I have nothing but admiration for Denard, who came here when the program was at it's lowest point in history. Thank you for being such a wonderful and exciting player and representing the University of Michigan. I'm sorry you and the team had to wear Dave Brandon's ugly ass uniforms and go out with a loss in your final game. (A difference of one tackle might have made the difference.)

One of the greatest Michigan players of all time. He stuck through the darkest years in Michigan's history. No matter what, he will always be considered a great Michigan football player, but I will always think of him as a better man. Go Blue!

A shining beacon during a dark age in Michigan football. Although not a traditional Michigan quarterback, what other Michigan quarterback in history could make a contribution to his team with a defunct throwing arm? His attitude and Michigan spirit will truly be missed. Thank you for choosing Michigan Denard.

His arm wasn’t great - but he had tremendous faith in his receivers. Just throw it up and let them make plays - and they often did. On short yardage plays, he was a sure thing. You couldn’t stop him on 3rd and 2 or less. Always fun to watch - never go pee when we had the ball.

Wasn't the greatest QB, but his will to win, work ethic, the person and teammate he was and that he helped put UM football back in the map, and of course his 4.3 speed/ play making ability will be what he is remembered for. Denard was a generational talent. I have always felt that he was used incorrectly. I think Forcier should have been the QB and Denard should have been the Swiss army knife. He could have played every skill position. I just don't think full time QB was the right call.

@cmoney7463 11 лет назад
You're high. Gardner never showed signs of being a quality QB until this season. He would show flashes occasionally but never consistent enough to be the starter. Denard is a spread QB and proved it in 2010. I think he understood spread concepts better over pro-style concepts and was able to make the spread offense plays easier because it was more in his wheel house. If RichRod would have stayed, Denard would've been great. The defense would have been awful though so take your pick.

I thought his sophomore season, his very first season starting, he had a pretty good arm. He could make just about any throw you'd need him too,it was just the decision making that killed him as a QB. He'd toss up too many jump balls, and once in a while throw an interception that left you pullling your hair out asking yourself, who was that too? Great player though, no doubt about it. We needed a playmaker on this team, and he brought exactly that. In the NFL just let this kid get the ball
@pseudonym3640
@pseudonym3640 11 лет назад
He won't be asked to play QB in the NFL. No coach is going to design a playbook around him. He is a running back, plain and simple. His time at UM prepared him for all the staple NFL running plays and he has the ability to play RB immediately. He just needs to improve his pass blocking, which was very poor against SC. I expect some team to draft him in the 3rd round to play RB. In this draft, he is one of the best RBs available.
@vidEvWill
@vidEvWill 11 лет назад
I don't believe he'll be much of an NFL player, again he's going to have the same issues Tebow had(not the cultural icon stuff) just that some coach is gonna need to incorporate the offense around him(not many coaches have enough balls to do that) McDaniels did with Tebow and it got him canned, when he could not get the other players to buy in, he'll get undrafted but I think he'll be a career backup, a guy that can come in and do some things then hold a clipboard or do some RB, and return.
@vidEvWill
@vidEvWill 11 лет назад
He was a good college player, again Rich Rodriguez's new style spread offense never ever was a great fit(Michigan and all the Big 10 teams were pretty set in its ways) and it compunded the problem when Rodriguez could not get athletes to come to Michigan and it did not help that Ryan Mallet left for Arkansas. To me, Robinson still got flattened by bigger, stronger guys but he at least peresevered. At least Brady Hoke is there and they will return to a more traditional brand of football.
