It’s ironic to me that people watch this and think “wow she’s so strong, so amazing” but when we see someone on the street clearly struggling with the same problems, we look down on them and scrutinise them so heavily. What a world we live in.
To be honest, it depends more over on how you see them. And I don't mean you specifically, but I mean anyone. Personally for me, I would see a homeless addict in streets the same way I see Demi, which is someone who is in need of help. But, not everyone will see it in that perspective because the homeless person is homeless, which puts them down on the list in our society, whereas a celebrity will make it in the news because they're a celebrity.
while she was sharing her eating disorder story I teared up because it's 5pm and I haven't eaten anything in two days so I ordered myself a bunch of food. I'm not starving myself anymore.
I cant say that any other person in her position with this platform has ever been this vulnerable, raw, and real with us. She deserves all the love and support we have!

Demi really made a great point. “They want what’s best for me but don’t always have all the information.” As a result, her friends lives have been ruined because of misconstrued information.

fans are not friends or family and should stay out of celebrities personal life, cuz they need personal space as well, that being said celebrities should stop calling their fans ''friends'' or ''family'' cuz that makes their fans have delusions about the relationship and feel entitled there's surely a better way to show your fans you appreciate them then something that's unhealthy and simply not true as matter of fact
“How much heartbreak can you have at 16?!” Stuff like this bothers me so much. Adults truly believe you have nothing to stress over or be sad about because you’re young. Age doesn’t mean a thing when it comes to pain. And it’s not a competition on who’s been through more pain than the next. What I’m going through may be the worst thing IVE ever experienced because it’s ME. When adults say stuff like that or, “you have nothing to be stressed about, I have to pay bi-“ it just makes me so upset and leads me to just keep everything to myself until I have a mental breakdown.
And people dont seem to get that what now can sound shallow to you, for a teen, it's their first time going through that, their mentality is different, they have different mechanisms to deal with things. You cant judge yourself or anyone for something from the past using the mentality you have now.
exactly! and pain is relative too! like someone who has been through a lot may take something a lot better than someone who has had a decent life up until something bad happens and they totally breakdown because they have never experienced something like that before. Everyone feels pain differently and it isn’t fair to discredit someone and their experiences because you dealt with it better than they did. I wish adults understood this.
The fact that paparazzi still overwhelmed her and invaded her privacy while going through something so personal is absolutely horrible. Just because she’s a celebrity and is occasionally vulnerable doesn’t mean it’s okay for them to invade her personal space during something like this.
“To The Early Squad Reading This: sending virtual hugs to everyone who needs it! stay safe and positive in these difficult times❤️ My Dream is to hit 11k subs, I’m struggling a bit and I need ur support plz.
It breaks my heart to hear Chris Harrison say "Come on! How much heartbreak can you have at 16?!?" knowing what she had actually already been through at that age.
Yeah females for some reason think they're the only ones to ever do drugs and have sex.... or their emotional state is completely unique and no one would understand! meanwhile there's 500 million homeless drug addicts that didn't have 40 million dollars or herds of people bringing them free drugs and pedicures and starbucks but DEMI IS SUCH A VICTIM AND HERO! lmao
There is such a huge difference when someone says “you need to do ...” and punishing you vs “let me help you “ “im here for you” “I’m not leaving your side”
Absolutely and when you have the type of personality Demi does. She will fight being told what to do. We all need to feel in control of our own lives on some level.
Agreed. Using the passion of being a fan of some artists and using it as an excuse to harass and buliy someones life is awful and I've seen this happen in other fan communities.
the real focus should be on the assistant that massively lagged in calling 911 and when she did told them no sirens aka stop at every red light and stop sign...dont rush. Something shady about her. I have a feeling she may have helped facilitate the heroine and was afraid when the OD happened.
if you look at the footage of demi drinking with the glittery makeup in a yellow top, you literally see Dani signaling to the bartender “don’t pour too much” or “that’s enough.” She WAS taking care of Demi even tho Demi is a grown woman. She’s a great friend and I’m so sad she got so much backlash :/
@@minnidena7527 yeah but there's a huge difference between being a heroin dealer and taking credit for something that wasn't yours. Don't equate the two
I can understand that demi wasn't in a place to defend her friend at the time but the fact that not even her team or her publicist or anyone spoke out on her behalf to defend her friend is really messed up. a simple "demi is not ready to talk about the events of that night but her friend had nothing to do with it" would've sufficed
@@kloverc2657 she never signed up to be your role model tho. You can admire her strength and will to keep going but she definitely shouldn’t be your “role model”

This episode just proves that stan culture is so toxic. Fans gotta stop feeling entitled to be a part of their favorite artists. We aren't part of their lives, there's a limit.
@Halcyon Days so true I mean I love Demi and a lot of singers but only in a respectful manner. I mean yes I was concerned for her overdose and worried like the rest of them but I wouldn’t harass or hate her personal friends for no reason without supporting evidence or proof! That’s what separates normal respectful fans and the creep crazy ones!!
Not arguing, but to add to your point, it really doesn’t help that the music industry takes advantage of artists and the pressures to the extent that artists almost literally rely on their fans to keep them afloat to the extent that fans feel like they do have control and there isn’t a limit.
I read a comment on the Grammy’s performance vid that was like, “If Demi hadn’t made it, this would’ve been her legacy song, the last song she recorded before she died... so glad she didn’t, she has so much more to do...” and I got such chills. She says it foreshadowed her OD... insane that it’s foreshadowing her rock bottom but not death or escaping death...
“abusing your abuser is not where the healing is gonna come from” powerful line that most people don’t realize 🙏🏼 praying for Demi’s true healing. she needs to take a break from Hollywood because it’s eating her up
She needs to go back on the needle. She was cooler when she was using. She didn’t try to tell everyone ice cream is racist or what ever she was saying.
I think Demi’s sister’s response was the most honest in regards to ‘giving up’ on her. I’ve dealt with being around someone with addiction and I think it’s a lie or naïve to say that you’ve never wanted to give up on someone with addiction. It becomes tiring after years 😕. You don’t want to give up, but often people place you in that position where you don’t have much of a choice
People are complicated like that. Someone can be the villain of one person's story and the hero in someone else's, and both can be equally true of somebody.
@@samvalle563 exactly I don’t understand how they didn’t figure it out after she was literally singing she wasn’t sober 🤦🏽♀️ ..the tour should’ve ended when that song came out.
I wish Selena was interviewed about this too, she and Demi were inseparable during their Disney days before they had a fallout. I don't want them to talk about the fallout but about things that happened during that time
Selena and Demi... that's a very complicated relationship. I think they experienced a lot of trauma around the same time and handled things differently. I think how they are now is fine and shouldn't be made into a spectacle. They both seem to wish each other the best and I think that's more than enough for them.
Also rather unlikely the abuser would feel "abused" this way, so the whole idea is all wrong to begin with, as much as I can understand wanting to "get that power back"
Especially celebrities. Kardashians for example we see and have seen a ton of their lives for a long time but weve seen a quarter of their actual lives. We see what they want us to see. We think we know them we have literally no idea.
That Scooter person saying "we knew we needed to manage her because she needed a friend". Nobody you pay is your friend. She still seems to be surrounded by sycophants leeching off of her. I guess deep inside she knows that and that's why she's using, too.
They should have been there more. A true friend picks up on when another friend lies. They had no clue she was on drugs. Pay attention to your friends people!
I just released a 1:11:11 long freestyle on my channel, It's insanely hard to get noticed on this platform so please come show some love, you may just witness history in the making.
That how some members of a fandom will act like, I have witness it 1st hand, it's not pretty and it gets me upset when i see fans act like this, and for certain Lovatics to act that is even more upsetting because that is form of Cyberbullying and that is something Demi has spoken out about.
She was still gainfully employed for many months after the o.d. she worked with. Fall out boy, Halsey, recently Madison Beer. But its terrible she lost her teaching jobs.
Well I think anyone with any sort of struggle - depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, eating disorder, addiction - can relate to that. We often show a smile to the world when we’re not feeling happy inside.
"I wanted to be super hot and famous so I had to keep throwing up duh" "I really like cocaine and heroin.. i'm such a victim" I FEEL THAT... I really love cocaine as well and I guess i'm a victim too! My mom died... my cat died... my dog died... See... look at that emotional turmoil!
I just released a 1:11:11 long freestyle on my channel, It's insanely hard to get noticed on this platform so please come show some love, you may just witness history in the making.
yes! I may not like Dani, but blaming her for such a serious stuff??? Wishing death? I see why Demi hates us and doesn't talk to us. Lovatics deserve it 100%.
I agree. I think she tried the common force of sobriety which resulted terribly. Addiction involves a lot of downs, but working through them is a better turnout in the end. Truthfully, I feel the pop music industry tried to control her, whereas rock has always been a way to scream out what’s really going on- not to mention the audience is filled with souls that have been the kindest of everyone I’ve met.
@@ray-kf3mf they were mifchelle on full house since they were like 1, movie companies and merchandise- millionaires by 7! But then people starting bullying them, one was anorexic, they stopped acting, and to this day run their fashion line( which is REALLY SUCCESSFUL)
omg yes. most of the disney and nickelodeon child stars were relatively older when they started, so I can't imagine how it's different starting out when you're an infant and don't even have a choice in the matter. I don't know how much they've said about their childhood but I do kinda wish they would do something like this.
It is heartbreaking hey. Whoever this monster is that raped her, and she gave little hints, I hope and pray that justice is served for Demi and other girls they would of obviously done the same thing to. But who is it?
People gotta stop worshiping these celebrities as if they are invincible or immortal. They are still humans and can fall from grace just like everyone else. She’s not the first and won’t be last. Wishing her infinite strength.
alot of her fans worship her. you don't have to think she's immortal or invincible- there are those worshipers who think she is frail and in need of constant salvation by them- which is why they viciously attack anyone they think offended her
@Infamous Grizzly exactly... she probably does want to do better, but she's not being serious about it at all... Making a documentary every time you relapse isn't gonna help anyone- it's just showing people how out of control your life is.
I feel so bad for the trauma Demi’s friends had to go through on account of Demi’s fans. That’s so awful. It is NEVER okay to send death threats or harass someone.
She’s not obligated to name anyone if she’s not comfortable with it and people should really stop speculating because it’s not fair to make assumptions... this is exactly how Dani’s career was ruined, through fans assuming she had done something wrong
Demi really made a great point. “They want what’s best for me but don’t always have all the information.” As a result, her friends lives have been ruined because of misconstrued information. absolutely
Don’t forget Dani, although she knows Demi on a professional level, they have friendship. She took the fall for all of it and was quiet because she was busy worrying about Demi being alive at the end of all of this
I had struggled with heroin addiction since I was 16 until I was 35. Today I’ve been clean for 4yrs. I can so relate with Demi’s story and she is a great inspiration for those who struggle with addiction.
I can’t take Scooter seriously after what he did to Taylor Swift and allegedly to other artists. I think he just looks at her as a money bag :( wish her the best
it’s crazy how sometimes we as fans think the artist is doing so great until we see an inside of their lives. also the fact we don’t know it but we put pressure on artists and they think they have to be perfect for us. we love you Demi through the ups and downs, that’s being human and we rather see the human you than an impossible thing like the “perfect role model” 💞
That's why I never understand when people leave crazy, nasty, hateful comments. You literally never know. No one will ever be perfect and we shouldn't make people feel like they need to be
@@a_2502 I agree. I know people can have their own opinions and I understand. But what I don’t understand is hating them so disgustingly without knowing the things they are going through or the effect it will have on them.
It makes me sad that fans loving her so much pushed her to make these “healthy” decisions that she ended up hating and making her miserable. I hope she knows that despite how much everyone loves her, it’s her honesty during her mistakes that make us fans. Not her failures or status as a “role model”.
These people need to be named. I’m proud she finally is speaking out but for fucks sake we need to hold these monsters accountable and shine a light on them, whether people will believe it or not we need to keep our eyes out and on the ones who are being accused
Not your place to pressure anybody to say anything. This is such a personal documentary. Respect what she doesn't want to publicly address, it isn't much...
I completely relate to sleeping with the person who assaulted you to get power back and it did exactly as she said. All it did was make it worse. Losing your virginity to violence has forever haunted me. Still something I’m working through 10 years later.
@@michelleberrios7852 I did not know about grandma. So sad. On one side she is incredibly talented and hard-working and on the other there is this genetic predisposition for addictions and eating disorders. So she is lucky but also unlucky.
I wouldn’t say genetic, but we are relational creatures and relationships influence us. Father/mother, brother/sister, romantic, etc. It effects how we react to certain people or situations, how we perceive the world. I love Brene Brown and all the stuff she has on shame and vulnerability , about telling our story.
To each their own both my parents are alcoholics and yet I wouldn’t drink even if it meant saving my life it’s really about the person and their will to do or do not
@@7techno77 scientifically speaking, if your relatives have the addiction, you are genetically more predisposed to develop addictions. Usually the result of inherited trauma, and mental illness.
When your friend telling you to "stay", you should stay. Because there might be something will happen that she/he doesn't want to happen. Because', we never know.
So much love for Demi using her voice and platform to share her experience with abuse and addiction and hope. She is a role model if there ever was one - relapse and all. The recovery journey is lifelong and there are going to be relapses, but as long as your heart is beating, there is always hope. Big love!
Hollywood is evil and my daughter almost got caught up in the music industry, but when she found out what these artists have to go through she turned it down and I am so happy she did. She does her music on her own terms, no handlers or managers involved.
@@LaughMusic331 yes so the music industry is a cult of free masonry, if you dont know what a freemason is I suggest you look it up. When you sign a contract with a record label you lose most of your rights. They will let you do a few songs of your own, but you have to push what they want you to push. The best way I can describe is you are joining a cult. Most celebrities that died were sacifrices. They know when they will be excueted, part of the blood contract you signed. I will leave a link here from a you tuber who breaks it down.
It's weird how we grew up so jealous and thinking their lives were perfect only to learn in adulthood that many were harmed and deeply unhappy during the height of their child stardom.
I think the media and Hollywood make those standards and stereotypes of "perfection" but I'm glad now she is not dealing with that and she is who she wants to be.
Maybe not now, but when she was 15 and 16 as a Disney star she definitely was. There’s this stigma that Disney stars have to be these perfect role models, and that pressure on such a young kid can really scar people. But she truly is so strong and I’m so proud of her
Her voice is so beautiful i remember watching the Grammy performance and I cried like a baby she is just so beautiful inside and out she is just so unbelievably amazing and a beautiful soul
Wow, Demi is a real survivor! This is a real problem we deal with in our community everyday. We just lost Bobby Brown JR to an overdose. I feel that more ppl need to speak on advocating better solutions for addiction and stuff. It's so taboo in society for ppl to admit they need help and stuff. Blessings to Demi for being a real one!
Britney, Paris, Cash me outside girl, Demi... Everyone jump on the bandwagon. 20 years from now it will be Bella Thorne, the Jenners, etc. stupid celebrity culture...Survivor? Lmao
DO NOT SPECULATE WHO RAPED HER. There is a reason she did not say his name. There is a reason she started this episode with what happened to Dani Vitale. If she would have wanted us to know, she would have told us. Don't speculate. Don't harass. Don't ruin someone's life. Just stop and respect peoples boundaries.
Exactly, I saw that happening in the Live Chat Feed During the premiere i had to minimize it. I don't like Fandom Behavior like that and Lovatics are better than that.
YES. It feels hypocritical that he’s all for taking care of Demi while simultaneously set on taking down Taylor. I’ve skipped every part of him speaking in this interview.
@Katy Mak I don’t think he gave royalties or ownership to T Swift for the music she wrote...? I can’t remember exactly. There’s lots of articles on it though on the internet!!!
@Katy Mak He withheld the copyrights to all her albums before Lover, she has no control over her music, though she offered to buy it back from him. He still makes money off it and she doesn't get a dime. She's now re-recording her entire albums. Fearless drops in April.
I still remember hearing about Demi being in hospital. Moments like that really make you reflect on your own life choices and serious repercussions your actions can have. Excellent documentary, redefining what being a role model means.
Me too I was visiting family abroad and it was all over the news even though we hardly get news about U. S. celebrities. That's when I knew that it was serious
I see people everyday in the hospital who OD and go to the ICU, lives are just as important as hers, then go back the streets alone to sleep in a tent.
it's weird to see how much love Demi gets for her overdose and relapses but when Britney Spears had mental breakdown and lost her kids just 10 years before EVERYONE laughed at her calling her all the kind of names and treating her like a clown with stupid jokes and 13 years later Britney is not allowed to do anything without people's permission while Demi has all the control/freedom she wants. People should watch FRAMING BRITNEY SPEARS as well. #FreeBritney - reason for commenting on this is because Britney's basic rights are till this day taken away from her and it's like no one gives a f. just because she shaved her head.
also why r u trying to make a division when the same people who support britney are the same ones who support demi like... i promise u those people that demonized britney arent the ones being supportive to demi now
you answered it yourself, it was more than TEN YEARS AGO. People are still pretty nasty to MH and addictions, they were downright horrible back in 2008. Seriously, what's the deal with trying to put someone down to lift another person up? You're doing the exact opppsite of helping Britney.
I think it is because it was a different era before there was not this big talk on mental health also during Britney it was a different generation. I was very young when everything was going on with Britney so it could also be that too people were young and also not aware of this going on. But in watching Framing Britney Spears she was treated horribly the list goes on. This is talked about on a Spotify podcast called Harlights; open.spotify.com/show/0W1R7yuBWNtdDqaiQ6L3zW (listen where podcast are available.)
Dude that was 14 years ago. It was a different era but even still many people were cruel to Demi during her overdose. Also what happened to Britney had mostly to do with mental illness & abuse, which people are still misinformed and unsympathetic towards. Drugs are often easier to explain and understand.
I feel terrible for her friends too. Some fans never know when and how to stop and they don’t realise how they can ruin her friends’ life. Most of us clearly don’t know what happens behind closed doors. Hearing that her friend lost all her jobs and clients is heartbreaking too

The industry is so fucked up. Kids unfortunately ARE the ones falling victim to all the darkness. There needs to be more consequences. And Victim Shaming has to STOP.
I don’t think most of them even consciously remember the abuse they’ve suffered. Trauma based mind control causes compartmentalization of the psyche, like creating rooms in the house of our mind. It’s so frustrating that most people have been led to believe the “breakdowns” these young women have is simply a side effect of fame. Demi has so many characteristics of a Monarch slave who’d been programmed as a child...but we can’t know for certain, of course. If you are a "fan" of a celebrity to the point where you feel its your place and duty to attack anyone around them with literal death threats and hate, take a step back and figure out what's going on with you. If your life is missing something to the point of attacking strangers to "stick up" for another stranger, you should probably examine that.

It's often overlooked and I'm so proud that she did that for them
I mean that girl lost everything and suffered so much abuse for years, and Demi's team could have released a statement much sooner---she even says it herself. So I'd say it's the least she can do for her.
Thank you for not only speaking about being sexually abused but that you contacted them again to "take back" your power by having sex with them. That is so hard for so many people to understand. There's a very clear expectation on how victims of sexually abuse should react, behave and feel and it is not the reality. The reality is so complex and it takes work to being able to understand that. And people don't want to work, they want the easy answer. So thank you for sharing!!
