On April 7, 1999, Conrail's former PRR NS Tower at Lima, Ohio was torn down. First we begin at Dunkirk, Ohio with Conrail RR262 crossing the former NYC Toledo Branch. We then go to Lima and watch the demolition crew take the tower down as trains pass by.

I like the little pose that worker did once they finished tearing up the top portion of the tower, that made me chuckle.

What a primitive way to take down a building. Why dismantle by hand if you’re not salvaging anything?

Due to the proximity to both mainlines to not disrupt traffic and the fact that the interlocking machine had been purchased by a collector, it was decided to take it apart by hand. The same crew tore down Rochester Tower in Pennsylvania and several other structures during the same period.
