Look at all the seed heads on that grass! Looks like there was one big benefit to the dry months you guys recently had, that drought stress forced everything to put out seed heads, and now the wet weather has returned, that is really going to help a huge amount in speeding up recovering and revitalizing that pasture.

If you do not have a traditional lilac with the regular, purple flowers - Do plan on getting one for planting in the garden area. It will likely take a couple of years to actually bloom although there are ways to provide the conditions to get them to bloom as quickly as possible. If you have a big enough pot and your winters aren't too bad, you can get them to go in a pot. Lilacs and thier blooms are used by many to determine when to plant peas and a number of other things. Thier bloom time is contingent on micro-climate factors.

You are doing such a great job with your animals and the land. I am so amazed that the cows haven't wandered out of the fence but I think it is because of the way you raise them. You pet them and love them and move them often and make sure they have everything they need....They trust you and are happy. Good job and a good lesson for all of us. Joan

Nothing better than animals grazing and grass growing. The reels to use with that poly aren't expensive and would save you loads of time with your frequent moves! You can buy expensive ones but I bought the cheap versions and they are getting the job done. Good stuff

Just happy that the situation on the homestead seem a bit more manageable for you at Sow the Land. Because to honest for a while there it was appearing as though things had gotten a bit overwhelming and I was hopeful that wasn't the case and even if it was don't forget that at Sow the Land you all have an amazing cheering section here on RU-vid people that are really interested in what you are doing and how you are doing it.

You are good people the way you care for each other, the animals and the land. You really lucked out with those sweet steers. The first 3 heifers and a steer we got from a farmer were so wild we couldn't do anything with them. The steer would run when he saw us. We called him Nebuchadnezzar and when we butchered him he was so tough. After that we raised our own and had them trained to a white pail, they would follow us anywhere. Good work improving that land.
