To me compare Henry with Bergkamp its like trying to compare Suárez with Messi, Henry was a great player but with out a doubt Bergkamp was the superior one, even when they ask Petit in a FIFA 18 video who was better, He immediately said bergkamp didn't even have to think about it.
Bergkamp is overlooked a lot and didn't win world player or anything because he wasn't someone who was constantly after the ball. It was never a case of give it me, give it me, he'd make space for others by getting defenders to move out of position, suddenly pop up in open space, play ridiculous passes for others to score and control the game that way. The players people think of as greats always wanted the ball and felt they needed to do something spectacular. Bergkamp could do that stuff there's footage of him ghosting past players and doing incredible moves but he didn't do it much. It just wasn't his style.
Brilliant compilation man! I already knew all the footage, but to focus on the beauty of only his passing opens up a new perspective on Bergkamp. For me it does. I think the beauty of his passes is in the fact that it is so incredibly precise, and, so it seems, given with such effectiveness and ease.
@@sjaakdewinter6258 No Cruyff is the best Dutchman and European player ever. Much more complete and better technically, could play passes and control balls while moving at high speeds, which is much harder to do than when standing still or not running fast. Bergkamp had better improvisational ball controls though, perhaps more moments where you'd question if they could be replicated. Cruyff could do everything at a world class marquee level, including tackling and acrobatic finishing. He was also perhaps the most two footed player there's ever been. He could ping inch perfect 40 yard trivela passes with *either* foot! He could also chip keepers from 20+ yards with his left; pretty much all of Bergkamps chips are with his right! I rate Bergkamp very highly, but he's a level below Cruyff, around that of a Laudrup or Platini, who were themselves exceptional players, criminally underrated in this day and age!
@@sjaakdewinter6258 If you think Bergkamp is superior then you need to do some research. Either your ball knowledge is seriously off or you just haven't seen enough of Cruyff. This might be a good place to start, European Cup tie away to defending La Liga champions Real Madrid (the type of games Bergkamp notoriously missed out on...) 👉ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0UQka-IPcuQ.html Cruyff's command of the whole pitch, dropping deep to collect the ball, dictating play with his pinpoint accurate passing and dribbling is unmatched by any European player to date. Only thing that could be argued is that Bergkamp had a better first touch, but even that isn't easy to determine as the balls and pitches Cruyff played on were different. It would be better if you compared him to players from his generation, such as Zidane, who Bergkamp *was* superior to!
Great player with a lot of nice touches and spectacular goals, but he had too many matches where he was somewhat invisible which probably was the reason why he never was voted world/european player of the year....
Bergkamp was third best world player of the year in 93 and 97, and in Ballon d'Or came third in 92 and second in 93.... though I wouldn't say he was invisible he was vital to the team and the statue they built of him proves that, just that you must be forgetting the types of players back then.
