I'm currently going through Cognitive Processing Therapy (not to be confused with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for trauma. The cool thing about it is that, even though it's a secular therapy, I can integrate scripture into it. Have started memorizing scripture because I need to get God's word into my mind to replace the false beliefs. Please pray for me. I definitely feel very burdened but I do praise God for the work he's doing in my life and that he can use my suffering for my good and for his glory.

How’s it going a year after your post? I’m interested in your approach to that form of treatment for PTSD. Is CPT the same as DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy)? It sound similar. I’d consider revisiting that therapy if I can work scripture memorization into it. God bless!

Thoroughly enjoying this. I am from the school of thought that a real follower of Christ cannot be demonically possessed YET demonic OPPRESSION is possible. Whether it's true or not, it has helped me with fear of certain darkness. Also, it always bothered me when Hollywood movies have a "devout Christian" person demonically possessed. Rarely ever, is it an unbelieving person.

I have been following along and got confused when one guy (so sorry that I don’t know all of your names) quotes Romans 6:20 as saying “the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” and it was a different scripture, so I googled it and, it’s so close but it’s Romans 16:20, if anyone else is trying to find it. I really enjoy watching y’all. Thanks so much! ... added thought here... After just listening to the end of this and the personal testimony, this was so informative and so helpful. I have friends that have thought that so much of the struggle and constant chaos and conflict in their personal lives was demonic and the clarification on the stronghold piece is great. I have been a student of scripture for 20+ years and this topic is so important but hard to discern and rarely addressed. Perhaps you all could discuss breaking free of strongholds, in addition to casting out, at another time. Thanks so much!

Please let me insert a thought here about word usage. When a Bible-believer speaks in a spiritual/theological sense about a 'demon' they're talking about a personal, fallen/sinful spirit being of the kind that Jesus cast out as reported in the gospels. When someone speaks about a person 'dealing with inner demons' they're talking about the person's psychological problems or unresolved/troubling emotional issues. I point this out because sometimes the spirit being can cause psychological issues and in that situation (or in some other contexts as well) the two different usages/meanings can become blurred or confused. A tendency I've noticed in some Christian circles is to 'assign' every type of sin its own demon; for example, someone will say 'I rebuke the demon of [fill in the name of the sin here--e.g., adultery, fornication, homosexuality, coveteousness, fear, etc.].' I don't know that every category of sin has its own (theological definition) individual demon ASSIGNED to it in that way, or that every adulterer is demonized vs. merely tempted and sinful. Certainly, the devil and demons can tempt people into many different kinds of sins but I don't know that an INDIVIDUAL demon is always the culprit for every instance of a particular category of sin. I also don't think demons are correctly or helpfully de-personalized into mere names of types of sins that humans commit, which amounts to the kind of confusion of the two definitions I described above. Regarding the question: Can Christians be oppressed or dominated by demons? I have two thoughts: (1) Scripture exhorts us to 'resist the devil and he will flee from you.' My point here is that there's obviously something real to be resisted if that exhortation is meant literally. (2) Unsaved PEOPLE can oppress/dominate us Christians if we let them. Even unbelievers have slang terminolgy for people who socially 'drain' or oppress others: 'toxic' people or (the more colorful) 'psychic vampires.'

Great Q- can demons know our thoughts? I've wondered this too. I don't know the Bible as well as I would like. In this Q, I go back to Genesis in how the serpent cast doubts into our minds and this was before sin actually occurred (by biting into the fruit) which solidified the fall. So, they may be able to cause doubts or questions which lead us astray. After the fall, our natural enmity tends toward unrightheous thoughts. I believe this is why we are to study God's Word and cling to Jesus which increases our knowledge/discernment and strengthens our faith to combat these attacks. But, I don't think the devil & his minions can know or read our minds. At least, from my limited understanding I have not read or heard of it in the Bible. 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV - We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Very deep topic, thank you for covering it! We the church need to understand the signs that will follow the believers “Mark 16:17-18 King James Version 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Enjoying the program! About demons not understanding praying in tongues, I think of a verse in 1 Corinthians 14:2 , "For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit." Could that apply? And on another subject, I've read a lot about people needing help with rejection and inferiority and fear of abandonment, in my counseling study, and I wonder if reading an etiquette book would give them a little secular confidence, too. They would have a better idea of what is considered smooth and refined and polite behavior in their culture. Then, if they lost a friend, they could be pretty sure it wasn't because their boorish behavior hurt or embarrassed the friend.

I would say that demons can possess a person who is not saved. Possession is when the original personality is submerged, and the mind, will, and emotions become blended with various entities that use the host at will. A Christian is not perfect, altho saved by grace. The personality cannot be submerged as their identity is in Christ, and God has a plan for their life. So Christians can be externally oppressed, and respond to wrong thoughts, difficult circumstances, confusion, etc... The Adversary works on and through people, just as God does. So for example, when Peter said to Jesus, This shall never happen to You! Jesus responded, Get behind me Satan! Peter was responding out of his own will, and Satan shifted Peter's focus. But when Peter said Jesus was the son of the Living God, Jesus said this was revealed to Peter by the Holy Spirit. It's where your heart and focus is

I had a pretty frightening demonoc experience as a young guy, suffered twisted abusive parent and many other things and I have so many dark nights where the voice of accusation is just abnormal. But there is no one to help. I cry Out to Jesus but nothing, I wonder if I am irredeemable .Is there a ministry that helps people in this way?

When we are talking about being demonized or possesses we are talking about legal access to a person that is arbitrated for. Legal access has to do with agreements made in the mind, and body. The persons body is what is battled over. The argument is a religious one that compromises to a certain level of stronghold in exchange for your “life” in a certain area. (Keeping gluttony but surrendering the rest to Christ. Like the rich young ruler.). That “life” could be anywhere from a flesh desire or unmet expectation, un-forgiveness, or sexual tie OR actual survival of yourself or a loved one OR something that you will do anything to avoid (i.e. fear, rejection, humiliation…). We will elevate one or the other and bring a kingdom to our current atmosphere (disciple) based on those agreements. Taking captive every thought and making it obedient to Christ is huge. Repent, submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee - be filled with the Holy Spirit.

We just got to be careful we don't start blaming demons for all our personal sin; of course they can enhance and exasperate our sin, but if we choose to succumb, that's on us.......just keep submitting to God, resisting the devil and we shouldn't have to worry about them like that. Moreover, the epistles don't give any specific instructions for demon deliverance (apart from general spiritual warfare passages (which basically call for us to take refuge in the Lord from all these evils, and rely at all times on His protection and intervention)

Yes it is possible a christian can be demonized. In his soulish area of the flesh... Open door to sin. Deliverance is not always automatic when one is born again. The persons spirit is regenerated that is born again. But his mind still needs to be renewed in the Spirit. Demons can still be in the soulish area and flesh. That need to be cast out. Through prayer and fasting. Also living a life of obedience... Demons can come into the bloodline of children through their parents sin..

@littleboots9800

I always thought that was because although the house was "swept clean" and put right, it was not filled. Our "house" needing to be filled by the Holy Spirit dwelling inside us rather than us just putting our house in order as it were. This interpretation was where I derived the view that true Christians cannot be oppressed, the Holy Spirit can't share space with demons. I realise others don't always agree with this though, I'd appreciate an in depth teaching on it too.

That probably depends on how you are defining "demonization." If you do just a broad, generalization, even Jesus could have been said to have been "demonized," since satan manipulated Jesus' body in Matthew 4. If you define it as simply being "under the power of" a demon, you can say Jesus was "demonized." But if you define it Biblically as a demon entering and controlling, then Peter in Matthew 16 cannot be said to have been "demonized." John 13:2 and 13:27 make it clear that satan can influence you without entering you, as we see Judas first being influenced in verse 2, and only later did satan actually enter into Judas.

I wonder about the same re same evil spirit in different people. All i can think is the spirit realm is not same a ours in terms of space- time. Quantum physics stuff (string theory) where dimensions intersect at multiple points. Or that the evil spirit isn't fully present in the person, but has a hold in them (& could be holding into someone else too)... But that's all compete conjecture on my part. There is no Scripture guide (Jesus just said to cast out demons. The authors of the gospels didn't then elaborate - maybe since they already knew how after following Jesus...)

Thank you for sharing the knowledge the Holy Spirit has given you! hopefully you guys can answer this question ! I have heard quite a few believers refer to the “jezebel spirit” I.e “she has a jezebel spirit” or “I had the jezebel spirit but I’ve since been delivered from that” Is there any Biblical truth to this? I understand jezebel is in the Bible but is there a truth to what I’ve been told? Thank you!

I have to disagree with all the "demonization or demonize" definition. It actually confuses me and seems like this is your own interpretation rather than the Spirit's. On the other side of that coin, however, I am glad you guys are having a discussion about this topic because it is so taboo. Sharing experiences helps also. Demons DEMOralize what God has put in place as well. I didn't hear anyone talk about Luke 11:14-28 (also in Matthew 12:22-10) which is about the Strongest Man. I think I heard something about 1 John 1:5, but I'll just put that verse here in case I'm wrong on that. A Christian, one who has Light in them, cannot become possessed by an evil spirit. Paul talked about a thorn in his side that God has allowed him to have due to his disposition. Christians can be oppressed, but never possessed. Again, Paul was oppressed because of the work he was doing as instructed by Jesus Christ. (The Book of Acts) Lastly, I think it's best to always allow God to be your guide and lead by the Holy Spirit because He is infallible - we are not. I strongly suggest getting wisdom from Him rather than ourselves - even in our own experiences. I say this because we are extremely influential beings as God made us to worship Him.

We need more conversations like this. Spirits and the supernatural are real more than youd imagine whether you accept it or not. But jesus is king of kings and lord of lords so fear not and rest with an acceptance of him and if any chase after that and his holy spirit first, the rest will come to you and he’ll even show you more about the spiritual and demons if you trust and love him(.)✝️💜

Jesus was able to cast out demons 99.9% of the time??.. umm, my Bible says Jesus was fully God and fully man. The creator of ALL things the ALFA & OMEGA, THE GREAT I AM , YAHWEH HIMSELF, can do better than cast out 99.9% of demons. Nothing is done, or happens outside of what HE has already predetermined my friend. That's a huge part of our foundation.. is to know the doctrine of The Trinty. Knowing that Father, Son and Spirit are co-equal, co-eternal 1 being 3 persons... God. So what Jesus do you believe in? Because its not good enough to know a "JESUS" . But the correct one. And I mean no disrespect by saying that. I just enjoy and get pretty passionate about this kinda stuff. Great video ! Great discussion 👍 Be Blessed 🙌 🙏

Matthew 16:22-23 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Far be it from You, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!” 23But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” Jesus seems to imply that Peter's words here, which I believe flow from thought, was inspired by Satan.

A christian can apostatize. Judas was one of the 12 disciples. When Judas took of the bread with Jesus, The bible clearly says that the devil entered into him... Because of disobedience. Satan had put it in the heart of Judas to betray Jesus.

I'm a patreon supporter and appreciate RR - I have benefited much from their videos. But I had to muster MUCH patience to listen to this. Meandering, messy and frivolous. Superficial, speculative and frustrating. For people who say they cast out demons every month, the ratio of words to actual meaningful information was sorely lacking. Apologies if this sounds harsh or critical - but it seems to me the constant fraternity bro backslapping and wisecracking is getting in the way of delivering meaningful content. Style > substance. But thanks for sharing your story Miller, you probably should have opened with that.

I actually looked through the comments just to see if anyone felt the same way I did about this episode. I really respect these guys and have gleaned a lot of wisdom from them but this episode was very distracting due to the goofing around on a subject that really is no laughing matter. And trust me, I like goofing around, but this wasn't the episode to do that. His story at the end was great but due to the lack of content explored throughout the episode it didn't actually connect many dots for me. For instance they never talk at all about the need for counseling out an evil spirit through a licensed christian therapist, yet that was his main contributing solution to rid himself of this stronghold. Nothing of that sort was talked about during the episode which just left me with questions and not answers. Like... what did people do 500 years ago when there weren't licensed therapist? Were they just screwed feeling rejected the rest of their life because psychology wasn't really a thing yet? Anyways, it's not like they didn't know he was going to share his story, so it didn't come as a surprise to any of them therefore they could have done a better job prepping for this one. Obviously they intended to continue this topic onto other episodes but yeah, I felt the same way you did and needed to vent because I was somewhat frustrated. Still love this channel though...

@@jasonw248 yeah. And so much of what they spoke about was derived from anecdotal experience, which is then viewed through a certain (charismatic) cultural lens. Very little bible expository exploration(even though there is actually very little explicit info there). And yes your question about 500 years ago is also on my mind. Especially when much of modern phycology is informed by occult modalities (thanks Jung!). It seems like Millers story simply said that the truth of God displaced the "spirit" . That just sounds like discipleship, not deliverance. When Josh puts in the disclaimer that they take the content seriously, but they don't take themselves seriously, it sets up a self defeating scenario of the content being delivered by people who don't take the content seriously enough to take themselves seriously for the duration of one hour, for the sake of the content. The giggling school boys routine is getting tired. Perhaps Josh and Michael should have let Miller do this talk on his own. We might have had less rabbit holes into amillenialism at least :)

@@gregwill500 Yeah, I clarified a bit in this week's episode and will clarify even further in the weeks ahead. I do think "Discipleships" or "Renewing the mind" is the main reason I was able to get free. Regarding the goofing around we can get a bit carried away but we also really like each other and value the time we get together this one hour per week. You all get to peek a bit behind the curtain of our friendship. Hope it isn't too much of a detractor. Thank you for watching all the same!

Michael Miller thanks for the reply. I’m sure you’ll unpack things further. Maybe I’ll check out the other episodes. Getting to peek behind the curtain of your friendships is not really a priority for me , especially on this episode. And it really did feel like the curtain was reversed, and had to peek behind the style to see the substance. I’ve enjoyed more thoughtful and thorough content from RR before. Keep up the good work, and thanks for being open to feedback, even if it sounds grouchy and grumpy 😬

I would say to write out your hurts and negative beliefs about yourself. Write out your frustrations and feelings about others. Then look at all of it and turn to the Bible. What does GOD say about what I believe? The discrepancies are lies, and the core common thread between them will be the root stronghold. Continue to speak the truth of God’s word over those lies. For instance, if you feel that your whole life you’ve been treated as worthless, repeat verses where God calls you valuable, made in His image, precious, made for a purpose, ect…

@@casualgamerkyle3807 yeah, there's not a direct reference in Scripture for it. That is sort of the tough part about personal testimony. The closest thing to it that I've found in Scripture is a "spirit of slavery leading to fear." That fear manifested as fear of rejection. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!

Carter Conlon, in his testimony recently, clarified the 'speaking in "tongues" issue' and said quite clearly how it is SUPPOSED to work and that rambling inane babble is not of GOD, its not some 'secret angel language'. When the angels in heaven are praising GOD they its not written that they speak in some inane gibberish, rambling nonsense. Whenever angels spoke to men, they never ONCE spoke in some verbal diarrhea that promoted CONFUSION. Power, love and a SOUND MIND are from GOD, the fruits of the HOLY SPIRIT are not the ability to 'out holy' one another by making grand spectacles in church services. I HIGHLY suggest you do some more research on this issue before BRAGGING about it anymore.
