Whatever trains introduced, the travel time from Badulla to Colombo and the return journey take almost 9 hours. Still a long time. Canteen facilities must be improved. My first journey on the 6th of November started at 0720 hours and reached Colimbo at 1630 hours. Travelled almost with empty stomach. With the same prise, a superliner bus takes only 6 hours.
I was first tourist from India who travelled first day of this train and also I was present when launching ceremony of this train was happening at Colombo railway station, watch my video
vijaya fernando it’s a burden to the economy. SLR is running at loss, and the entire country should take that burden to their shoulders. Non of the British railway companies are owned by the government of another country. In fact they are privately run British companies under the agreements issued by Network Rail, which is the governing body of Rail transportation in United Kingdom and that is why those companies offers better services to the passengers. What do we have here in our trains? Speed? Online reservations? Innovative ideas? Comfort? Reliability? On time performance? Nothing. All we have is a collection of engines which are more than 50 years old, absolutely zero passenger comfort and services, and constant delays and cancellations, railway tracks where the derailments have become a nothing to worry its just routine, Victorian era tracks where the nationwide average speed is 40kmh and an extremely inefficient crew who are always after a reason to do the next strike. UK trains are far better and we should follow them too
