13:25 Both Clint and Kevin literally called out Hamlin jumping the restart before the front row was even to the second line of the restart zone and this was live.

Denny obviously jumped but I think at that point it would've been fair game for Truex to move Denny going into turn 1. Don't give NASCAR the chance to be inconsistent with their rulings and don't give Denny the chance to "use him up".

The caution for Kyle Busch was uncalled for and to quickly thrown.

Good job by Denny and his team to hijack the win away from Martin. I don't blame Truex I would have crashed the entire field after all that went down 😂

The Kyle Busch yellow ruined Bowman’s race

I totally understand why Hamlin jumped the start, but why he jumped it and that he jumped it are two different conversations. Just a week ago NASCAR was handing out race line penalties like candy, to the point of stripping SVG of his second place finish for being a few inches over the line. I questioned then whether he would have gotten a similar penalty if he had won. Now this week you have Hamlin jump the start by at least a car length before the actual line that’s painted on the track for all to see and NASCAR considers it a non issue.

They didn't show the actual restart zone but the 11 was way ahead 100 feet from the start finish line, it was obvious that he had jumped.

They need to get a Zamboni and flood the these short tracks because the current short track package isn’t half as good as the wet weather package

It's seems that NASCAR's inconsistency is the problem, not Denny's, Martin's, or Joey's decision to go early. I am sure all of them knew that whoever won, regardless of jumping the restart or laying back to get the advantage would be overlooked.

I agree Jumpman Hamlin won’t win a championship on his own but I believe NASCAR is trying real hard to give him one. Doesn’t anyone else find it interesting that the caution was caused by an employee of Denny’s, allowing the restart he jumped, at the his home track (talked about often during the broadcast to include his mom) and was sponsored by Toyota? 🤔

If there's a penalty for the possible jump, then there should be a penalty for laying back.

Denny's pit crew actually use to be Martin's a few years ago. They switched after Martin had issues with them, probably something else he was pissed about.

Wow, Door Bumper Clear seems to be Hamlins buddys hosting the show. Only ones (casey) (Brett) clearly saw what film showed. He clearly went before the line that everyone knows that is there. Just like track limits or the yellow line it is defined. Dale Jr said it right Nascar needs consistancy. If they wont take the win then fine him points. Two phantom cautions were done to pull the field back together.

Baby steps. Let them do it like this a few times before doing a hot transition. But that should be the goal.

NASCAR should spend more time drying pit road versus the track. With the wet weather tires they do not need to worry about the track as much.

54:50 Denny explained this week that his current pit crew used to be MTJ’s. Martin got rid of them some time back because he wasn’t happy with them. On top of every other reason he could’ve been upset at Hamlin, that one could’ve stung also.

They started the race on wet tires and the track was drying. Stay out of it and keep racing, let the teams switch when they want to.

Perhaps a comparison between the start zone of the NHRA and NASCAR would be useful to determine whether or not did Denny jump the start. First, it will be very helpful if NASCAR would define the space between the two lines which identify the start zone. NHRA has no distinct start zone, only the distance the driver of the dragster can move forward in order to break the beam of light to trigger starting light, or commonly known in NASCAR as the "tree" The distance is measured in millimeters. Dragster drivers can move their dragster to a "deep" which means the driver moves the car as closest as possible without breaking the light beam. NASCAR doesn't have the light system. In my opinion, the space between the lines is a "staging" area for the drivers, whether the choose to go "deep" next to the last line or stay back, either way to get a starting advantage. Truex was staging outside the start zone in an attempt to get a faster start than Denny because he was a foot or so back of Denny. To correct the start of the race, NASCAR should require both cars to cross the first line and go as far as ahead in the start zone as they wish. The race doesn't start until the bumpers have crossed the first line. No more "did he jump the start". Currently, only visual evidence, either from NASCAR cameras or other cameras will determine if a driver "jumped the start". NASCAR needs to get out of 70s and install proper starting system. There is no argument in NHRA.

I'm crying laughing at that opening!! lol Casey I agree!!! These boys are silly. My complaint is the camera angles are ridculous. I knew what felt like 1-2 minutes before that Larson and Wallace crashed.

The problem is NASCAR allows the 3rd and 4th place cars to lag back and get a run on restarts. Denny was smart not giving Joey a chance to jump him. Also sometimes force the ump to make a call.Nascar needs to tighten up the restarts.

The restart zone needs to be black and white. It was created to get rid of this sort of ambiguity on restarts. The zone needs to be enforced correctly 100% of the time, convenience shouldn't matter. Get the damn iron fist out and start reprimanding drivers who are laying back or getting rolling/jumping starts on the leader. You have to. Or you need to change your restart format so that the leader has the advantage they deserve no matter what's happening beside or behind him.

Larson/Wallace caution: I thought Larson got loose off the corner which slowed his forward progress and Bubba couldn't react fast enough and got into him?

I don't watch as many nascar races these days, but why on earth don't they point the camera at the leaders like they used to when I used to watch nascar consistently. Back in the day they'd always film the leaders doing their rolling restart. Most of the time camera in front or side view looking at the leaders as they restart.

Truex was only half a car length back. Hamlin went before the line. The control car jumped the start and what Truex was doing was irrelevant. 90% of fans have all agreed Hamlin jumped. Nascar protecting Hamlin as usual.

An idea I have for helping fry Pit Road is, before the green flag, have the Pit Crews squeegee the boxes, run the jet dryers down once and ALSO, use the exhaust of the cars to dry parts of Pit Road. Like they used to do to dry the track next to the wall. Since the cars have exhaust i=one both sides. One pass close to the wall, the next pass close to the Pit Box Line

NASCAR needs different compound tires for a race. Soft, medium, hard. You get to chose which compound when.

If Truex would've never mentioned that restart I don't think anyone would've ever noticed or cared about that restart.

Start the races on SUNDAY at 12:30 pm est.

If this is the rule: "Restarts - The control car starts the race within the restart zone. If the control car fails to do so, the flagman restarts the race at the end of the restart zone." - Note, at any point within the Restart Zone.... No one jumped the line on exit. The line is just marking the end of the Restart Zone and if the Control Car is therefore the race leader. It must be decided before the line of exit of the Restart Zone is crossed. Or the Flag Person gets to decide if the race is to restart. The Control Car must be ahead before reaching the end line of the Restart Zone, Or the car in the lane over can take the race lead before the Green Flag.

Nascar should have done what Indy car does when a restart is botched, they retry the start and give the driver a warning not to do it again. If they do that again, they get put to the rear of the field. Doesn't need to be that hard, and doesn't need to take multiple laps to sort, they just get bunched up again where they were before and go again.

I record the race, and start watching about an hour later, so I can fast-forward through the stupid commercials!!

Until NASCAR officiates across the board, this will continue to happen. The 11 went early, but both the 19 and especially the 22 were laying back. That has been a much bigger problem than the leader jumping. But if the 19 and 22 had better pit stops, this conversation may not be happening. The 11 pit crew was money on the last stop.

You guys have spotted thousands of races, as a 40+ year race fans and having seen thousands of restarts, Denny jumped, Martin was laying back, the restart should have been waived off and tried again.

Heated pit road could dry it faster. Here in Canada, some people run tubing with hot water under garage floors to heat them in winter. That may dry them faster

The race was ok only because the race started in the wet like a road course and the end of it was nearly like earlier at Daytona when officials screw money from people and public and that is why short tracks are hurting the business as i said many times. No more of short tracks and week off and headed to Texas next week.😮😮😮

For a GWC or 5 to go Nascar should wave a green flag to restart the race.

If I had a dollar for Everytime this season that I've seen the camera/shot literally TURN AWAY from obvious action happening to some pointless crap like one guy by himself I'd have a lot more than a dollar! Whoever is in charge of it clearly isn't the person for that job/position.

I always thought that the Cup Series had a premium production. Lately between F1, Cup, Xfinity and Arca the past few years F1 has a far superior production. All of F1 tracks are road courses they have an amazing product. We need to find better commentators for the booth. I don’t want to keep hearing Clint and Kevin taking jabs at each other. I’m sorry Kevin is so out of his element. David Croft and Martin Brundle are so awesome at keeping the race so exciting even if Team Red Bull is dominating the race. Go back to commentators like Bob Jenkins, Benny Parsons and Allen Bestwick!!!
