FSU is one of the top 15 most valuable brands in America. It’s well documented. What in the world is Dodd talking about and why did you agree with him?
Sorry, you guys are super late on information and insight. This sounds like comments someone would’ve made 6 months ago. B1G is very interested in FSU…and not 6 years from now. 20 minutes of hard research would’ve yielded far better intelligence (as in info). It’s almost like you guys are trying to get it wrong, (for whatever reason). Stay tuned.
you fSu fans are accursedly stupid to believe that nonsense. Statistically by ratings, you aren’t even the top team in your state. ( news flash its UF) how the heck would you be the third best after Georgia and Bama?… not to mention Texas, OU, LSU ( whom statistically had the worst defense in program history when you played them, but fsu is allowed to use the UGA debacle as an excuse) or even Tennessee is a better program than fsu. I feel as if i’m being pranked with foolish phrases on youtube.
His career is after that ridiculous take. As if FSU is willing to blow hundreds of Millions of dollars, in payouts, just to head to the Big12. Obviously they have some assurances from the P2 networks or they wouldn't be wasting their time.
Soccer tried this with $100 of billions more.. most popular sport on the planet... Things will change again in 2029.. college football is still regional no matter how hard you force it..
The consolidation down to the P5 ultimately wasn't enough and dilution continued to increase. It's also interesting to note that while the old BIGEAST and SWC accepted their relegation down when the P5 formed, the BIG12 didn't and hasn't accepted its relegation during this current consolidation. Anyway, once the new Tier 1 consolidation is complete, i t will sub-divide regionally to maximize regional synergies.
@@roris5882 ND isn't joining the B1G until a) the revenue gap causes its football to be non-competitive or b) playoff access is at material risk. This story is now 3 years old. The SEC and B1G will have to go to ~24 each before I see playoff access at risk. A lite ACC depletion won't do it. Moreover, ND now has too many legal entanglements for a feasible move prior to 2036. The B1G is clearly treating UNC and perhaps UVA as lost to the SEC.
If you’re going to do anything in life, no matter what it is why would you not do it for the most money possible!! how does that not make sense to people?
@@tarheel7406 🤣😂🤣 so continue to get 30 million when you can get 80 million for the same service. Continue to fall behind everyone that’s making 80 million. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
@@UNCGRAD0647 Moronic.... a) Dodd is clearly wrong on values, especially holistic/relative value. b) I suppose ND also put FSU and CLEMSON in its place? c) The expansion over objections will make a GOR challenge easier. UNC/UVA have diversified value and assured P2 landings, so they aren't desperate. I actually hate to keep reminding, but FSU doesn't have to value, brand or respect to avoid the CFP snub.
@@UNCGRAD0647 Nope.... Example vids: "What we know about UNC potentially LEAVING the ACC | College Football Enquirer | Yahoo Sports" "Dan Wetzel: If FSU Can Get Out of the Grant of Rights It Will Be the End of the ACC | Realignment" (~5-minute mark) "Bob Thompson: The ACC Being the Next Conference to Break Up Is Not Good For ESPN | Realignment" (~10-minute mark) "North Carolina wanting OUT of the ACC? | How Things Stand in Chapel Hill with Bubba Cunningham, UNC" "Matt Fortuna: North Carolina Is the Most Desired Brand Among All of the ACC Schools | CFB" (~7-minute mark) It's amazing that you're hanging your hat on Dodd. His position is that FSU (and UNC) aren't of Tier 1 value and that UNC is highly valued. You have to take the good and bad. So you go with the one source you can reference that says FSU is the top priority but relatively trash. I'll go with all of the other professionals.
Please note: Dodd's take is that FSU isn't worth more than any other ACC or Big 12 team. Note that he opined that FSU will (probably) get a half share for the next 10 years if they were to join the BIG10. When it's all said and done, we'll know if this guy's opinion should be trusted or if it shouldn't.
More likely FSU doesn't have the brand, value or respect to avoid the CFP snub. CLEMSON had no problems, and I'd bet neither would have MIAMI, UNC or UVA.
@@mikemclendon4962 Doesn't take a brain surgeon to see that FSU was snubbed. Just like FSU and its fans to blame others. Also remember that apparently FSU wasn't even contacted when the B1G expanded with UMD and RUT.
FSU will leave the ACC. Clemson will too. I don't think anyone else can afford to, so the ACC will be fine. Those are the last two major brands not in the SEC or B1G (except Notre Dame, who is staying independent regardless).

This is one of the most bizarre conversations I’ve ever heard. They are saying that FSU doesn’t generate the same money as the bottom of the B1G and isn’t worth a full share. It’s one thing to be ignorant but to be publicly ignorant is embarrassing. FSU generated $78-81m last year for the ACC. In the B1G, they would generate over $100m. I want to see the list of B1G schools that do that for the B1G. Let’s see that list. You are saying that FSU would be a bottom feeder in the B1G. Show me the numbers. I presume that you have that data. You do don’t you? An Ohio State - Florida State matchup would be the national game of the week. That’s some bottom feeder. In CFB, viewership pays the bills. I had presumed that you knew that. FSU was #7 last year, ahead of ND. That’s a bottom feeder? Then what does that make every B1G school behind them? Very disappointing. I had higher expectations.
You two dude sitting here talking about they don’t match up with sec & Big Ten schools. Those schools have been making 40 more million dollars per year since 07 man y’all need to get right.FSU with the same money Fsu dominates both leagues.
Really? They're all failed anchors who let the ACC and Big 12 down by not winning. FSU, Texas and Oklahoma all won BCS championships and failed in the playoff era. FSU went 0-1 and haven't returned back since 2014 and Texas and Oklahoma went 0-5 in playoff wins. Their SEC (LSU and Alabama) and Big Ten (Ohio State) BCS champion counterparts manage to win playoff championships. That's why the SEC and Big 10 are the richest conferences.
@@CarlaJenkinsTV This is one the reasons I find FSU fans so unimpressive. The ACC added FSU to be a football tentpole and FSU agreed to be a tentpole, yet now all i hear are complaints about the expectations of FSU to be a carrier. FSU has certainly failed in that one expectation over the past ~10 years, and I suspect partially due to diverting investment away from football towards other sports.
@@CarlaJenkinsTV well. Tx and Ok are gone. I guess the other big 12 teams will have to step up and be powerhouses now to make up for losses that don’t mean much. Same for the ACC soon.
Carla and Tarheel like clockwork...I figure out Carla is a Gator...so now it all make sense..they kind of have a complex since their programs are going downhill fast...Poor tarheel trying to dog a program with lies that has won half the championships since joining the conference 30+ years ago while NC has won NONE. Carla clueless and Tarheel is like the snake that is NC...very unimpressive
I appreciate Dennis Dodd very much and I appreciate everything he has to say and write about, but this man needs to get a better phone line connection. Almost every interview it sounds like he is speaking in a tin can on Mars.
FSU beat all of their sec opponents except Georgia because it wasn’t the same team. It will not be $572 mm if the espn agreement is released. Transparency.
@newyorknole2225 What you or I think doesn't matter. Just simply look at it from the outside looking in... what leverage does FSU have? FSU wants out of the ACC. That's a constant variable. They want to go to the B1G (which is a bad strategy to openly admit, you box yourself into a corner when negotiating). So if/when they leave the ACC, they'll have no leverage against the B1G to make them pay out full shares. When they can get FSU with partial shares because of the lack of options on FSU's part. Nothing can be done right now to legally force the B1G to pay FSU full shares without the B1G being sued by the ACC. And if you think we live in a world where people will wilfully overpay for the same product, they can get for half off when they don't have to... you sir are in for a rude awakening. If you disagree with my logic, please let me know what leverage FSU has? And on top of that... why would other B1G members agree to take in even less by offering FSU a full share? If/when the B1G adds FSU, the benefits the B1G gets by adding FSU are the same, whether it's full shares or half. So riddle me this, when was the last time you agreed to pay over market value of off the kindness of your heart? Maybe y'all don't think things through. Not to mention, needing private equity in order to leave is not only a bad move. It's a bad look. I, for one, am from the south, so I know the value FSU brings. But what I believe doesn't matter. Without a threat of the B1G missing out against the SEC or a legitimate threat of going independent, FSU will be forced to take whatever they can get. College football is big business after all. And business can get cut throat. Just reach out to the Oregon State & Washington State, the G5 will also be able to tell you how unfair it is.
Then I guess y'all going to the big12. I know the B1G isn't going past half shares and ESPN isn't going to want to bump it up for full shares either, especially if they know the B1G is offering half shares.
This just confirms what I’d suspected all spring. Nobody is going anywhere anytime soon. UNC is highly coveted. And the 2 big conferences can indeed be sued for tampering if they tried to start negotiations. ACC teams had all better get used to Berkeley and Palo Alto for a while.
@@newyorknole2225 Outside of his estimated value of the top ACC members (which doesn't reconcile with what we know and reasonably believe), Dodd's position generally agrees with his peer reporters and analysts.
After that 63-3 drubbing by Georgia, they better stay their happy behinds in the ACC. The ACC serves as a protective coating from the real world. Notice how everytime in the playoff era, FSU steps up in competition it's either a 39-point loss to Oregon in 2014 playoff semi-final or a 60-point killing to Georgia.
I will add that claiming that the top brands of the ACC have the same value as the average new BIG12 member is rather disqualifying as an analyst. As repeatedly reported, FSU has less relative value than other ACC options from the respective perspectives of the SEC and B1G, but FSU is still worth more than ~$30M per annually.
@@THEeyepatch11 Just proves that FSU is trash on the other relevant factors. Always remember that from the perspective of the SEC and B1G, no matter how "worthless" you claim UNC to be, FSU is seen as worth less.
Tarheel with another unhinged comment...pulling numbers out of his ass as usual...UNC is the one only worth $20-$30m...football is terrible, basketball is already losing ground to SEC, and baseball doesn't make any money...loser in the biggest game of all...and we will be here for it the next 10 years..hope you enjoy the new remade ACC..where maybe you and a Miami can actually be competitive again in it..
@@cdray-qy7wp Moron.... Such a cautionary tale in the making. Per the history and credible reporting FSU and CLEMSON aren't even the top expansion targets in the ACC for the SEC and B1G. FSU could easily end up getting its full value and a full share in the new BIG12.
