Yeah Denon are working really hard to change that perception, this unit will help massively we reckon (not to mention they have the best media players on the market)

I have to see someone do an hour set on this unit using all the features so we can see how responsive it is before I say it better. but, by looking at what it has to offer, pioneer might have its work cut out for them.

Totally agree with you, what they don’t understand is that pioneer, just to make an example, would have sold this for $3000 just thanks to the popularity they ha(d)ve

@@digitaldjtips Personally ive got a mc7000. But this Prime 4 looks like what the mcx8000 should have been in the first place !. Its fixed what was wrong with the 8000 and added more at the same time. Looks great !.

Good point. It seems also that it uses the same Play / Cue buttons as the mc7000 / mcx8000, sc5000, sc5000m. This button module is made out of plastic and it breaks quite frequently with use. See the DenonDJ forums. The part is very expensive from Denon, like $200 and often out of stock. They need to get on top of this with Service / Parts supply. Especially for items that are out of warranty.

@@digitaldjtips probably 2 things (i'm mobile dj) : The Output "Zone", that could play different music (F.i: if you locate a speaker in another room, for lounge ambience) + the capability to locate an hard disk in this player, and of course : no laptop :-) I'm using rekordbox and Serato, but the learning doesn't seem hard...

Definitely great features! With a 1TB hard drive this could literally hold a lifetime's music.

Moving platters and S/PDIF ins from the x1800. Denon Prime 4M++? Maybe in 2020? Some of the only things I see that I would want on it that it seems to be missing from their other products.

No hard drive is "built-in". You have to supply and install your own. You unscrew a little panel on the bottom side, and it will accept any 2.5" SATA drive. Either mechanical HDD, or a SSD drive.

@@dj_paultuk7052 I keep wondering why it states 1TB though, surely denser drives will fit, but the filesystem is maybe constrained to 1TB? Not that my digital music library is quite that large yet, close though.

according to other reviews you can connect the controller to a lap top to transfer songs when using an internal ssd.

44.1 16-bit is the spec, if you're worried definitely worth testing alongside each other.

if anyone is old enough to remember when home stereos were around. pioneer was a "good" brand. but denon was an audiophile brand usually costing much more. as far as their dj stuff. ive had many of there gagdets. unless you are tied to pioneer for work reasons. check a denon out and just see if you like it

Yeah we think they're definite contenders, best media players on the market and this is looking like it's going to be one of the best controllers on the market. Pioneer stuff is rock solid and of course their branding is second to none in the DJ world

According to DenonDJ forum, you can hook up the SC5000 via the line input, but at this time not via the link port.

Yes you can. You can use the tracks on an sc5000 for instance etc.

@@digitaldjtips thats a shame i was going to buy one but thats a deal breaker for me, vertical scrolling wave forms put me off, doesn't seem as natural as left to right. thanks for the first look.

If you head over to the Denon DJ forums there’s a thread about this and they have confirmed that both vertical and horizontal modes will be available in an update they’re working on!

It depends - if you get used to the central large screen of the Prime 4 and navigating with it, you may have a bit of difficulty navigating a CDJ-2000NXS2's screen :)

Once you can manually beatmix, adapting to playing on any equipment is not hard.

I doubt they'll bring Flip to this - although you will be able to use it with Serato.

They've included a tonne of features for the price though, hard to quibble :)

Yep, plug in a USB and the controller will analyse and all that good stuff, you can even use the touchscreen for sorting etc :)

If you're using your gear at gigs it's irrelevant what the industry standard is - the SC5000's are the best media players on the market

@@TheFunkloft Yes they paid him, but if they were no good he would not continue to use them. He is one of the reasons the sc5000 gear was proven to be as competitive and competent as it is. Check out his channel when you get a chance he list the festival dj's that use the sc5000 gear along with him. I have been using denon for a while i prefer it over the pioneer sz controller i have. As a matter of fact you can by my sz if you want. I have not used it in over a year. The only thing i like on it is the fact that i could use fx on the microphone and change peoples voice when they were using it. That was pretty cool. But i have an mc6000 that is rock solid, i use it when i need two systems at an event. My main console is the mc7000 and it has been perfect for me smaller than the sz and multi functional with no issues in over a year. Now i will be getting this prime 4, but i will still bring my laptop as back up connected to one of the channels. I do karaoke and VJ events as well as just dj, so i am not looking to get rid of my laptop. But this prime 4 is at another level. Denon has listened to what dj's have been asking for and it's only going to make the market better for us as other manufactures will follow. Have a great weekend man and keep em dancing.
