Keep the horse mats for your workshop, it is great having a softer working area. Your back and feet will thank you along with anything you drop. Maybe not in any area you're going to process animals.
Once you have established where the shop will be, you might want to clean up and install those horse mats for the humans that will be working out there. Anti-fatigue mats are pretty standard for work areas with cement floors.
I was thinking the same thing. But, honestly, being a past horse breeder (Thoroughbreds) it pains me to see this beautiful stalled barn torn apart instead of restored lol. But I know and realize it's not what's in your plans and I commend you guys for making your dream happen. It at one time was a very expensive barn speaking from experience. And OMG those rubber mats...well they were around $85 a piece 20 years ago so I'd hate to think what they cost today. You may want to save them as I'm sure you'll find a use for them in the future at some point.
That old manur fork was a great find but also the hay basket that was attached to the inside of the wall that you took down. It would be Super cute attached to your front door, or next to it, with a pretty floral arrangement hanging out of it.
Congratulations on your write up in the Epoch Times!!! So exciting to see you there! :) You are also being featured on Zero Hedge. Way to promote the homesteading lifestyle!!! So proud of you guys!
When ever my dad had any building projects, it was always my job to pull nails out of boards, lol. The joy of being the youngest and only girl! No one ever told my dad that girls were princesses and shouldn't have to work hard. And thank you for that, dad! Heather🇨🇦
Jason, I have seen someone on youtube using a nail removing gun. I think it was pneumatic, and it drove the nail back through the board. It didn't necessarily push them all the way out, but the hardest part was done. That old manure fork is a hidden treasure. They are the best tool for wood chips.
While I am not a structural engineer or an architect, I believe between the rotted posts and the connecting lumber and bracing walls you have removed, you are verging into losing a bunch of your barn and it's roof to the the next substantial wind storm, particularly with both ends now open to allow wind inside without any sort of door currently. Looking at the horse mats, hay feeders and the "window bars" lots of folks use for their stabled horses, I would imagine you might have many neighbors interested in buying that stuff you no longer want.
can't get any better than Estwing. been using them for years. Wow Jason you have been super busy. Your farm is looking great. You and Lorraine so deserve that beautiful piece of land.
Your pasture is looking so much healthier! It’s amazing what some good rotational grazing, bramble/tree clearing and of course rain can do for the health of your soil! Keep up the good work - another few years and it will be unrecognisable!
The new property has such potential! With the creativity and energy that your family shares in making your homestead flourish, it is an encouragement to others. This is one of my favorite channels!
Hi Jason and Lorraine, I love watching you build your new family homestead. Your day in the life vlogs are awesome. Jason, you are a beast with that sledge hammer. It's amazing how you took that wall down. Also that you are able to salvage so much reusable lumber. Lorraine's homemade pot pie looked delicious. Take care and God Bless. ♥️♥️♥️
Definitely a well built structure👍 Love how you are slowly customizing the space to be your own. All this building & clearing the land will be handy for years to come. Awesome job. I think Zeke loves you with the loyalty of a dog... he always follows you around.. whereas the other pig doesn't, although you provide for them both. Sweet💕
You need to learn the turkey whistle to use they will follow then. We free range ours and they go to bed on there own. One of the most hands off animals on our place. watch out on taking to much down, if you grow your hearts you will need them, and this horse mats are golden.
RePurposeing is my favorite thing to do. My chicken coop is made from an old fallen down sawmill. I am always so sad to see falling down buildings left to rot. Great find on the pitch fork. Thanks for sharing
Best part the floors are all cemented already, just need a little fill here and there on the cracks , Yes keep a stall for sick or hurt animals , Never know when you need one
I love your sense of humor! And the music choice after buying the maul 🤣 That barn is already looking much more useful for you, great job. Dinner looked delicious.
My guy told me a story of his life growing up on a homestead in the 60s/70s and 80s. So in the 60s when they were tearing down an old barn to build their dad “let” them pull all the mails to save. They then were allowed to keep them and straighten them for their own projects. Good lessons on frugality there! He’s a wonder and fix everything and knows a lot. Wish he’d do a RU-vid channel!
Hey Jason I use to live Hemet California I have followed you from day one. I have moved to Texas to start my Homestead I have 13.7 acres. Here is my drive slogan to get this done. I want my own Bernice. I’m going to start my own channel. We are in the beginning stages of building our house.
Looking forward to seeing more of the barn transformation. Already the space you've opened up makes it seem much more spacious. Cant wait to see all that you will be able to do with that building in the future. You could maybe added sliding partitions at a later date to give you flexibility in how you use the larger spaces.
I'll bet your shoulders were sore the next day after swinging that hammer. It will surely give you a great space for tools and building things. Congratulations on getting it all knocked down. Dinner looked delicious. Chicken pot pie is one of my favorites. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Love seeing what you are doing with your barn, we are also working on renovating our animal barn. Would love a people barn. Totally feel you on the nails - all our old fencing and our barn has these HUGE nails. I'm talking thick, 3+ inch spiral nails that are going to be a huge time suck for any work where I'm trying to preserve the wood like you.
I love your channel, and thoroughly enjoy your well-made videos. But oh man it hurt watching those well-made stalls come down. I really really hope you don’t regret that decision. It’s your place though and I respect that.
Love your place. I was thinking, how many spiders were lost their homes with that reno. 🤔 That sledge hammer sure made a good mess. Blessings from Australia ❤️
looks like you have a lot of work for getting the energy out of your system. glad to see that the turkeys are not a huge problem to get back into the netting, and that Penolope helps so much in rounding them up. the chicken pie, supper really looked good. the brothers Beef are really looking good. have a great week and thanks for the video.
And now a different Victor 😁. Eastwick makes great products, love their camp axe. The more the turkeys get out, the more they will continue to get out. Trim those feathers, hopefully it's not to late. Good luck. 👍🦃

Looked like an Estwing to me. They make great tools, especially rock/geology hammers.
