Another tip for the Denman brush. If it’s difficult to slide it out, when u slide it out, wash it with soap and water, it could be that it’s dirty and is sticking to the brush, then dry it. That should do the trick!😊💗

To remove rows you don’t slide the rubber part up, you pull forward from the top. To put the rubber piece back in you have to slide it in. A trick to slide it back into place easily is to do it under hot running water.

I can’t believe that when you posted this video I was just looking for a denman, how-to, video from someone I trust. Thank you for doing this video. I really like how you show and explain your technique. Especially about the back cowlicks exposing the scalp. That is such a challenge for me!!

Thanks so much for these tips. My hair is so like yours in both density and texture and I didn't realise that preparing your hair before drying would make such a difference. I would just apply product and immediately start to diffuse my hair, mostly drying upside down so now I know why my curls weren't sitting right or ended up looking a bit frizzy. Going to try this and hopefully see a difference. Your curls really are so beautiful! 😍

Excellent Gena Marie. Thanks for the video. It took me a while to realice that a brush is a great tool to style curly hair. For years I have been using my fingers ( using rake and finger coil ). I have been using a brush for more than a month. And tomorrow I will try something similar to Denman Brush which is from another brand (Evolve). Your vídeo was very educational because I have a hair type similar to yours, and I really like the way you sectioned your hair, the tricks in front and to avoid spaces in the back when sectioned vertically, and also sectioned horizontally. Love the comparison between both techniques. Great video. Thanks! 💛😊

I really like your technique for the top of your hair. I have used it since you showed it in another video. I use a paddle brush recommended by Manes by Mel. It doesn’t give me volume but it helps my hair curl from the root😁 I like no denman brush better.

I have seen so many videos on the curly girl method because since last Friday I stopped using heat and started curling my hair naturally. You were the only one who mentioned a cowlick and how to hide one because I have one and didn’t know what to do so I took a circle of hair around the cowlick and made a ringlet so that area dried together and it seemed to work. I have a thinning hair and I also have problems seeing my scalp and I need to use hairspray to keep it in place. Oh the joys of thinning hair.

They both look really good. My hair is not as curly as yours especially in the back. I have not had much luck with the Denman. Maybe I just need to work at it some more.

My guess for the first look is fingers! I use my denman brush mostly for distributing product more evenly. Just doing that helps with definition. I tried doing the sectioning thing, but I just don't have the patience for that! I've NEVER been successful at sectioning. I always end up brushing through hair I've already done, or hair that is supposed to be clipped back. I'm willing to sacrifice some definition for lower maintenance :)

I like the denman brush side best, I need to try it your way cause I am wavy and the denman makes my hair spiral but not in a good way, it’s not curly it’s like a straight ringlet if that makes sense but I twist at the end so I’m gonna try it your way. Is love to see damp styling next to soaking wet styling please 😊

Great video! I used the Denman brush when I first started the cgm a little over a year ago. My results were less than stellar. I think I need to give it another try. How long does it take to brush all your hair with the Denman brush? Also, how wet is your hair? Thank you! ❤️
@GenaMarie

Thanks! My hair was damp here. I do have to re-wet the top section by the time I get there. If I’m moving fast, it takes about 15 min to style. I have a quicker method that’s less precise too

When I use the denman brush, it stretches out my curls, and they don't bounce back very well. Some of my hairs stay straight, and I end up having a head of 3a/2a-b curls/waves. Am I doing something wrong?
@GenaMarie
@GenaMarie 4 года назад
It’s important to make sure you’re picking up a natural curl “clump” or curl family, and also twisting your wrist in the direction of the natural curl. If you happen to be going in the opposite direction it will straighten it out

So are you doing this out of the shower for the video or is it done outside all the time? Is it soaking wet still or damp?
@GenaMarie
@GenaMarie 4 года назад
I apply my styling products out of the shower. It’s just damp. I showed in the video how I started with towel dried hair, then sprayed a bit of water on my ends that were drying too quickly. Then I applied my styling products and then used the brush.

Thank you for this video! I liked your hair both ways, I may have preferred the version without the brush honestly! I just started using the Innersense leave in, hair spray and mousse which I’ve liked so far. I also use the morroccanoil curl defining cream (which I love), but I’ve always applied that after the mousse, and now I’m thinking I should apply that first? So should the order be leave in conditioner, curl cream, then the mousse (or gel), then hair spray?
@GenaMarie
@GenaMarie 4 года назад
I've always liked creams first for moisture, then mousse for hold after. The only time i will use mousse first is when I'm just applying it to my roots for volume.

@GenaMarie

Do you wash or style your hair upside down? I find that when I do that my hair falls in my face more. Also if you have ringlets, it helps to let the face framing ones to hook around the others to hold them back 😊

@@GenaMarie Mine drives me crazy too and I'm at the point where I am going to cut my fringe/bangs back in with the household scissors!! I had been doing everything upside down in the shower, but my body doesn't always cooperate as I have MS. I don't have much curl in the very front sections because I keep tucking it behind my ears!!! I have fairly high density medium/coarse hair (plenty of silvers!!). I'd appreciate any tips xx

I have a question. Is ACV gonna actually clarify ur hair completely? Cuz when I use it, it does improve my scalp health but i still notice some buildup. Does marketed clarifying shampoos work better than ACV rinse? Plus, u should definitely make a video abt that! ❤️

Yes, a good clarifying shampoo works better than ACV. I get much better results.
@rmz_5776
@rmz_5776 4 года назад
An ACV rinse does not clarify hair. It acts more like a conditioner or co-wash. You still need an alkaline ingredient (i.e.: surfactant) that will aid in getting rid of dirt, oil, build up etc.
@owainh1347
@owainh1347 4 года назад
I’d say just use a sulfate shampoo to clarify then you know you are 100% getting rid of buildup :)

I tried using the Denman brush, but it's a little time consuming, plus the fact I live in a super hot and humid area of coastal Texas, I went back to finger combing. It works better for me for volume and curl definition. My curls were bigger and looser with the brush. I still will keep it for a nice style change for a night out or in the winter when my style will last longer than 2 days.
