Podcast ( Part 2) on General Practice Residency and Advanced Education In General dentistry in the USA, with Dr. Mayank Kakkar with Dr. Suresh Shenvi on Aspire32. Dr. Mayank Kakkar currently a Post-doctoral dental resident at the Eastman Institute for the Oral Health at the University of
Rochester, NY, USA, pursuing a combined three years program which includes one year of fellowship in Complex care Center along with the two years of Advanced Education in General Dentistry(AEGD) residency. This podcast covered the process, duration, differences, expenses in detail.
The Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Postdoctoral Program is a 12-month certificate program with an optional second year. The AEGD program is open to US/Canadian and foreign-trained dentists. The General Practice Residency (GPR) is an intensive postgraduate training program fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The program is designed to train the general dentist in the management of medically complex and special-needs patients in both outpatient and hospital settings while increasing knowledge in the practice of dentistry and its various disciplines.
This video of Aspire 32 is made by Dr. Suresh Shenvi who has cleared various exams like ADAT, NBDE from the USA, DHA from Dubai, and various Indian Entrance exams like PGI, KCET, NEET. I am MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics by profession. I am also an author of dental books on the entrance exam and I am also currently a faculty at KLE University and a receiver of the best teacher award. He also has a private practice at Shenvi Dental Clinic and Specialty Root Canal Center, Belgaum, Karnataka.

Great video! Very genuine and informative. I would enjoy hearing more about where you can be licensed after GPR and AEGD. I have struggled to find that information on individual state licensing boards, and if you can help that would be really great. Hey, Thank you so much for the video. You, doctors, covered a wide range of information which is useful for many international dentists to pursue their dreams. I have a question that is mainly based on pursuing oral surgery after Aegd programs. I have learned from this video that Aegd program is a CERTIFICATE program, But to pursue oral surgery in the united states (4y or 6 yr program) you have to GRADUATE from a coda accredited program. By completing AEGD , Can I pursue oral surgery in the united states?

Yes but getting in to oral surgery is more difficult in USA

After completion 2 years of AEGD you have to work 3 more years in eligible state to get opportunity apply to other states, is those 3 years are included in 2 years of AEGD or no? And can i open private practice after completion AEGD or i have to work on someone/health center? Thank you!! Thank you

1)Those 3 years are not the part of the aegd. They are on top of the AEGD 2) Yes, you can practice your own office

Hello sir I am from Pakistan nd I wanted to ask that my Gpa is 3 is this enough to get accepted into a dental school in USA or to apply in AEGD programs which things i should consider to work on my profile ..? Becoz everyone says that dds is better option , there is too much competition in residency program and chances r less for international students

Respected sir Myself Dr.Jonty Narula BDS India I want to work and settle in Europe I am searching from last 2 3 month that which country is suitable for me. Because masters in dentistry ,I can't do because it's out of my budget. Will you please suggest me any other course to work and settle in europe.like MPH MAH MSc .
