This song holds a special place in my heart from my teenage years. Another favorite version of this song is by Marsheaux ;) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V_k_VWQ6xmg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ESFuwiyhQZ0.html
mickyday2008 wow I’m just watching this performance for the first time after looking up Leave In Silence which was played here also. That’s so cool you both were there. I’m 25 and into the modern electronic scene and really appreciate Depeche Mode for their influence on electronic music. They’re my dads favorite band so I grew up on them. This performance was absolutely incredible, I was just thinking about how awesome it was for people who were at this show and then see this comment and how new it is is just cool ;).
@@piscesempress1978 It's the intro that makes this version better, and it wasn't Alan who made it. Alan wouldn't become the important piece he was known for until 1984-86. He wasn't even part of the band in 1982.
Dave’s vocal range - the fact that he can hit those high notes, too - is also something to admire, apart from his epic dance moves. And that part where he and Alan sing together, almost like a call and response of sorts… Ufff. It gives me chills!
I was born a little bit after this...I hated depeche and all 80s music in the early 90s... Once I had an actual ear for good music, I dove straight in. Now I watch videos like this. Wishing I were old enough to reminisce about the good ol days :D
Dave right into it with that voice; Fletch looking out of place as usual; Alan with his extraordinarily long fingers and Martin, the genius, with the bum fluff on his chin that gave him such magical musical powers!
Thank god someone was paying attention to Alan's magnificent hands. I'm torn between him and David at this point. Baby Dave is so cute. He had moves even back then. Cheeky cheeky boy.
I listened to their first two albums in their entirety years ago and out of all of the songs this was the one that stood out for me, and then this version is even better, love it
Everybody criticizes Fletch, but he makes those sic bass sounds with his keyboards that make this song so awesome too. all of them are awesome, and of course I miss Alan
Actually, Fletch was an important member for quite a time. Especially in times of 83-86, but in MFTM with sound of DM being less industrial, his role began to fade.
Hate to break it to you but the bass on almost all their tracks was preprogrammed with the drums. Not putting the dude down by any stretch, but Fletch has even admitted his strengths were strictly on a managerial level.
I loved Depeche Mode in the 80's. Gahan was so baby faced and sweet looking back then. The 80's was the best decade to be in your 20's, the music was just incredible. 🥳🎉🎈👯🍾🎈
I think A Broken Frame at the time of 1982 was an excellent album for the band doing something fresh and having Alan wilder as a new mate to further move the band towards unparalleled success. The songs are great even the ones that are instrumental’s and I still enjoy listening to it till this day in the year of 2022.
This was television, at a time when you would see amazing band like Depeche Mode. I miss those good times. Thank to DMLive4you to bring them back. Cheers from Canada.
I couldn’t wait to set my VCR on every Much Music Labatt Blue Spotlight on DM back in the 80’s, to record all their vids. 30 years later, come to find out there were so many promos videos of their old stuff, that never made the journey to Canada!!!
This was clearly the best, non commercial band of 80s. Ahead of their time, yet painted into a genre of music. We are lucky who got to hear them. I feel sorry for the poor suckers who were brought up on the current audible refuse erroneously called "music"..
Best version. Great footage. What a great band!! They play “simple” lines on their synths but they do play!!! I’met DM music on 1986 I was12 years old, and since then they occupy a place in my heart
in my early teens...no internet, and nothing more digital than Depeche Mode. These songs where on a backside of three maxi singles who had different colours, blue, green an yellow.. where did the time go...loving the memorys..
more than 30 years ago, a friend of mine bought this blue EP with exactly that version. And i am still listen to it. One of the best depeche mode songs ever. the beginning of that tune is magic, could be an opener for todays concerts.
I love this era for it's rawness. It's live analog synth and you can even see Fletch actually playing. Unfortunately he hasn't kept up with his skills being busy in the management department (
It's just so different ...without the magic from Alan Wilder. After he left....DM music has lost certain vibes that defines Depeche Mode. Alan, you are missed. Thank you, Alan the synth guru.
