I heard both before, but my choice is Denon Pma 110. I have Denon Pma 110 with Martin Logan Motion 60xti, and i just love the sound amazing! Nad is great amplifier too, but everybody different! Great review!

Denon is still the better sounding amp for me IMO.... A blind A/B test on different speakers..not just one would be a fairer review . Its called pairing and synergy.

Hi I tried a purifi based amp that scored superb on ASR with my Focal Electra 926s and half of the music became unlistenable. High frequencies sounded really harsh and my GF had the same experience. I tried 10 days listening to it, but my Denon AVR X3500H (yes a receiver !) still sounded way better - something I had not expected at all. I think while class D offers superb low frequency handling, the high frequencies are still a challenge. Focals are known to be very detailed sounding and I guess they show the defects of class D and still need AB. I also don't think the M33 is worth the money. Even the phono stage is digitized btw. What's the point?

Hi! Denon fan here ! I find it hard to believe Nad M33 sounding better than Denon A110... No way can a M33 have a more gutsy sound than A110. I find it hard to believe judging by A110 internals compared to the M33. But what i find really hard to understand is how can you judge amps (whatever the brand) when listening mostly on bookshelf speakers with woofers no larger than 8 inch? ANY !! type of bookshelf even if it would be made by aliens is ....dinamically highly limited!! Let's assume you wanna keep 2 ways concept for purity, a JBL 4349 runs circles around Focals and Charios. Better yet a 4367! Then, you will be able to tell the real dynamics and quality of an amplifier. Real music doesn't even sound close to what those Focals or Chario bookshelfs sound like.

No experience with the NAD M33 but my recently bought Denon PMA-A110 was sent back for two reasons. Reason 1, the USB dac input needs a special driver if you are playing from a Windows PC. I couldn't find one for Windows 11 so couldn't use the higher res capability of the dac. Reason 2, I didn't think the sound was as good as my aged JVC AX-Z1010TN. The bass was heavy and it gave an overly warm effect, yet I found the treble and upper midband too bright. Also it just wasn't 'boppy' enough for me. It sounded slow. If the sound had been brilliant I would have kept it, regardless of the PC Driver problem. The sound issue could have been a mismatch with my speakers (PMC Twenty5/23 floorstanders) I think you should definitely audition with your speakers with this amp. It is incredibly well built and I wanted to really like it, but not for me.

Hi, The best example here is maybe under the same group and same roof: Marantz made Model 30 a class D, by contrast Denon kept all their PMA models class AB. As far as i understood after reading an online interview, the Denon engineer still considers class AB superior to class D. Even more than that, even without knowing prices, i have a hunch class AB components are more expensive than class D parts. Why would you lose money making an AB when you could make more making a D? There’s a reason i am inclined to believe: AB still sounds better!

These subjective comparisons are meaningless. If you want to compare two amplifiers' sound quality, you need the Audio Precision analyzer and start doing measurements instead of using stupid metaphoric descriptions...

Measurements alone are stupid. How about try listening for a change.
@GameSack
@GameSack 3 года назад
This is a comparison, Product A vs Product B. It's nice to know how they feel about the sound quality when comparing the two. Specs on a sheet of paper only tell some of the story. If you need an analyzer from Audio Precision (specifically, I guess) to tell the difference, then your ears won't notice anyway.
@kman9387

@@therealshanelee I agree, since audio is extremely subjective for all. Most may not like the sound of a perfect sound system that has been measured vs something that sounds good to your ears 👍😁
@ebarbie5016
@ebarbie5016 3 года назад
@@therealshanelee Listening is actually stupid. Human ears are the worst instrument you could find because of many psychological and psychoacoustic factors. You need a true double blind test, which you must repeat at least 10 times to be able to make a decision which gear sound best. If it measure well, it should sound well. I suggest you do some reading at ASR forum, you could learn something, before making meaningless comments about "open", "dry", "warm" sound, which are purely subjective and non scientific. Start by reading a professional review of the M33: www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/nad-m33-streaming-amplifier-review.17302/ And here is one for the Denon: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IVbbuV8xQBg.html
