I just watched this a second time after making my reply. It's definitely more awkward than the first time, and imo Denzel is struggling to stay afloat in the Hollywood factory bubble in this particular instance. It's sad- like watching one of the few remaining lions of Africa having to make friends with the hyenas 😞

Most people just give Guillermo a hi and a wave and that’s cool but Denzel stood and gave Guillermo a proper greeting and a handshake. And this piece is way longer than normal talk show interviews. Denzel Washington is excellence and deserves it.

First movie was Carbon Copy in 1980. I think Charles Grodin was in it. P.S. It was George Segal who was on The Goldbergs. Also had Susan Saint James and Jack Warden. My favorite film was Devil In a Blue Dress. Came three years after The Pelican Brief and Malcolm X.

Stephen Colbert once briefly mentioned the film to Denzel in reference to how many Shakespearean projects he’d worked on, and Denzel quickly interrupted him just to make sure everyone knew Keanu was in that movie with him. Class acts all the way. They’re both a couple of real ones.

Here i am with grandparents in their late 80's who have dementia and Alzheimers. Meanwhile, this amazing woman is 91, sharp as a knife with pearly white teeth having full on detailed memories and laughs with Denzel.....She is blessed!

There are so many life lessons in there but it’s still a challenge and hard to watch family fade into dementia. Playing songs for them their youth can often brighten their day and take them back in their memories. Hang in there. 💜

Forget god and all that.. a son's love to his mother and imminent regret for lost time smelt arrogant men into men of class and humbleness. Sad it takes a mother dying to make people wake up. Can't teach the preciousness of life otherwise though..

I remember being a little girl in Trenton NJ and seeing cut-outs of Denzel in the local libraries and Boys & Girls Clubs. His greeting at the door was always warm and strong. Didn’t know what it meant until years later when I saw him in a Spike movie that it was a promo but knew it was the most genuine marketing campaign I ever experienced. Thank you Mr. Washington!🥰

I met him in Cape Town, he gave me a kiss on the cheek after I realised his double. I pulled over at next petrol station to brag to my friends none believed me till today but I know Mr Denzel shook my hand & kissed me on the cheek after I told him I was one of his biggest fans. @@denzelwashington1873 Man on Fire was such a well played and believable character with a story line that pierced through the toughest heart. Training Day was acting perfection. The Book of Eli was a profound script but was hard to believe someone could memorize an entire novel, but somehow you made people believe it could happen. American Gangster would probably be your most valued character to the critics and culture. You were most effective in Malcolm X . I can’t pick favorites very well out of all that talented work. You demonstrated human emotions can be conveyed in make believe that can be perceived as real life happenings.
