There is a reason it's lasted 100 years - it's still one of the most fun crazy games you'll ever play and it's easy to play to any pre-arranged score total if you find it too long. Also it plays to all ages.
My apologies for the shots I took here showed me not using all the same commodity in some places.I do realize those clips were not correct but when playing we did play it with trading only same commodities. The game still lasts way too long and is only fun for 2-3 hands, then it's too same-y and repetitive. The final thoughts are the same. Sorry for any play confusion this may have caused.
Sad you don't like this game. One of the greatest game to bring to non-gamers houses. They just want to play over and over again. I can't even count the number of times I have played this and lost my voice because we played for so long. The more people the merrier!
Wow get your rules right buddy you can only trade one type of commodity at a time otherwise the game would never end because no one would ever be able to get to a set of 9
Wow man don't be so harsh. Dan puts out great quality reviews. He might of just slipped up during recording. You could of just gave him a friendly comment instead of such a negative one. :-(
It wasn't meant to be a negative comment. Just pointing out a glaring rules error. Which I think is fair since it breaks the game and he gave the game a bad review. I love Dan King and hope to meet him someday, but ill still point out when he gets his rules wrong.
... And I always found it best to set a time frame rather than a set score. Rounds go faster that way. Plus yes the rules error as others have mentioned is important
One way to spice up playing this game is to change the numbers to random other stuff. for example instead of shouting "Two" or "One" we change for example to "Beer" and "whiskey" or "ducks" and "cats". It really makes the game more fun, and you can do it in your language and do whatever words you want, and different ones for each round too.
Unfortunately Panic on Wall Street is out of print, & very expensive (at least at the moment). Pit is fun, but only if played for a round, & not to a most pts. in so many games, in my opinion. Is there another game in print with a similar feel that you'd recommend as an alternative?!
I grew up with Pit, and now that I am a board gamer, I have returned to this game and introduced it to friends and board gamers. Sure it's not a game to play for a long time, but its fun. It is currently my 36th favorite game. Panic on Wall Street is definitely my "Stock Market" game of choice, but it just sits on my grail list. Sure hope they do another print run. I check weekly for Panic, and about 20 other hard to find games. I've had Pit forever and have never played. I'll crack it open tomorrow for 3 or 4 rounds, see how it goes. It will be a mini preview- a Tiny Epic Panic on Wall Street.
Well I'm pretty disappointed in your review I was certain you would love it I would agree the playing to 500 can be a little long but I would definitely play more than 4 rounds I would probably play for a half hour to 45 minutes and then figure out who had the most points I think that you missing that simple rule about only being able to trade one commodity at a time might have messed up your game play because there definitely is a game and from my experience better players will often win it's logically figuring out who is trading what and who has the bear and who has the bull and trading with the right people but it's okay I agree with most of your reviews
