Ryan Clark, the lead singer, and Patrick the lead guitar are the main songwriters. And yes, they are a Christian Metal band, there are a lot of extremely good Christian metal bands. It also tends to be more real than most Christian music. If you really want harsh vocals from DH, go listen to Storm the Gates of Hell. That sounds like it'd be more your speed.

There are so many Christian metal bands with excellent harsh vocals. Silent Planet, Becoming the Archetype, Fit For A King, Extol, August Burns Red, War of Ages, etc... I also agree about the perception of Christian metal. There's a lot of really good music from Christians, and it can be just as brutal as secular music.

If you liked the harsh vocals, check out their older stuff (World is a Thorn, Summer of Darkness, Extremist). My fav song off the War album is either On My Side or Lesser gods (killer track). They have definitely toned down their style since the early 2000's, but are still a great band to listen to. Great review guys

Their first album wasn't bad, and I personally didn't like triptych (felt like a sellout record at the time it came out and I never got over that haha). I actually forgot about storm the gates hell which was a big mistake on my part. That was a killer album

I think they've always had a more melodic tone to their works, it's just a lot more clear to see with some of their more recent albums -- It's especially obvious considering that they published War and Peace as two separate albums to distinguish between the heavier vs. the down-tempo stuff. It was also a lot more noticeable in their previous album Outlive, which they even said they had intended to add more ballads to than they did in the final release. Of course, I can't argue with any of it because it's all just as good.

It's so much harder for them in that community because they are Christian in a genre that often gets Typecast as being strictly satanic. A lot of metal isn't satanic, but they do promote and made jokes about the devil all the time. Ghost has admitted to being satanic. I don't know why I didn't listen to Demon Hunter sooner. There just seems to be more strength that comes from this music as being the underdog. You can hear the visceral sound in his heavy vocals. As a Christian I love it myself because everyone thinks of Christianity as extremism in metal music. It's nice to show people that there is a lot of power that comes from Christ despite the comment section on a lot of videos taking easy shots. Fear is not my guide is one of the best of the new album.

Been a fan of Demon Hunter since they formed. A MUCH heavier Christian metal band Antonio might wanna give a listen to - Crimson Moonlight. Specifically their latest album Divine Darkness.

@A&PREACTS they have in fact gone on tour with non Christian metal bands , they have also been at non Christian metal fests. Actually before don Ryan brother left the band they both wrote the music/songs, they formed Demon Hunter together after coming from a band called training for utopia during the 90's.

Demon Hunter! Been fan for 15 years. A small nice detail I noticed about their new albums is that the album "Peace" has no growling in songs. It's metal, yea, but ... peaceful?

There's some great christian metal/core out there but mostly out of the late 90s and early 2000's. Check out Zao and Living Sacrifice! They go just as hard if not harder than most secular metal. Zao - Lies of Serpents a River of Tears, or Living Sacrifice - Burn the End are specific songs I'd suggest to sample.

Really enjoying you guys reacts. Y’all continue to introduced me to a ton of great new music I would have never found. Wanted to make a request on a little older song. Its Architects piano version of Doomsday. It’s a real different aspect of the song with Sams’s vocal heard at a completely different tone. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Demon Hunter doesn't tour often, and when they do it's usually in Europe. They have done tours with mainstream rock bands like A7X and Asking Alexandria. Ryan Clark, the vocalist, grew up listening to Pantera as well and said that's one of their big influences.

What many others have probably already said, go listen to their older stuff. These guys have been punching out awesome music for years. They have harsh and clean vocals on all their albums. Go listen to Whitewashed, Marianas Trench, Meridian and some other stuff from another AWESOME Christian band August Burns Red.

Actually huge fan and yes they do go out and play in places where christian bands typically would not. They are pretty cool. Saw them first in club in Dallas years ago and was fan ever since. Loads of great videos and songs.

Check our Fit for a King. My recommendation would be Backbreaker, Tower of Pain, or The Price of Agony. Another great, really heavy band that's also (sorta) Christian. Their newest album is pretty good, probably their best imo

Hey guys. First of all I want to say I am overwhelmed that you played a Christian band very surprised pleasantly surprised. There are a lot of misconceptions about Christian metal bands. Lot of people also believe that their songs would be cheesy. But as you could see there was no cheese on this song. I agree with you 100% on your thoughts about the song and how it would have been better if it would are arranged it in a different way. But with that being said the song was awesome in the message is awesome. The message of Jesus Christ is the most important of all things. And I believe this John Road music reaches those who listen to metal music. I enjoy your show and I hope in the near future that you will play more songs by Demon Hunter. They do a song called Jesus wept that is done in the third person it is pretty crunchy also. And also they got a song called I fail you. They have a video that is with lyrics and then they have the official video. I double dog dare you to play either one of these songs triple dog dare you. LOL Anyway guys I love your show you know that already. And I am one of your biggest fans. So that being said Keep On Keepin On

I didn't like this song the 1st couple times I listened to the War/Peace albums all the way through, but it's grown on me a little. My favorite song on War is Lesser God's, it's not the heaviest song but it's structured very well.

Why wouldn’t real Christians tour right along side bands that are there total opposite. I mean do you only go to the doctor when your well no you go when your sick. It makes perfect sense the goal is to reach the lost, while rocking their faces off!

For the same reason why Bon Jovi doesn't tour with Slayer. They have different target audiences, and when putting tour packages together you want to offer fans a package that resonates with them. Demon Hunter opening for Belphegor wouldn't. Do you go to the dentist when your eyes hurt? You don't. This is a business not a fairy tale.

No, Demon Hunter is not a "Christian" metal band. There's no such thing as a Christian band or Christian music. It's just music. People need to stop putting that stupid label on bands and artists. Some of the members may be Christian but that doesn't make them a "Christian" band.
