I was like "awww this poor guy. He doesn't seem so bad." until he started chopping up people and shit. Damn. I mean sexual frustration and a shitty childhood are one thing, but hacking up people is another.
I think the oxygen deprivation during his near-death experience fucked up his brain. Maybe if he hadn't been through that he might have been a normal guy :/
OnlyRoke ....I dont understand why they have to chop people up🤢killing is of course terrible but just let it stay there....i cant understand it ewww..crazy people😠
I lived in London, and a family friend moved into the apartment below Dennis's. They said that the place felt creepy and unsettling, and they got the place blessed by a priest. I would feel disturbed too...
Places can feel creepy BEFORE you know. Intuition is mocked but thousands of times has come in handy. Some people have ego that every thought is a "gut" reaction, but really most can follow it with no issue. I've known several times before and then RANDOM tragedies happened RIGHT where I knew we should avoid, sadly.
@@erockstoenescu6171 well to be fair. I know people in their 40s who still look 20 something. I'm 34 and still get told i look 20 something. I guess it depends on how you age. the aging process kind of scares me. I guess I consider 55-60 to be reaching old age.
Well well well, I'd it isn't MR SLAV? The youtuber that always have a way of putting Space at the end of the lists in his videos, and whom I subscribed to less than two years later
This reminds me of a man who said he saved Adolf Hitler from drowning when he was young boy,he said he felt guilty due to fact of how Hitler became as a man. He often thought what if he had just let him drown.
Only Rob can deliver the Serial Killer files like a true BOSS! The change is a great one Bro, you have my support like always!! Keep up the great work.
*Thank you for watching the first edition of SERIAL KILLER FILES! I sincerely hope you enjoyed this occasional change of pace. If you'd like to support the show, all I ask is that you THUMBS UP and SHARE this episode on Facebook/Twitter! It'd mean a LOT! Thank you so much again, and if you have a recommendation, tweet me!*
You put so much effort into this series I rely hope your channel grows and this series continues to get bigger, better and most of all thrive on RU-vid.
Very intuitive, particular if you've never studied it. When you teach a child something at youth they don't understand right or wrong. Children have no morals. So yes- his sexual attachment bonded negatively. Most serial killers understand they are doing wrong, but lack an emotional attachment to it. So it doesn't "feel" wrong.
THAT was excellent stuff Rob. I appreciate the time it took to create it. The opening credits were absolutely brilliant! I really enjoyed it. I look forward to more! Thanks again!
"He began to fantasize about engaging in sexual acts with his friends while they were unconscious.... or dead." I shouldn't have laughed at that.... It's just damn man, quite the leap he took there.
This guy fascinates me. He was just so god damn weird. He gave up everything when asked. He opened the cabinet filled with bags of body parts and air fresheners without even being asked. Not out of remorse or anything. He scarcely seemed to care. So weird...
Miranda Flores They'd probably act really nice and kind towards each other, fall in love, then try to descreetly murder each other when they returned home.
Dahmer wanted someone who was completely compliant, who would only attend to his needs. Of course, there is no one like that and so the only way he could achieve a compliant partner was by knocking the person unconscious and then later going on to kill them. This did not satisfy him for long given he would have to dispose of the corpse after a while and wouldn't get any further use out of it except through the pictures. Alas, he thought of creating a sex zombie so he could keep the person permanently. Dennis on the other hand, he was lonely and developed extreme abandonment issues after the death of his grandfather. It was not so much about the pleasure he would receive from the person as it was about their being there. I feel if Dahmer had of known/gotten into a relationship with Dennis it would of worked as long as Dennis didn't demand for anything and complied to Dahmer's needs only and in return he would no longer be lonely.
I feel like this series is grossly underrated. These videos are extremely interesting and entertaining, not to mention creepy. This series really doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
Cayleigh Elise does a series on unidentied murder victims and Rob does a series on serial killers. I'm glad they share people's stories, even if they are sad, because it teaches us about crime and murder! Thanks Rob for making this awesome series!
I will admit, I was particularly excited for this one, because my favourite character from one of my favourite books is based on this guy... Very interesting to hear more about him!
***** It's really good. As long as you don't mind reading sexual things or gore, I would highly recommend it. It can be a bit of a tough read sometimes, at least to me, but still.
I guess you could say*Puts sunglasses on* .... He didnt give much breathing room in his relationships YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Man every show you do keeps getting better. you keep making this feel less and less like a RU-vid show and more like a fully funded series. Really glad i subbed.
@@yelyharmony2047 They kind of look like rough sketches. People probably wouldn't think much of them if it weren't for the orange filter and the videos they're in.
Humans always had a twisted sense of justice and equality add to the fact that mental illness exists and that humans have the most powerfulest brain and you have a deadly species.
"What I did was not for sexual pleasure. Rather it brought me some peace of mind."" I don't lose sleep over what I have done or have nightmares about it." - Dennis Nilsen
It was just broadcast on ITV and it was so well done, Tennant was absolutely terrifying in it. Not sure if it'll be shown in the US, might end up on Britbox?
I thought the show was good. Also I met David Tennant two years ago at Comic-Con for my birthday. He bear hugged me and wished me a happy birthday as we got a Photo-Op together 😊😁📸
I met Dennis Andrew Nilsen in Brisbane Australia in 1973 .. after walking home from work at the Evans Deaken Shipyard at Kangaroo Point, I got to the Brunswick Hotel in New Farm at around 4:20 that afternoon. The pub was fairly crowded, there were some ppl I knew including an Englishman from London who had done a bit of time, who was in company with DAN who he introed as a former London policeman. I said "you were a "Bobby" then" and asked if they had known each other in Blighty, they said they had not .. I had seen video interviews and photos of Dennis Andrew Nilsen over a period of yrs, without ever recognizing him. He looked to be aged about halfway between the clean shaven, dark eyed dichotomization shot taken during his military service, and the Murderpedia shot shows him in a collar and tie! *He was a fairly big strong boned type, and gave the impression escaping his clutches would be difficult.* I did not much like the way he looked at me as though I were a slab of meat, and it was because of that and because of the shady rep of his companion, I departed the pub a short time later. I only saw the other dude once after that and he was full of sh*t .. I guess the period was after Nilson left the Metropolitan Police in 1973, and before he took up employment with the Civil Service in 1974. *Update ..* The person with Dennis Nilsen was a below average height fellow named Peter, who was working as a painter who I had met in the pub a few times before. He was a fairly good humored type, he said he had a hard time in prison because of his English accent, which to the other crims sounded like the screws who were mostly Englishmen. *The day he was with Dennis Nilson was a Friday.* When I went back into the pub the following Tuesday he was there without Nilson, when I suggested he join me he was rude .. I drank my drink and got out of the place like I had on the previous occasion, I never saw him again. Two days later on the Thursday, came a news report a man's body had been found in his New Farm flat, I immediately thought of Peter the rude English painter, as well I surmised he had become a victim of his friend Dennis Nilson. The police never launched an investigation, eventually assuring the public that since there were no signs of forced entry, and no suspicious marks on the deceased's body it was a natural death. The day I met Dennis Nilson in the pub he came right up close, I knew he was an ex London Policeman, he looked very strong and his profile suggested he was gonna place me in a policeman's arm lock. Which is a wrestling move that can quickly be turned into a sleeper hold, which will cause death if held for long enough by an experienced assailant. Suppose he killed his man in Brisbane in 1973, and the rest of his victims by the same method.
Not quite. If he serves life in prison, he has a life behind bars, never to see the world outside the prison. Sounds torturous enough, he can also get bullied by other inmates, hard hours of work out in the hot sun or dreadful cold. If he got electrocuted, it would be 5 min before death. Not that torturous.
Fine but the person who did it would be a killer with no blood on his hands its not fair that u think that people are allowed to kill others jsut because that other person had a psychological condition which cuased him to do what he did. Therapy caring not death be co siderate the mind is a very facinating thing and its so small sometimes it fucks up. Whos really the monster? The psychotic murderer or the perfectly sane wannabe killer? The answer is the sane wannabe killer
I'm not sure why but I thoroughly enjoyed watching these I've always had an awkward curiosity when it comes to this kind of stuff so it's nice to have small documentaries that I'm able to listen to about killers
I thought the show was good. I met David Tennant two years ago at Comic-Con for my birthday. He bear hugged me and wished me a happy birthday as we got a Photo-Op together 😊😁📸
I am one of the few that actually feels bad for some serial killers. I mean, I still think every last one of them should get the death penalty and go through the same torture that their victims did, but shit, if only there was a way you could go back and change their upbringing. After all. Nobody's born a racist. Nobody's born a hero. And nobody is born a serial killer either.
Robin Kramer Damn. Deep words, brother, deep words. *Award given for most quotable comment of the year* "Nobody's born a racist. Nobody's born a hero. And nobody's born a serial killer either."
+Robin Kramer whilst no one is born a killer, there are actually predispositions that people can be born with which cause psychopathy, which of course is what many of these serial killers are. Biologically, a psychopath tends to have damaged parts of the brain that control emotions and self control, for example the pre-frontal lobe. On top of this, there is a rare gene (or genetic malfunction I cant remember which) which affects serotonin levels which again results in anger issues and lack of self control. It's pretty rare for both to occur in a person, however the anger gene is genetic. If both of these factors are combined with a less than ideal childhood, you're pretty much guaranteed to become a serial killer.
Robin Kramer not true psychopathology is genetic not due to environmental factors. Fine to be intrigued by the deviant mind but do not let urself feel bad for these monster that is the first step to becoming a monster urself.....
Wish you'd come back man. I've been a fan since before this came out. I remembered this episode and I was so excited for a new series. I hope your well Rob. I'll always be part of the rob mob.
standingunder Ever since the genesis of Seriously Strange I've thought it would do well as a TV series, like this generation's Unsolved Mysteries or something.
I agree wholeheartedly, I like this series slightly more than I like Why Would You Put That On The Internet. Because this series captivates me and satiates my intrigue of the morbid and macabre, whereas the other show (can't be arsed to type it out again lol) while good for a laugh makes my forehead and nose hurt from facepalming so much and just makes me lose faith in humanity.
Love the show Rob! I wish you'd do it more, I found this series as a related video and I watched every single one in one afternoon. Keep it up man! You can count on me watching every single one.
Great job Rob! Love the innovative ideas Seriously Strange takes. Anyway, it'll be great if you dedicated one of these episodes to the "Port Arthur Massacre", it happened in the city I am living in, a small state that was severely hurt from the massacre. The killing spree ended with 35 dead, many children, and 23 wounded. It may not fit with the "Serial Killer" theme to it, but maybe you could mix it up a bit.
I love watching these late at night with a bag of dried snap peas. Now I understand why my grandmother used to watch those weird crime shows nonchalantly late at night while snacking lol.
these people we come to call monsters often have a very sad genesis, these people become cruel but the world that makes them is nearly always more cruel.
Dallas Cowboys For Life kinda my point really, its their experiences that make them what they are, the potential for wickedness is in us all, its mainly about how we view life and how we choose to act upon those perspectives.
I view these kinds of serial killers more as mentally abnormal people than as evil people. It's not a matter of sympathy yes or no. The point is that these people have some sort of mental anomaly causing them to desire and perform the gruesome acts they do. They can't be treated like common criminals who have rational motives for their crimes, because they don't have motives in that way, they just feel a compulsion they can't stop or control. It's horrible, but it's really beyond the question of feeling sympathy or not.
We have a very interesting serial killer called Bela Kiss, a man who killed women and hid their bodies in barrels. On wikipedia you can read an interesting article about him, he was very clever, and was never cought, despite killing 24+ people, and hiding them in plain sight in his garden.
Just binge - watched a whole bunch of Serial Killer Files and now I need to go rinse my brain with videos of kittens and baby sloths. Excellent series Rob, but chilling.
Dude, He worked in an employment agency in Kentish Town London. I was around 20 when I went in looking for a job. Boy, did he take a shine to me. He was weird as fuck and needless to say I didn't make his appointment the following week. Also warned my Scottish flatmate not to go in there as one of his strange Scottish brethren worked there. Big guy, also being an ex-cop would have known a few moves. Any of those unlucky guys he talked into having a few drinks and then getting him home, would have had trouble getting out the front door again. Sicko.
YakAttack Just a murderer. 'A serial killer is typically defined as a person who murders three or more people over a period of more than 30 days, with a "cooling off" period between each murder, and whose motivation for killing is largely based on psychological gratification.'
Here is some of my favorite Serial Killers: Oswald Chesterfield - Edward Nigma - Hugo Strange - Ra's al Ghul - Slade Wilson - Harvey Dent - Jonathan Crane
Ahhh Rob, I now prefer these episodes and the stories you narrate, rather than music on my train journeys. I bet people sneaking a peek at what I'm listening to will think I'm some crazy person. Love it. Keep up the good work!
It must be understood that most of these killers had an abusive or depressing childhood and are emotionally unstable... very unstable. Just try and put yourselves in their place as well, not only in the shoes of the victim, have empathy for all.
SAME. Well. Idk about favourite. But he's definitely one of my favourites. Although I think Rob tries to do lesser known serial killers, so it probably won't happen :/
***** Yeah... a lot of people who are in to this type of stuff do. For me it's not because I *like* what they *did*; it's because I find their stories interesting. Like how they get away with it for so long, their reasons for killing people, etc.
I LOVE ROB DYKE!!! This channel is awesome man I found out about it by seeing one of his vids in the related videos section.. That was yesterday morning.. Since then I've watched almost every single one of his serial killer and seriously strange videos. GREAT WORK ROB, JOOPIS (rather unique and odd username) AND JEFF KNIGHT! Very watchable videos, seemingly endless and fascinating topics, lots of superbly assembled background information (almost biographical) and an intriguing host.
Me. Also I met David Tennant two years ago at Comic-Con for my birthday. He bear hugged me and wished me a happy birthday as we got a Photo-Op together 😊😁📸
Update from Wikipedia: On 10 May 2018, Nilsen was taken from HMP Full Sutton to York Hospital after complaining of severe stomach pains. He was found to have a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, which was repaired, although he subsequently suffered a blood clot as a complication of the surgery. Nilsen died on 12 May. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that the immediate cause of Nilsen's death was pulmonary embolism and retroperitoneal haemorrhage

I almost feel for the guy. He didn't start out this way. Just a series of unfortunate events. Its hard enough for the gay community now imagine how hard and confusing it was for him. I agree he's a horrible person and did some unspeakable acts but he wasn't born that way.
No he shouldnt he should be helpedd. U want him to die, u believe its justified well so did he how confused would u be if u did something completely normal then u were suddenly bejind bars with no exp, ination as to how or why? Very ull find the answre id
If someone turns that way, it is partially because of their past but not all. there must have been something wrong with him before he turned into a killer, or else it wouldn't of happened.
Not_a_psychopath Yeah, you're right about people turning that way. But one case that always baffles me is the Columbine High School massacre. Dylan and Eric came from loving homes and good environments. When people ask why they were that way, no one can come up with a simple cause of their actions. But I think Brooks Brown actually came up with a somewhat plausible answer. He said that they were mad at society, at the world around them. *shrugs* It's just interesting to think about that some people just aren't what you think.
