Zest I have to agree. No relapse of this kind is random. Especially after such a long time being sober. I can almost bet that she struggled for quite some time with something and then there was a drop that spilled. I just really hope she doesn't think of herself as a failure because of this, especially considering how vocal she was about her issues.
it wasnt random that she overdose. she was sober for 6 years and went back to taking big hits like she use to do. her brain and body was ready for it because of being 6 years sober. that couldve killed her.
Erika M I’m only 12.. I got stunned .. you might not believe me, but I got high 2 times in 1 day w my friends .. it’s fine if u don’t believe (I have no proof because we snook out or ran away idek) me,
When I was a preteen, some of my friends would try to smoke or drink alcohol, so I'm not surprised at all. I can't tell you what to do, but I will warn you; getting yourself involved with drugs or alcohol can have lasting effects, and none of them are good for your mind or body. You're still young, so you should enjoy life doing the things that you love. You might think it's fun now, but those drugs will slowly start to turn into an addiction that will be very hard to get out of in the future. Be careful little one.
God is real and His son's blood is real. Deliverance is real. Demi needs to get deliverance through Jesus Christ and change her life before it's TOO LATE! Everyone is sorry in hell but for most the JUDGEMENT IS FINAL. Don't play with God.
MidlightStar Bro. It's called depression. And that when you do a drug like meth, heroine, cocain. Your on it for life. I'm not going to say your stupid but just plain ignerent
We knew she wasn’t sober because of her new single obviously but I didn’t think it’d come to this. 😞 I hope she’s okay & comes back better than ever! ❤️
Don't worry kids, it's okay to get strung out and do drugs! As long as your famous ;) The shit you guys will condone, yet still hate people that use cannabis. Unreal lol.
Joshua James you’re assuming a lot of things there? Lol. I’m 22. Ive struggled with alcohol addiction for years. I know how it is. It’s not easy. I wouldn’t judge anybody & would wish the best for anyone. Plus I’m all for marijuana. It’s also a drug too though.
Joshua James She was doing sooooo well, we were proud of her for THAT. Not for using drugs! Get real. We are heartbroken she lost with her addiction but she will become sober again!
ive recently have had 2 really good friends that have been sober for 20 years and they relapsed and this time it killed them both two separate times like maybe 4 months apart im just glad this one didnt kill Demi..........stay strong Demi you have soo many people that love you
Omg a famous person overdoses or dose drugs and people say I'll send my prayers but when a junkie overdose you say they deserved it or they brought it on there sleeves we're all people. At the end of the day we all bleed red.
That wasn’t even the case for Demi people made fun of her and said they wished it upon herself. She was even a meme at one point meanwhile people was heartbroken and missing Mac Miller. Doesn’t make sense to me
This breaks my heart. She is such a talented and beautiful young lady, I can’t imagine the pressure it takes to do what she does. I hope her journey will continue on a healthy path with the right people by her side to help her heal and be back to singing her heart out.
You are such a classy lady Robin Roberts. If all of us showed each other just half of the compassion that you have written all over your face for this young woman this world would be a better place. You are definitely the best at what you do.
People do drugs because life inherently sucks! Our capacity to feel pain vs our capacity to feel pleasure is incredibly asymmetrical. An orgasm doesn’t feel as good as a broken bone feels bad for example. People do drugs (I have an alcohol problem) in order to try and balance things out. The crappy part is, the good feelings don’t last for long.
World Exploder your making drugs sound like it’s not that bad and that u can escape from shitty life with it and that it’s only temporary. You should probably delete your comment
World Exploder If you have an alcohol problem I suggest you try lsd. As you might think I'm talking out of my ass but lsd was a proven method in 50s and 60s before the government banned it without looking at the research. Psychedelic drugs are great for one thing and that is for you to have a conversation with yourself about your own bullshit and how you can get over it.
Angie Penny She probably didn’t mean to OD. Lots of people who go sober/detox for a long period of time lose their tolerance. So she may have taken the same amount that used to give her a high, but because she lost that tolerance she ODed. Stop making her a criminal for ODing, she obviously wasn’t in the right state of mind. Someone I knew ODed on Anti-Depression pills and died, he only had a couple months detox, and wasn’t suicidal.
Megacrafti I don’t know much about her besides her name. And I’ve had a long fucking day. I’m on caffeine pills because I don’t want to sleep right now, I don’t think I deserve to. shhh sometimes others have to care about you so you see the worth in caring about yourself.
Derek A, it's not a step. It's simply a part of the healing process. Each relapse makes someone more resilient. I could sit here all day and discuss all the facets of the human condition, and how they correlate to the disease of addiction. But I would prefer to help people who are struggling with addiction, as I do.
eugeniacxanaz craftbuddhamusicrainzyxp, Addiction is a brain disease; a lifelong brain disease with adverse biological, neurological, genetic, psychological, and sociological implications. The disease of addiction is also a spiritual sickness. Remember, we must be healthy mentally, physically and spiritually to be in optimum health. I have studied anatomy, and the disease of addiction for many years. The human condition is complex web that we should all enlighten ourselves to. Please feel free to visit a Facebook self help group that I founded, "Heroin Epidemic Help". We have addiction specialists on standby 24/7 at facebook.com/groups/548338051970019/. There is alot of very helpful information there. Check it out. Then decide for yourself. I am not ashamed to admit that I am a recovering addict of 20 years of use. I never counted relapses. I just learned from them. Today, I am a business owner, and single father of 5 boys; most fulfilling, but hardest job in the world. Through my use, I have helped many others to manage the disease of addiction. I say manage, because there is no cure. Through helping others, I have helped myself. This individual must completely change their thinking, thus behavior. It is a profoundly difficult challenge that tests ones resilience and endurance. Because the people, places and things in ones life must also completely change to recover. People downplay the difficulties of recovery when they do not understand how much must really change, and the fact that we all grow and improve differently. Because of this, people create stigma surrounding the addict, rather than understanding the disease, and supporting the addict. People aren't perfect, and addicts are no different. Imagine if you had a biochemical imbalance, and the only relief you found was through a drug. A psychiatrist must be diligent and determine a proactive plan of recovery. An addicts brain works differently. Many addicts are low in certain "feel good" neurotransmitters. (Understanding synapse and receptor function is helpful). I highly recommend that any recovering addict get a genealogy test to help determine the imbalance more specifically. This makes it easier for a psychiatrist to make a diagnosis, and prescribe a medication or medications to help the recovering addict to think and feel better. Together, we must all fight the disease of addiction with knowledge of the disease. I have had opportunities to help others manage the disease of addiction. I have never met an addict who has never relapsed at some point in life. Just a a baby stumbles when learning to walk, addicts stumble when learning to completely change their thinking, behavior, habits, people, places and things in their life. Seek first to understand before being understood.
Six years sober may seem like a long time, but when you compare it so being sober for the rest of her life it isn't long. We can get there again. She can get there. Keep her in your prayers. Ilove you Demi 💞
Why are we praying and caring for her and not others? There's people in poverty and in your own town experiencing this everyday and nobody cares for them. They are seen as dirty people who have no life and just ask for money to buy drugs. It's "don't talk to them" on the streets in New York but it's "we need to help her" because she's a celebrity?
Demi has a better track record. She brought happiness and smiles to a lot more kids than the homeless people on the streets. What have the random addicts on the NYC streets done? Not as much as Demi. But i do think everyone who goes through this problem should be cared for and not frowned upon.
In your ideal world, we should ignore everyone with problems then? What's so wrong about wishing someone to have good health? The only thing I got out of your paragraph was that *you* look down on the homeless. There's many many people that will go out of their way to support people on the streets, so speak for yourself.
Cross OveR I'm not saying that we should ignore people's health problems. What I'm saying is that it's such a big deal when a celebrity overdoses when it's a big deal anyways. It's very looked over. You can't tell me that if you saw a homeless person on the streets that you wouldn't stay away from them. The first encounter I had with a homeless person was in San Francisco. I was young and he told me, "Stay away from people like me. There are some of us that are good and some of us that will do bad things. I don't always looks like this but it's just best to stay away from everyone that looks like me."
Rewatching this now, Demi now admitted she was on heroin. It's still unacceptable that TMZ first revealed that when Demi herself couldn't defend herself when all the speculation happened.
Its hard to believe shes only 25 she seems she lived several lifetimes.she has accomplished so many things and has so much talent.lets not judge her lets all pray for her.she has had a father that abandoned her she has had eating disorders she has bipolar she like alot of people with mental illness self medicated and is and always will be an addict she has been very public about this and helped people to get sober.this is a set back but she can recover.thank god she has the resources for great help.im rooting for ypu demi you can beat this!
I needed to hear this report. My son fights this and has been for twenty years. I needed to be reminded his struggle isn’t equal to failure it just another opportunity to win again. Another chapter in their testimony not the end of their story
Did he really say that there’s nothing wrong with overdosing? And they are comparing cancer that people can’t control with substance abuse that’s controlled? I use to love pain pills, and when people say it’s a disease is an excuse for their actions. A victim mentality. A way for people to make money off of it because if it’s a disease then you must need medical attention and people profit from it.
Anime Artist how dare you!!! People show their support in many different forms, I love her and want her to get better. This is how I show support, it’s the only way I know how
K.E.C. Dude calm down and I've might've taken the wrong way. My apologies and your right ppl do it in different ways. I only said what I said because I thought you were making a joke.
Anime Artist are you into cycling or MT-Biking. I’ve gotten into downhill, I have a dope downhill Santa Cruz V10, I’m next bike is going to be a canon dale full suspension carbon frame.
I love demi with every bone in my body, but let me tell you something she did NOT forget those lyrics, and every lovatic I know agreed with me. She did it intentionally, she might forget a lyric here and there but not to a song like sober, and that’s when a lot of us really started to notice something wasn’t right.😭
You have to understand the background story. She had taken certain pain medication to help overcome and injury she sustained when she was younger. This led to her becoming addicted to the pain killers and ultimately led to her abuse of other drugs as well. Drug addiction is extremely hard to overcome so unless you have something supportive to say, maybe just don’t speak at all.
All I hear are excuses. Whenever I fail or feel terrible, I NEVER blame it on others, but only myself and think how I can improve. Blaming her drug addiction on pain and bullying is BS. Weak willed are those who cry in pain and commit suicide when bullied. Strong willed are those who rise.
I don't understand why addiction is looked at as something that happens to you, not something you inflict upon yourself. People obviously can't control what substances are addictive, but they can choose whether or not to use them in the first place. She had been sober for 6 years and chose to use again. I come from a family full of addicts, and I still have a hard time with that. I hope she recovers and continues to make the wise decisions that kept her sober for 6 years.
Thank you, this is exactly what she needs. Thank you for speaking up and saying so many wise, important things. The world doesn't have to be as big and scary as it makes itself out to be
important to been around people to give you the postive vibe not the negative vibes as you can handle for amount of time until you snap to been to strong to the others until it's known..she is a strong human being to tell it open which takes alot of courage and to who all are through, you know her!
I feel and hurt for her, she's such a sweet person and an amazing talented Artist. As a addict in recovery myself I know exactly what she is going through and I wish Demi nothing but the best and future sobriety. ♡
Michael Fuentes never is, it seems unimportant. Now I’m wishing Demi best of luck and hoping and praying she will pull thru, but apparently the illegal aspect just doesn’t matter. It’s because “oh she’s sick, she shouldn’t be in jail”, “she’s so famous, she can’t go to jail.” Yes, she can, she should be treated like any other person whose been on drugs. She should suffer the same consequences, regardless of what might happen after that. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth.
Michael Fuentes well it wasn't H. TMZ said it was. Then they went back and said it wasnt. Honesty to much of anything could make you od. So until Demi tells us what it was, we will never know. But she probably will. She has always been super honest.
Obviously personal choice comes in to play when a person decides whether or not to use a certain substance. No one denies that. The ignorance here is staggering. Read the literature . Quote the sources. Have some sort of thought out opinion that goes beyond how you "feel" about the "behavior" of addicts. Addiction and it's causes and how it changes your brain have been extensively studied and are well reviewed and documented by both the scientific and academic community . It's way beyond just calling someone stupid and saying they made bad decisions and therefore deserve to die. The girl is sick and she deserves our compassion. . If you're like 12 and saying this shit, fine. But it boggles my mind that there are actual adult human beings that are this fucking heartless and ignorant in the world.
This whole comment section is the deffinition of irony. If someone says they want her to die, why would you even care? She's not gonna die just because someone wishes her to die. Even if she comits suicide that's also her choice, again. People don't care because they have no reason to care. The ones who do care are most likely biased fans, who wouldn't care if it was just another junkie. In fact they'd mostly likely say the same ignorant shit about someone else whom they're not a fan of. I don't see what boggles your mind so much. You're stressing yourself over something pointless. People are like that and it's best to accept it and move on, minding your own bussines.
It's 100% her personal choice and fault. Regardless of academic literature, at the end of the day unless your body was taken over and physically forced the drug down your throat, it is 100% your fault for taking drugs. End of story, period.
Never heard of her before but i listened to that song and its very heartfelt regardess of whether she wrote it or not she does a great job covering it. I can tell you there's no way she's been sober for six years and I hate that people always have to hide their "relapse" like its shame. I dont think that helps anyone. I hope she gets the help she needs. There's no reason to feel this type of pressure. She doesn't owe anything to anyone else. Fans, media, family... no one. Sobriety is a personal choice. People who do not suffer from mental health disorders have absolutely no idea what it's like to live sober and how horrible it truly is. The only reason anyone seeks help is that Living with a substance abuse problem eventually becomes worse.
Did Robin Roberts just compare having a terminal disease like cancer to a person willingly taking drugs? CANCER IS NOT AN ADDICTION.I have no comment about Lovato but my goodness that comparison Roberts made was just ridiculous and an insult to people everywhere with cancer. Being that she has had cancer she should know cancer returning is not comparable to a drug addicts relapse. Not saying people should point fingers at addicts who relapse but people don't point fingers at people whose cancer returns because cancer is NOT AN ADDICTION ROBIN!
Ive been sober for 5 years and 8 months yesterday but hearing about this omg guys seriously ive been there before it just really hit home for me i love Demi Lovato i pray that she gets help cause we cant lose someone else that is so talented
Megan Ledford but the freedom that money brings, does...Not necessarily happiness, but freedom, which, in return, makes it easier to find happiness. Talking from experience.
Even people without money struggle with addiction. They even mention in this video that she has other mental health problems that make addiction worse. Don’t devalue the weight of the situation (that is not only suffered by one pop star, but impoverished people as well) by assuming it’s as simple as wasting extra money on drugs for shits and giggles.
Yes, cause having everything in the world takes away pain you've endured from others. I'm not saying it's okay to OD. But seriously? Are you that dense and simple minded? Addiction to drugs doesn't discriminate. It doesn't care about your race, class, religion, sex, age, wealth, etc.
Why the only TIME Y'ALL Wanna pray is when someone is in danger in the hospital or Dead?! What about praying on the Daily basis???! And Are you praying to my God The God of the Universe who made Heaven and Earth or pray to your idol god's? Repent of your Sins and Get Right with God. ❤️💯🙏
I love God as well but you can’t expect a news station to start every report with a prayer. Not every person believes in the same things you do. Not having the same views doesn’t make them sinners either.
Rachel Martin I pray on a daily basis and you don’t know what people are doing. If people are vocal about praying when a tragedy happens it’s because sometimes that is the one thing you can do to help. Stop pointing fingers and just welcome the prayers of people like God wants.
Gamer_ Girl she’s not, she’s foaming at mouth, must of been a sight to see, her shooting a heroin filled needle in her arm. Kicking, eyes rolling back, chocking!!! She’ll be fine, until her next OD
I’m sorry I know addicts need help and understanding and no one would attack someone that needs help. However, I can’t compare an addict to a cancer patient. A cancer patient doesn’t get a choice in the matter. Demi chose to be sober for 6 years. A cancer patient doesn’t get to choose their remission term. Again, I get how addiction works and there is nothing but love for Demi and all that suffer like her. However, it’s not at all like cancer.
As a recovering addict myself ( 3 years in October😄) I know all too well the shame that comes when one relapses after a significant amount of time clean and sober. This shame can cause severe depression, heavier usage than ever before, and worse.. suicidal ideation and possible attempts ( I know all of this all too well) & death ( you are WORTH LIFE Demi). I pray to God that my fellow sister Demi can recover successfully from this overdose and get the help she so desperately needs before the guilt and shame creates more despair. From one addict in recovery to another I LOVE you Demi ( and I do not even know your music) ...keep the faith and strength and know that through God and the Fellowship We CAN & DO RECOVER 😚👭🤜🤛👊
So glad she made it. So many have not and sick of hearing of all these losses. Thank God she is still alive. But will need lots of support. Lots! Now she will feel very fragile, after this.
@@cee_jay_mcc7914 u sthu she did overcome it .itd not her say when she'll get sad.. Some people just get triggered so bad it leads to this... I'm 14 and I did heroin and no she didn't influence me
@@cee_jay_mcc7914 I know how to spell and speak English I just love being a bitch and before you call me a moron you should acually listen to people's story's about how they overcome drugs and I didn't say I was preaching so stfu
Wow I'm impressed by how much support and encouragement they gave. The media could be so damn evil. Look what they did to Britney spears. They tore her down & it's no surprise she hasn't been the same since. Demi we know you can fight through this storm.
Demi will pull through keep your team that help you. Keep them around. Be healed and be blessed. May God take away that addiction in Jesus name Amen Amen Amen.
All I want to say about this is I really do hope she gets help and I’m so glad she is getting support BUT... I hope you are this supportive towards any addict on the street!
Now you are speaking sense. Honey, refer back to your earlier comment, "when her money and friends runt out she'll be sucking some 80 year old dick" , to what level is this comment appropriate to anyone, not to mention Demi who is being hospitalized and is in the worst state of her life? I am not supporting drugs in anyway. Did I say I did in my comment? No. There is no need to attack her with rude words. We can speak like a decent, educated human being to each other. Do I make my points clear? Now, stop attacking her and other people in the way you did because it is disrespectful. There is no need to put another human being down. All is needed is words of encouragement for her to stop relapsing and finally get out of this illness for good.
Because drug addiction is a big social problem and it must be spoken out louder in order to aware the society about symptoms, characteristics and behaviors related to that in function to prevent and to deal with the problem through the support and help of the public Health Institutions. That's why...
Your SO STRONG Demi...Im so proud of you! Remember your human, and I KNOW you will get thru this! We DO RECOVER!! #togetherwearestrong #empathy #yougotthis
Addiction is NOT a disease. Addiction is something you have FULL CONTROL of preventing. It might be difficult (peer pressure) but it’s 100% NOT a disease. It’s something that you allow to happen to you.
CraziCrafters 87 My dad was an alcoholic and you are so wrong lmao. You clearly haven't had experiences with addiction or addicts. Go live life then come back to me.
I’m going to say what someone once quoted. If you say that addiction is a disease, you are basically saying the brain cannot change. It’s at its final destination. You can overcome addiction. It’s something that with time and effort, can be put to an end. Please, look up the definitions of disease and addiction. And then please *calmly* explain to me how addiction is a disease
JediMasterKAC you said, quote “My dad *was* and alcoholic” Was is a key word, meaning, he OVER CAME his ADDICTION. YOU CANT OVERCOME a disease. you just contradicted yourself in the same sentence trying to explain it was a disease.
This is so sad. My prayers are with you. Its not her fault that she got addicted to some form of drugs, they are very addictive.. She is an amazing singer and was trying hard to stay sober.. Dont blame her people.. 😢😢
K.E.C. Addiction is a disease. Demi is fighting extremely hard to get better and to find help. And clearly, she's a much smarter and kinder person than you'll ever be. So you have absolutely no right to call her names. Addiction is a disease like any other. When someone relapses in cancer, no one says anything, but when someone relapses in an addiction, everyone points fingers. Demi will get better because she is strong, and because people like you are just background noise. She has the support of the people who care about her.
WHYYOUSMILINGWHENYOURNEXT? huh? well that's good for you, way to look out for someone other then yourself, hope she gets help too!! but just like you not giving a shit about the bum overdosing down the street from your house, I don't give a shit about a drug addicted musician who will say one thing and will be dead in a year with a needle in her arm!!
