Denon AVR S730H Receiver goes into "Protect Mode" aka Red Blinking Light, whenever the Surround Sound system, including Zone 2, becomes active.
I hope these simple ideas will help fix your unit before firing up both the soldering iron and frustration.

Thanks for this advice! I had similar problems with an AVX-1000 (decoding of audio signal was not working, just displaying „Stereo“, thus no sound at all). After opening and soft cleaning everything worked well again!

Denon 3700H Speaker Protection Mode activated (the audio equivalent of a computer BSD.) After pulling out what hair I have left trying to troubleshoot the problem over the weekend I called Denon and got a great customer service rep and we tested each speaker one at a time and the problem was not the Denon, but an SVS Elevation speaker. What a relief.

From Mikem. The problem was not the SVS speaker but a bad banana speaker connection to the speaker. Speaker now works fine.

I have a denon avr3600h and the preout ports seem a little loose. Is this normal? If not is it an easy fix or do I need to take it to a repair shop? Thank you for any information

I can't get any sound out of avr-3803 receiver. I know if I have it setup correctly, the person I bought it from 1/02/21 said it works but can't find the problem.

Hello there, I have a Denon AVR-3000 that seems to be malfunctioning. When turned on and set to any input the audio coming out to the speakers is extremely low and distorted even when I turn it up. This is from main speaker pair A ports... unfortunately I just bought it two days ago and received no owners manual. I hope its not a major issue... please advise! Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, It could be a few things so I'll give you a couple ideas: 1. Super easy, make sure it isn't simply a setting that has been enabled / disabled. If one zone has appropriate volume and the other does not, that will be a clue to your problem as well... 2. Check voltages across your power board 3. Test your output transistors 4. Look for blown capacitors Denon's aren't exactly fix-it-friendly, in fact, I have one now that I've been dragging my feet to fix (probably a voltage regulator?). Hopefully, I'll post that video later this year. Good luck, my friend, and thank you for stopping by my channel 🍀

Hi. I have denon avr-x1400h. I had 2 speakers and all worked fine until i bought 2 more and connected them to the surround L and R. And those 2 are not working. I tested them they work but no sound is coming out. When i press ‘info’ on remote controler in section (active speakers) i only see that are front speakers marked. I have tried all in speakers setting but nothing seems to work so i can put them to active. Any advice? Thank you

Hi Marko, remote diagnostics like this are difficult, but it sounds like an interface problem. These Denon receivers tend to lock into certain sound settings. I would start out by plugging in all the speakers (old and new) and then re-run the Audyssey Setup to see if that recognizes the new speakers. Let me know if that does the trick. The next step would probably be to restore the AVR factory settings. Good luck, my friend.

@Vestigial Voice Dear, please, I have the Denon AVR S720W for some months that I use and yesterday it was already on for a few hours, I had the following symptom! Suddenly turned off and the red light started flashing and to stop flashing I had to press the on / off button, I called again and in a few seconds the same thing happened. I found a video where the boy identified that it may be some disconnected box, however , I did this test and all my boxes are in perfect working condition. I waited for a while and called again I stayed about 25 minutes with it on and it didn't happen again, but it was too late and I went to sleep! Now I don't know if this was temporary or if it will happen again, has it happened to any of you from the comments here? What did you do to resolve this? Thanks!!
@VestigialVoice
@VestigialVoice 3 года назад
Gilson, if it is working, don't do anything except enjoy your receiver. I recently was given another to fix, same blinking red light, but I have a feeling it is the voltage regulator. Stay tuned. If it turns out, I'll post the video in the future. Thank you for checking out my channel 😎

@@VestigialVoice Thank you very much for responding to my comment! Really you are right, because my case only presented problems that day after that no more, or that it could have been the socket misplaced and because I was short on cash I was not able to buy an energy conditioner until today and maybe there was a voltage variation due to energy received or it may also have been heating because the symptom is described in the manual as heating !! I will wait for other videos that you publish on this issue !! Thanks!!

@tonifatec 3 года назад
@@gilsontavares9152 It looks like you've got an Overheat protection from your Denon after a couple of hours of usage. You better of puting some fans placed over your AVR blowing that hot air from inside away. Also make sure the receiver has enogh clearance all around it.

@@tonifatec Thank you very much for the tip, I saw that it really could have been that too, in the practical manual they detail this, I will buy a fan yes to do this function! Thanks!

Hey My Rca 2360 reciver turns on after replacing the fuses.. But the display wont turn on.. Please i really need someone with more knowledge..
@VestigialVoice
@VestigialVoice 3 года назад
Hey Pete, Distance-troubleshooting is always difficult, but perhaps I can begin to point you in the right direction: 1. Did the display work up until the point the fuses blew? 2. Do the faceplate buttons still function?
@easypete975
@easypete975 3 года назад
@@VestigialVoice Faceplate buttons no longer work and the display worked up until it stopped working... Maybe it would help if i told you how it broke.. I was trying to blow a small speaker and the amp protect kept shutting my reciver off.. I kept turning it on over and over till it stopped working..
@VestigialVoice
@VestigialVoice 3 года назад
Heh he, I'm not going to ask WHY you did that, but it IS helpful diagnostic information. :) The good news is: You probably only blew one (or a couple electrical components). The bad news is: They could be in a variety of places and you'll have to hunt them down. First step, visually inspect for signs of scorching. If you're lucky, you'll find something (however it may not be visible). Replace those pieces. Second, if it were me, I'd hook up an external power supply to the faceplate and see if it turns on. This will help you isolate the location's site. Happy hunting, my friend 🤞😊🤞

How come there’s always some kind of issues with denon amplifier’s???
@VestigialVoice
@VestigialVoice 2 года назад
I love the sleek look and smooth sound of denon receivers, but I'm with you, they really should swap out a few of their cheap, lynch-pin components (and replace them with quality ones) if they hope to preserve a credible name in the home audio industry.

@@VestigialVoice at the begining there was almost no sound coming out, you can hardly hear sound, NOW sound is coming out with this buz and like a sine wave (UP and DOWN) and when i remove the cable the buz degradation start at the speaker and end by the relay on and off degradation as well
@VestigialVoice
@VestigialVoice 3 года назад
The oscillation, or "sine wave" as you describe it, points a guilty finger at the incoming power source. It may take some investigating to find out which component is the actual culprit though. I don't have a good idea of your experience on electronic work, but some common mistakes include: cold soldering, improper cleanup with isopropyl alcohol after electrolytic spillage or flux use, soldering the capacitor in reverse polarity (there should be a negative strip on the cap to match the negative on the PCB) to name a few. If, after replacing the caps and diode bridge, the performance was identical, perhaps you just replaced good parts with good parts and the actual problem lies further upstream. In that case, you'd beginning to check voltages around the transformer, but please be very careful when doing so. Good luck, Sherif. Something tells me that you have a decent shot at fixing this! I look forward to hearing about your progress. :)
