worth noting that, at the VERY least, Berdly cares deeply for Noelle, and even if he's a jerk to everyone else, he's always well-intentioned when it comes to her. For one, Noelle mentions that Berdly's always nice to her when it's just the two of them, and he admits to pretending to have a crush on Noelle because he thought she was only helping him because she had a crush on him, implying that he faked liking her for YEARS just because he didn't want to break her heart. And most notably, he immediately jumps into a fight with Kris during Snowgrave despite being warned to run away because he could tell something was wrong with Noelle, quite literally at the cost of his life. The only time he puts Noelle in harms way INTENTIONALLY (and without good reason) is during his fight with Kris and Noelle in the normal route, but something tells me he wasn't really taking that fight seriously, as most (if not all) of the dark world battles have a sort of comedic/non-serious sort of vibe to them. That said, it seems unlikely that he would be the knight, as the knight KNOWS about the roaring. If he knew what he would doing could potentially seriously harm and/or kill Noelle, he probably wouldn't do it. (Then again this is just what I took from his character, maybe I'm wrong and he's actually just a douche, but Toby Fox isn't really in the business of making characters so one-dimensional.)

Even though his opportunity is weak, there’s a scary amount of evidence for Rouxls Kaard. One that you missed is that the sound effect for Kris creating the dark fountain at the end of Chapter 2 is actually RK’s teleportation sound slowed down.

I feel like you really underestimated Papyrus's chances. He has hands (which some could describe as long) and an undefined amount of fingers (which means he could have either 4 or 5), he's a big person who could fit in the computer lab's closet, he has ample opportunity to create Dark Fountains as he supposedly stays all day at home, he has very strong ties to the theme of "Forgetting" and "Escapism" as he's a lonely 'loser' who could really use of fun dark world adventures, as you mentioned in UT he wanted to be a Knight, in both chapters when you knock on his house he runs away implying he's socially anxious, and that could explain why if he was the Knight he'd create a fountain in the lab and run away since Noelle and Berdly were unexpectedly there, and last but not least the Steam page for the game Toby specifically says Papyrus is "busy"... peharps busy opening dark fountains? We have no reason to believe that the Knight truly knows what the Roaring is/does or that they don't have a different perception of it, i mean, if they really wanted to cause it why not just open 15 fountains in a row? Why wait a whole day to open a single one? About him being goofy, i mean, Flowey exists and he's similarly goofy. But still, the different circumstances of DR's timeline/world could've led Papyrus to become more bitter and less goofy person, we've already seen how the different circumstances can make UT characters very different, Mettaton is even more depressed than how he sounded in his UT diaries. Also, i agree with your other theory that Papyrus will die at the end and Sans will go to Undertale's world without him, but like, wouldn't that hit harder if Papyrus was an actual character instead of just a plot device for Sans's story? Imagine if Papyrus's death was somehow directly or indirectly caused by himself if he was the Knight, it'd make the two bros even more tragic.

Gosh, it's crazy to see that people are calling cringe on practically everything these days. Like, how antisocial/boring one has to be in order to get annoyed with an excited human being who is obviously happy to share his incredible revelations about unpredictable plot twists... x) There's really nothing wrong with your way of delivering info. I really enjoy your "dramatic" tone, to be honest. If anything, it only demonstrates your sincere interest and genuine desire to figure out hidden plot twists, which is cool!

I agree that it's extremely unlikely that Ralsei could be the Knight, but it might be notable that his hat seemingly conceals his face really well, if Susie's surprise at seeing him without it is any indication. If he were the Knight, maybe he was wearing his hat when he opened the Cyber World fountain, or not wearing it the first time he met Spade King, which is why neither King nor Queen recognized him as the Knight. (Though if that were the case, King would likely recognize him in Chapter 2, once he's taken the hat off, so it still doesn't really add up.)

I can just imagine a tall, buff prime age Gerson walking up to a small, annoyed Ralsei. Like it's an anime or something.

one small detail that i feel the need to point out. when Kris opens the dark world at the end of chapter two we see smoke fill the room and kris walks back over to the sofa. this shows that when a dark fountain is made it takes a moment to form. it is entirely within reason to believe that you could open a dark fountain in a room and then leave the room before the dark world forms. so you could conceivably make a dark world without ever entering it.

At the end of chapter 2, Noelle talks about how great the dark world is, and how she prefers it. What if Dess went to the dark world, thought the same thing, except she decided to stay? It would make sense as to why she seemingly disappeared with no trace.

I could see a scenario where when Toby Fox was making Rouxls Kaard, he noticed the same initials for Rouxls Kaard and the Roaring Knight and decided to have a little fun with us and throw some red herrings just to make us either confused or horrified that he's hinting that Rouxls Kaard is the knight

Personally, I think Papyrus is the Knight, I don't know why but I think it's more likely than any other Undertale character we haven't seen in Deltarune (with the exception of Gaster), I think it makes sense for him to be The Knight because in UT he wants to be a part of the royal guard and (I believe) refers to his clothing as body armour, so he does have armour, not every returning character is the exact same as they were previously so maybe his difference is that he finally gets to be a guard/knight. No clue in terms of motivation but I still think this is possible

If I remember correctly, Toby made a Twitter(?) post that Deltarune was originally going to have an animated intro sequence, and at the end, the Delta Warriors were ascending a tall staircase, surrounded by the main enemies of each chapter, and at the top was the Knight in front of a white door. The "white door" INSTANTLY made me think of the Mystery Man door in Waterfall, and of course, people theorize that the Mystery Man is Gaster. My guess is that even if the MM isn't Gaster, the Knight si whoever the Mystery Man is, or his Deltarune counterpart, or whatever you wish to think. Granted, Toby definitely could have changed the story since then, as he scrapped the animated into entirely, or I could be misremembering ENTIRELY, but it's something I think about a lot when discussion of "who is the Knight" is brought up (and also something I hardly hear ANYONE talk about).

One thing I want to bring up is the whole "Does or does not have armor" thing. All the Lightner characters we've seen in the Dark World go through a very extensive outfit change upon entering the Dark World. Both Kris and Berdly gain armor as part of their Dark World outfit despite neither wearing anything even resembling armor in the Light World. While you could argue some characters fit into a suit of armor better than others, there is really nothing to suggest a correlation between armor in the Light World and armor in the Dark World. I mean, if we didn't know of the Undertale version of Asgore, would you think of him in a suit of armor?

I love the idea of Temmie being the Knight. Just the idea that Toby asked Temmie Chang something like "Hey, you know that joke character based on you we included in Undertale? Can I make her the main villain of my next game?" is hilarious to me.

I mean Ralsei definitely has some secrets. How did they even leave the Card Kingdom to enter the Cyber one? Can't darkners not leave into the real world? And why didn't HE turn into a statue in Cyber world despite him being their for the whole day of chapter 2? When we come back from the Spamton fight in the normal route, my guy Ralsei literally just walks outside the path into the dark area during the cutscene of them comforting Kris. ALSO, here's a really suspicious detail. Remember in chapter 1 when we are focusing on Susie trying to Jailbreak us? Just as we cut back to Ralsei and Kris, Ralsei tells Kris "...So that's why.. Ok Kris?" And then Susie opens the door. Maybe Ralsei tells us to focus on Susie to divert the attention of the player while he talks to Kris?

Love the fact that, since the dog is a representation of the creator Toby, you didn't even try to make arguments for or against it being the knight. And honestly, how can you? They are literally backwards God (dog, hehe) in this world.

i really want to know the japanese translation of “the remaining king put him and his strange son into power” as japanese both doesn’t have confusing third person pronouns, and DOES have confusing third person pronouns, as the pronouns are usually omitted in their entirety. perhaps for these two reasons, the japanese translation of this line MIGHT provide further clarity as to who’s being referred to.

Personally, I think there is a likely fate for Chara in the Deltarune universe. As shown by the library books regarding humans, it is clear that they are present in the Light World, just not in Hometown. Hometown seems to be a majority-monster community, and self-contained. Asriel going outside of Hometown to go to college is definitely a part of the reason he’s a literal “hometown hero,” and him going out into a place where humans (whom monsters may be scared of) reside. Asriel’s college is likely full of humans. In addition, we know that characters in Deltarune have similarities in their relationships to other characters. Asgore is still friends with Rudy, and formerly married to Toriel. Bratty and Catty are complete opposites. In Undertale, Chara became Asriel’s adopted sibling. On that note, I believe Chara is currently Asriel’s roommate.

the bizzare thing is that while Noelle being the knight makes no sense, her having DID is actually bafflingly possible. like you mentioned, there are craters around her, which definitely didn't come from Queen since craters are never shown to be a result of her fighting things, probably didn't come from the werewires since they use lasers, and didn't come from Noelle since she's so timid and reluctant to fight. DID is caused by severe trauma, and Noelle has been through a lot. and her gaps in memory in the snowgrave route are weird as hell, but could be explained by this. as much as i dislike the idea of an "evil alternate persona" DID thing, it's one of my least favorite tropes as a part of a system myself, i think Toby would handle it with a level of nuance that would make it less problematic, and i think it's actually really likely for this to happen, especially in the snowgrave route as her alter(s) might get fed up with Kris and try to fight back.

Based on other theories I've read, I believe that Dess is trapped in a dark world (Noelle repeatedly searches up her name she doesn't have a gravestone, and she is likely the one calling for help in the files and likely sings Don't Forget), the case of her disappearance is why Asgore lost his job, and Asgore is creating the dark fountains to find her. This, as well as his actions in Undertale, explains why he is desperate enough to put the school's children in danger.

For your theory: Gerson was a good friend of Dreemurr family in UT universe. Asgore's flower shop has a mysterious dooron second floor and an extra side entrance on first. That could be his next target - Flower King shop.

The massive length of this video scared me from committing to watching it for a while, but once I started, I didn't want to stop watching! It was wonderful for listening to in the background, not too distracting but was very interesting and gave me a lot to think about in regards to theorycrafting and Deltarune lore.

I had a theory that the roaring knight might be like the player character. A disembodied entity that can take control of characters and puppet them to do its bidding. Much like the player who, as many theories suggest, is an entity controlling Kris like a puppet.

One problem I see with the physique speculation of the knight that I have never seen addressed is that the night was in the light world when they created the fountain. If, even a small person with a pencil, stretched out their hand over a playing card, they would easily see it as long and the pencil quite possible as a form of blade. And when we see kris make the dark fountain, we see it does not immediately make a dark world, but instead the darkness slowly oozes out allowing for, I presume, some darkeners to form first, and for the knight to leave before they get pulled in. So yes, they could've been seen by many people, but it could've been in the form of a lightener cowering over them. How would it work if a lightener, still in the light world, was in the vicinity of an incomplete dark world like kris was right before the end of chapter 2? Just a thought.

Something to add to the part about Rouxls Kaard, I don’t have it but I remember seeing that someone datamined some scrapped attacks from Rouxls. The interesting thing about these attacks was that they were impossible to dodge. Either Rouxls is going to get a fight with a special mechanic in the future that will let you dodge those prototype attacks, or he is going to fight you with significant force.

I live for this level of insane dedication. Entertaining every idea just to reach a conclusion is the most brute-force, hilarious methodology.

It wouldn’t be that much of a surprise if Papyrus is the Roaring Knight because we haven’t seen him at all yet, and it’d be interesting to see how much a character can change from their Undertale to Deltarune self. Papyrus plays such an important role in Undertale; it is difficult to believe that he wouldn’t play any role in Deltarune.

I so badly want Mad Mew Mew to be the knight. She's by far my favorite character in all of Undertale, and it would be so funny for her to be the main villain

An interesting thing about Shawm is that, based on his dialogue, he knows who the next secret boss will be... BEFORE Kris creates that Dark Fountain. HOW?! Roaring Knight he is not, but clearly something deeper than "learned shopkeep" is going on here!

I think Papyrus has more evidence to being the Roaring Knight then you might think, if you consider his Undertale line about him being in closets (no skeletons in my closet --- except for maybe me!) Hes very tall, too, so the closet is big enough for him to fit inside -- and the fact the dude implies he knows a lot more about whats going on then he lets on in Undertale as well. (like pretending he doesnt know what a laboratory is infront of others, but when you talk to him alone he knows exactly what it is and explains Sans likes science and shit) Regardless of disagreeing Papyrus is unlikely a contender, great work!

Guys, don't you realise it? The annoying dog is the knight! Since he was in the library in chapter 1, he could have easily hid in the closet, and since he is so small, he created the cyber world dark fountain without anybody noticing!

A lot of physical characteristics could be figures of speech. Especially long arm; this could just mean they have a large area of influence.

personally I feel like [Hyperlink blocked] has multiple meanings. There's a moment that always stood out to me in the weird route "and I'll show you my and I'll show you my [4 left]" it gave me absolute chills to read that, but even moreso when I analyzed it. This feels like he was trying to say something and almost was forced into saying [Hyperlink blocked] then found a way around it by slightly altering what he said a second time.

"Queen would've recognized the Knight" "King would've recognized the Knight" Queen couldn't recognize Noelle when she wore a cardboard box on her head. Similarly, the King is not terribly smart. "Asgore wouldn't want to hurt children" Asgore wouldn't want to, but he's shown he's also perfectly willing to hurt or kill children if he believes it is necessary "The Knight would oppose the Delta Warriors" Both the King and Queen made assumptions about the Knight's intentions. If we assume the Knight is aware that the Card Kingdom Fountain was closed, and the Cyber City Fountain was opened after the Card Kingdom Fountain was closed, then the Knight choosing to leave Cyber City after making the fountain indicates that they are perfectly okay with the Delta Warriors closing fountains, and in fact, this may be part of their plan. Similarly, the Knight may or may not be aware of the nature of the Roaring itself

I'm a little late for this, but one thing I wanna add to the RK is Roaring Knight part is that the sound effect when Kris creates a fountain is Rouxls' teleportation sound slowed down. Could be just Toby reusing sound effects to make things easier tho, with him you can never know

A couple things bother me here. First of all, long arm doesn't need to be taken literally. The long arm of the law is a metaphor for the power the law wields and the same could easily be true here. Secondly, Kris and gang change their appearance when entering the dark world, with Kris' skin tone changing and their cothes becoming armour despite not having anything to do with armour, or even the blue and purple/pink motiff. With that in mind, I don't see any reason why the Knight would need to have a suit of armour before entering the dark world. The Knight also probably has a better understanding of how the dark world works, so it seems reasonable they could just alter their apperance, even changing/growing limbs if need be. Ralsei also cannot be determined to be an entirely reliable source and given he is the main source of information about the Roaring (if memory serves), he could be wrong, misinformed or simply lying for whatever reason.

I actually love the idea of Rouxls being the Knight lol. He's not so silly that it would feel dumb to have him be that sort of twist villain,, and I think an antagonist whose whole thing is wanting to devote themselves to a literal God of destruction is actually kinda cool? Like, instead of being the big bad because he wants something for himself, he's actively seeking to get himself thrown into an equally treacherous position all for the sake of having somebody to worship. Idk it just seems intriguing to me,, the concept of the villain actually being a spineless dog

The only character known to have the last name Boom is Gerson, so it’s possible that Alvin’s sister is the librarian. It’s not unreasonable for someone to visit their sister, especially if she worked at a public place, which would make it inconspicuous for him to go to the library And of course, this also supports your final theory

Let’s not forget that Rouxls also bears heavy resembles to Gaster, his nature as the rules card parallels Gaster nicely, and even subtly has Gaster’s motif playing in parts of his theme. There is an uncomfortable connection between Kaard and Gaster that nobody is talking about.

A lot of channels want to milk content by making tons of smaller videos, and a lot gets lost the process or they have to repeat the same points in every video. HERE'S SOMETHING THAT IS GUARANTEED TO [Kill You] If Rouxls Kaard had absorbed a Lightner's soul, which is what he would need in order to be the Knight, then not only would he be able to create Dark Fountains, he would also be able to retain his form in the Light World instead of turning into an inanimate object. As such, it's possible that he used his ability to teleport to get out of Kris' pocket and into the computer lab, created the Dark Fountain, then teleported back into Kris' spacious pant holes. As for why he wasn't discovered with his physical form, is it not possible he would be able to turn back into a card? We see Lancer go from being a card to having a physical body in the Cyber World, so I think it's safe to assume that the opposite can also happen, which would also explain why, if we check the cards in our inventory, we still see him as a normal rules card. Sidenote: when talking about Seam's "him and his strange son" line, while it is possible that he was talking about the Knight and the Knight's son, or the King and the King's son, it's also possible that he meant the Knight and the King's son, which doesn't really matter for most of the candidates, but I felt like pointing it out lol

Imagine at the end of Deltarune there's some really scary music, Ralsei is the only one with you, suddenly everything becomes black, except for Kris and Ralsei, and there's a dialogue text in the screen: "I am the Knight. Do you know who it is?" "NO? WELL, I WAS GOING TO KILL YOU EITHER WAY!" Then Onionsan himself appears on screen.

Also idk about Noelle's personality disorder, on both playthroughs I thought the evidence that Noelle showed puts her much more towards the idea that she seems to auto-repress traumatic memories, seeming to blank out, for a time, then coming back to consciousness not even remembering what just happened

the way multiple characters refer to the knight as "It" seems to me to suggest that the Knight is somehow robotic or not entirely a "person" with "identity" necessarily so much as a "force" (as in "force of nature" but not necessarily... nature based). i think this acts as a stronger piece of evidence that the discarded Vessel is the Knight, but that's just me

I think it would be so damn cool if in Chapter 3 you go into a grassy field, like the one in undertale, and flowey pops out of the ground and says “Missed me didn’t you?”
