Wow I would like to visit this beautiful country. This is perfection. The countryside, the centre, the houses, people too. It's all quite amazing. I'm sure that lifestyle there would be higher in relation with other parts of Europe.
Denmark along with the other Scandinavian countries and Germany and France are the most evolved countries in Europe, so if you're from USA you might want to visit some of those countries if you don't want a cultural shock Edit: rereading that comment made me realise it could seem pretty offensive, it was not meant as an insult against the rest of Europe, the southern countries are beautiful! I meant that the countries in question are more like USA than some other countries in Europe
Wow that's good to know. Surely if I go there one day I'll get a shock, because it seems that people live quite good in those countries. Thank you for the information. Kind regards. Nicolas.
In the summer time there is no where I rather be than in beautiful and green Denmark. And we have about 8.750 km of coast line, so the beach is newer far away. ❤❤
If you want to visit Denmark then Blokhus is a really beautyfull place with lots of things like restaurants, sand skulpturer, koncerts and you can even drive your car on the long beach
Rachid Bechikhi I don't really know how you can come and live here permanently, there is a bunch of rules, and it's all confusing. However people can come and study in our country and if they are lucky that can lead to you being able to get a permission to stay in Denmark
Madelaine Thomsen Thanks, one more question, what should i study to get permission to stay in danmark?, i mean what is most needed in denmark so i can fill the gapes and so they'll need there to stay? and... thanks again.
Rachid Bechikhi well we have many international studies, within a lot of different educations. Try google "study in Denmark" I'm sure you can find something relevant. I'm not fit to give informations about this :) Because I know little of the rules
+Rachid Bechikhi Engineering. Specializing in something like environmental engineering or sanitary engineering, but any kind of engineer really as they are in high demand. Also, learn Danish if you don't know it already - this will aid you immensely in getting a job here.
NERD WARNING: Except that there is literally no mountains in Denmark, the highest “mountain” in Denmark is called Himmelbjerget. The funny thing is that Himmelbjerget directly translated means “the sky mountain” wich is ironic because it’s not even a mountain, it’s a hill. it’s to small to be qualified as a mountain Denmark = 100x flatter than a pancake Sorry for being a nerd
@@sissemeta Natural highest or just highest? One of the hills has a building on top of it and the one with the building is the highest, but not the highest natural one.
Scream Buster just saying as a Dane. It rains a LOT but the few past days it has actually been quite sunny. Hope you will have a great trip to Denmark if you want to come :)
My favorite part of Denmark is most definitely northern-west of Jylland. It’s the most calming, beautiful, and during summer the weather is just amazing!
@@squatch545 The weather is generally bad there. At least compared to Spain. There are bad summers and good summers there. When the summer is good, the weather there is more nice than Spain. Especially if you are near the Vesterhavet (The West Ocean). Løkken and Blokhus.
Wow! Very beautiful sceneris and beautiful buildings and great Churches. I am a senior citizen from Singapore. I have never been to all these fantastic countries. I'm very blessed I can travel around the World on RU-vid. Ha ha! Thank you very much RU-vid
Ivy Lim aw sad to hear.... but if you ever deiced to come I’ll hook you up with cheap commendation and show you all the not expensive tourist traps !!!
Denmark seems like such a cool place.. I do hope to visit it someday..Best wishes, from a guy in India. Danmark er så smuk! Sorry for any mistakes, my Danish is so rudimentary.
Greets from Hamburg, northern Germany. My city is only two hours from the german-danish border away which means that I do visit Denmark quiet often and I just have to say: Jeg elsker Danmark! Der er et yndigt land!
10:26 "a happy ending" ?? You haven´t actually read Hans Christian Andersen´s work, have you? The most bleakest, darkest of all fairytales come from him...
@@nec22999 Many of his works were rewritten due to them not being suitable for todays kids. Originally the mermaid dies and turns into seafoam, thats just one of the makabre originals.
vanefreja86 I came to denmark in marsh it was not perfect during this month specially the northern region of Denmark like / hjorring and skagen and hirtshals but I really lived it it's so amazing places and the people are lovely and friendly, unfortunately my visa finished while the the spring began and th weather gets beautiful
Also the entire west coast of Jutland with it's huge beaches, German WWII bunkers and related museums etc. Jelling with its viking history, the Jelling Stones, and their new fancy museum which is awesome. Silkeborg region could also be interesting I think, and maybe the Dybbøl area down south with its historical significance to Denmark.
I am absolutely enjoying your videos of travels through Europe Mr. Steves. I am from a little island in the Caribbean called Barbados. Your videos really make me feel that I am "there" in the actual countries that you visit. Safe travels and great job on the videos.
Nordic nation is praiseworthy. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An egalitarian and cohesive society where there is no poverty. No egoistic and greedy billionaires with wealth hidden in tax havens , enjoying Epstein lifestyle of sin and shame. No megalomaniac materialism. No military adventurism. No jingoism and hypernationalism. A serene and successful society of humble honest and hardworking people.
I'm from Copenhagen (Amagerbro) but this was a nice video to watch. Eventhough I've travelled a lot around Denmark with my father it's easy to forget how beautiful rural Denmark is. If you're planning a long weekend trip to Copenhagen I can highly recommend visiting Roskilde (about 30 minutes by regional train from Copenhagen Central Station), Hillerød where Frederiksborg Castle is (approx. 40 minutes by S-train from Central station), Helsingør or in english, Elsinore, where "Hamlet" and Kronborg Castle are located - approx. 45 min. by regional train from Central station). Trains run most of the day with 10- or 20-minutes interval. It's not cheap compared to ex Berlin or Prague but nothing is cheap in Denmark. As a local I can always give good advices concerning budget travelling and it is possible to find cheap places to eat for example in Nørrebro where I'm currently residing. Have a nice day folks :)
sustainable living😩 and a country who never forgets where they came from. in my country people seems don't care. adopting changes to modernization even we're still not developed
Lucky..hmm..we have no natural ressources to speak of, our contry is the size of a big city, nobody speaks our language outside Denmark and we cant hide anywhere because its flat as a pancake:) ..it not just luck
16:30 Those buildings look like half-timbered "Caribbean" houses for their colors 😅. I wouldn't expect that in Scandinavia, but I think I don't know enough about Scandinavia. Perhaps it's time to visit it again. I went to Denmark in 2008, but Copenhagen only. I'd love to go back.
Denmark a great historic Place love the ship building history and Anderson’s museum with theatre so enjoyable.Legoland a true park for one to visit love it.Museums Great to view love watersides and history of land .A place a must visit..A small country but lots to offer.must visit tell friends of great country .Thanks Rick.
Over the years I have really enjoyed Rick's journeys through Europe and elsewhere. I was lucky to visit many of the places he has showcased because I worked for Continental Airlines for twenty years. The scenery was great in all of the countries I have visited, but it's the people I met along the way that I will remember the most! From the man in Scotland that helped me fix a flat tire, to a couple in Ireland that fixed me a great Irish Sunday dinner, to a lady I met in Hyde Park that just wanted to talk with an Anerican, to a Turkish man that played Backgammon with me for hours in Istanbul (neither of us spoke the other's language), to a family in Italy that I stayed with for a week. Thanks Rick!
The most happiest country in the world!!! Ahhh i really want to be here😣😣😣fairytale country with nice culture and happy people, such a joy to live here
For a tourist maybe, and in this video, yes. But we do have many depressed people, many alcoholics. We do have some criminality of course, some drug addicts an so on, not everything is idyllic! I don't know why and how Denmark came to be the most happy people, because we are not! And we have a lot of mobbing each other. Our politicians have become very corrupt, very sad, and they are rapidly destroying our welfare system, including the hospital system and our formerly good public school. We are really desperate now. But apart from that is is a good country
Well if you missed something to tell in my mind. it is The story of Holger danske. a stone statue said to come to life and defend Denmark in times of need and suffering. a great viking worrier statue
LiquidBlackWolf Yes, I'm surprised he spent so much of the episode on Aero. It looks nice and it seems he harbors a special affection for it, but as an American who recently visited Denmark for 10 days (and saw just about everything) there were several things that I think could have warranted inclusion instead of lingering there so long. Namely, Kronborg Castle (with Holger Danske and the Hamlet connection), Egeskov Castle on Funen, Ribe (and the Wadden Sea), the Jelling Stones/mounds, Aalborg (Linholm Hoje is a better Viking cemetery than the one he showed), and Skagen. Or maybe this means a third episode on Denmark is called for! (I'd recommend doing Ribe when the International Viking Market is running, as that would make for some great shots). As an aside, I also found it interesting that he chose to go to Aros Museum in Aarhus even *BEFORE* the Rainbow Panorama was installed (which is really its biggest draw now). I would definitely be inclined to "update" the Aros part of this episode (if they ever do such retroactive editing) with a blurb on the Rainbow Panorama (and I'm not sure The Horse Sacrifice is there anymore, so maybe they could be swapped...) Frankly, a fourth episode on Denmark is probably warranted too. Namely a second episode on Copenhagen. I was surprised at some of the things he left out in Copenhagen too: Amalienborg Palace (was really surprised at this omission; though I noticed the "out-take" there at the end), the Kongens Nytorv, the Marmorkirken, the Rundetaarn, the Assistens cemetery, the Designmuseum and State Art Museum (he should mention Eckersberg in addition to Kobke!), the Dyrehaven and Gruntvig's Kirke to the north, and maybe even the Louisiana Museum and Den Bla Planet are worth mentioning in a follow-up episode on Copenhagen. (A quick shot *inside* the Radhus main hall would have been nice too, maybe a blurb about Jens Olsens world-clock).
+Mark Kendall If you were in Denmark for only 10 days, you did not see just about everything. Sorry to break it to you. :P There's plenty for you to discover still! Sometimes the least spectacular things are even the most spectacular. :D Did you see Møns Klint, though?
I can understand why he chose to stay on Aero/Aeroe/Ærø for so long. I'm danish (and half greenlandic, by the way) and have seen many places in Denmark, felt the atmosphere every place, and there's many wonderful spots. But there IS something very special going on on Aeroe. a deep feeling of peace, almost unconscious...a calmness...and I HAD to move to this Island to live here, and have finally found peace in my soul and life
I’m from England and never really thought anything of Denmark I know nothing about it and assumed it was just like Holland but it seems so beautiful and I would love to visit as a history lover
Denmark has a lot of museums for ancient history as well as recent history. I'd recommend visiting the Sea War Museum in Thyborøn centered around the battle of Jutland in 1916 if you ever decide to visit :)
TastyCookie45 you have bind all over Denmark i see WOW... You should try go to Jyllinge their are not many things to see but When their is storm the city get flooded all over.
@@Alkomp75 Hi there :) If you are going to go across the internet and spread facts around about data then you need to learn to understand that data. Do you know why the use of antidepressants is high? Because our healthcare is "free". It costs nothing to see a doctor and getting a prescription if you need help is both easy and very affordable. We don't hide our mental health issues because we have the means of treating them. Unlike america for example where people avoid treating their health issues because the cost of medication is so high. Also Denmark is one the most advanced countries in the world when it comes to registering data. We track everything. This is also why our covid data is some of the most trusted sources in the world. Also we use antidepressants to treat anxiety instead of benzodiazepines, because it is less addictive. So I would suggest you learn why data is different in different countries :) It's almost a science in itself. And we are proud of how seriously we take it.
Find it a little amusing that only H.C. Andersen was mentioned for Odense, considering it's one of the oldest cities in Denmark (dates back to the Viking age), hosts Europe's best zoo according to EAZA, and has a living, functional Reenactment village from the middle ages. And of course, in Aarhus, the Art Museum's impressive rainbow panorama.
+Cinderbloom Of course there's more to show about all of Denmark but it's a short video so he obviously had to cut out a lot of potential sights. Just look at Jutland.. He only visited Aarhus. He could have gone to Aalborg, Viborg, Silkeborg area (for the beauty), the west coast fishing towns, the bunkers along the sea, Råbjerg Mile (basically a moving desert), Skagen and so on and so on. These videos are way too short to go into great detail about every little region of the countries though so I think he did a good job. It's nice to see something about Denmark that isn't just "Come to Copenhagen and think you've now seen Denmark." :P
Hey Marie ,,,,If you have enough Money try to travel to Iran at spring , Most of Mountains are covered by wild flowers in this season ,Even you can see beautiful cities and Luxury Malls here
I wish people would stop saying "proud to be Danish" but instead would say "thankful to be Danish". No one decides where they are born and just because you've been born somewhere doesn't mean you've made any contribution to the greatness of the country. I'm happy and thankful to be Danish, but it's not something I can take pride in cause I didn't do anything to achieve it.
Hey Rick, thanks for presenting our homeland in such a nice and positive manner! A warning to all of you out there who really want to visit Denmark - it's cold and dark in the winter and less charming, especially for southerners. We also (sadly) don't get as much snow as our northern neighbors, but when we do, winter is just as charming as summer! Summer, however, there's no place on Earth I'd rather be than in Denmark during summer... Oh man.
Privacy is very important. Danish people have a big personal space too. Most people are of course friendly enough. Copenhagen is the place for tourists. I know I would hate to see a bunch of american tourists on my country road.
Excellent tour video, Steve! Great to see focus on the rest of the country, I live on Funen (Odense), it's usually Copenhagen all the time for most visitors... :)
Denmark is so beautiful, I was there in 2013 by late spring and early summer, what a mesmerizing land. Full of color, great architecture, very clean and organized AND people are quite hot lol It´s a bit expensive but it´s totally worth it, fully recommended :)
Bjornt long time ago but if you ever wanna revisits... I’ll bet I can make it cheaper for you and still make it enjoyable... shhh 🤫 avoid the tourist traps !!!
I am planning to go to Denmark at the start of November this year. And as I love the Frisian Islands/Wadden Islands, that I often visited in The Netherlands where I live, I am thinking about visiting them in Denmark also. What Islands are Worth visiting? And anyone got more tips for me to visit? I love rocky places if that helps?!
I'd recommend to visit Roskilde, Helsingør, Kalundborg, Næstved, Odense, Århus & Ribe for cities with a lot of culture and history to explore. Otherwise, go out to the countryside and explore the land, perhaps with a person from the area to explain if you'd want that :) Most Danes are fairly good with english as our language can be hard to learn :)
