In this video, I shared what I've noticed about dealing with depression as I have experienced it many times in my life. 今回の動画では人生の中で何度も鬱を経験してきた私が鬱に対して気付いた事をシェアしました。
Hikikomori = shut in
-----------------------------------------
Hello. My name is Hiroshi Yamazoe. I'm Japanese, born in 1984.
I was a "Hikikomori"("social withdrawal" or "shut-in") for about 10 years, but now I have recovered a little.
I love to travel abroad. Traveling abroad has changed my life as a Hikikomori. I have visited Western European countries, Asian countries, and Russia.
I will continue to travel abroad in the future.
Currently, I'm studying English. I'm struggling with it, but I will not give up!
And I'm seeking friends from all over the world. Thanks!

It's nice you got better enough to make a video, Hiro! Another tip I think is useful is to reach out and talk about your condition with other people, even if it's online. The feeling of isolation makes depression even worse. Thanks for the video!

Hi nefi. I think you're right. I have found that interacting with other people, even online, reduces loneliness and depression. I've had a lot of comments on this video, and that has helped me feel less lonely. I am very grateful to all of you. Thanks for the nice tip Nefi!

In thinking about the viciously cyclical nature of depression, it seems the way to break that cycle is the action of a motivation outside that cycle. I'm glad you have your motivation and are persevering :)
@HirosiYamazoe
@HirosiYamazoe 3 года назад
Hello BlueTravesty, Thanks for the comment! I think we all have motivation to break free from the vicious cycle of depression. Because being depressed itself is a painful thing, and we want to escape from it. So I think we can use that as a starting point to start doing something to escape from depression.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I have struggled with depression as well at times and I think your advice will help some of your viewers who are feeling the same way. Like you mentioned in point 3, sometimes I think of it like a bad flu - it feels terrible but I know I can’t do much other than try to take care of myself and wait for it to pass. I hope you begin to feel better soon… maybe making this video has helped you as well.

I agree Hiroshi, that staying active helps to prevent the mind from cycling downwards into that familiar cycle of depression or low moods - self hatred, blame, shame, etc. I like travelling and hiking. Walking, even when I don't feel like it, and hiking, until I'm so tired I can't think anymore... ;) That works! But, in the depth of my depresson I couldn't do it. I had to go through the depression, and it wasn't until I was older and stronger that I found a way of really banishing it for good. That was literally deciding NOT to give into the negative emotions anymore. I told myself very strongly (with conviction) that I DID NOT want to feel this way anymore. (Suffering because of my OWN mind is crazy and self inflicted. And I vowed to myself to take control of these thoughts and to start being nice to myself!) (Just like quitting smoking - sometimes I slip back into negativity, beacuse I'm addicted to these thoughts... I guess when you've thought them your entire life the neural pathways are strong. But they CAN be overcome!) If they arise, and I feel the negative self-talk slipping in, I ask myself if this thought is in my best interest. (It never is). Then I say aloud, "I'm not going to suffer because of my own (negative) mind. I REFUSE to suffer because of my own negaive mind! I am in control of my thoughts and and I will not go there anymore!" Then, I say a prayer. I ask a loving deity like Krshna or Christ or Kwan Yin or God - literally asking the loving being (out loud) to be with me, to aid me, to help me in overcoming these negative emotions. Tell the being that you wish to receive their help in receiving peace and calm thoughts. Asking aloud for help was the best thing I did, and helped me long term. (I literally felt Jesus's love for 3 days after this, and I was an atheist! It really helped me alot.) Please try it next time you feel low, Hiroshi! I'm now much stronger at defeating the spiral of thoughts. So much so, that they hardly pop up at all now, and if they do, I can BANISH them, all because I decided to take control of my mind - which after all should be a tool that helps us, not hinder us. Have an awesome day Hiroshi!
@HirosiYamazoe
@HirosiYamazoe 3 года назад
Hi kim, thanks for your comment! I think you have a very strong spirit. You have succeeded in banishing depression with the power of your mind. I think that's awesome! As I said in this video, I think it's important to be active to cure depression. Exercise, travel, eat, create, work.... But there are times when I just can't get started it, even though I know it will help reduce my depression. In such cases, I think I need a mental breakthrough method like yours. 👍
@HannoverDaz
@HannoverDaz 3 года назад
You can do it@@HirosiYamazoe I believe in you, and I believe that you are stronger than you think! 🔥 Next time you feel low, ask a compassionate being to help you overcome it. Ask them to come to your aid. Remember my words, and you will find your own strength. Please try it. We are not prisoners to our mind. Our minds are a tool, and WE are in charge of them... We just have to remember it and use our intellect instead of our emotion. And like any good spiritual battle call in a higher power to aid you. They will help, I promise! You've got this. 💪👏🌟 "I no longer want to feel like this. There is no reason for me to feel this! I am a good person and I deserve to feel good! From this moment on, I'm calling on (insert deity) to help me. (Deity - insert name.) Please help me find peace in my mind. I invite you into my life to be with me, watch over me, and help me overcome that which brings me down. I want to feel happy. I want to feel joy. And I no longer want to pay any attention to this (negative emotion/worry/depression/etc) in my mind. That's the only place that it exists - within my mind. No where else! My mind is mine. I am in control of it and I no longer want to feel it. I no longer want to give it attention. I will not feed it! I want to feel happy, free, light. I want to be my best self. I can do this because I am strong, and I have the help of (deity) standing with me, helping me. With this help I can overcome all negative emotions. I can banish all negative energies, beings, entities or thoughts. I am loved by (my deity) and I love myself." 🙏🌟🎐

Hello Eyuel, You are welcome! I have mainly worked in factories. Such as working in logistics at an automotive manufacturing facility. I used to work as a caregiver, but it was not for me, so I quit. I am not very good at working for people. That's why I did mainly work in factories that mainly deal with things.

This is a hard one but after years of struggle one eventually finds a way of managing it and it is a learning experience that so many others wouldn't hold a candle to. What gets me is the pain factor coupled with not belonging to this world while being surrounded by people who are to current society like ducks are to water with little to no effort being able to go through everything that life throws at them without as much as thinking about it.
@HirosiYamazoe
@HirosiYamazoe 3 года назад
Hello MrKillswitch88, I think it is certainly true that overcoming a severe depression and other difficult situations can be an important lesson. And I can relate to your point. It seems to me that a lot of people have been too privileged to have good parents, good schooling, and other things. But I think they are very vulnerable to even a little bit of pain because they haven't had much of pain in their lives. For example, an elite who has never failed will be seriously damaged if they fail, and a rich person will have a very hard time if they become poor. But if the person is not elite or not rich in the first place, he will not be damaged by it.
@MrKillswitch88

@@HirosiYamazoe True and there are loads of them in the US that basically can't even look at their real selves in the mirror much less any pain others live with day to day. I can live with my own but to see so many other people not get much of a chance in life makes my blood boil especially when there is a system in place that keeps people down while benefiting the privileged. Had the system hadn't been so crappy it would be somewhat ok for a lot more people while limiting some of the extremes.

Hikikomori and other sensitive people can benefit from everything that helps them "grounding" because they're Light beings. Walking, exercise (it can be anything you like: fitness, sport, yoga etc.), you can never go wrong with those. Meditation can help a lot too because by meditating you're just Being, you're not running away from yourself anymore. Depression is also a reaction of your body to release traumas and sometimes even "soul healing". The human body is made to heal itself from any trauma. This is what emotions are all about. The body telling you to relax and accept where you are right now. Hiroshi and everyone who reads this, I just want to tell you: You are enough and I send you my blessings 🙏 ❤️ 🌍

@HirosiYamazoe
@HirosiYamazoe 3 года назад
Hello thanks for the great insight Balboa, 👍 Maybe you're right, maybe depression is a necessary process for humans. When we get depressed, people try to fix it as soon as possible. Psychiatry tries to force it to stop with the power of chemical drugs. But maybe that's wrong. Depression is painful, but it has the power to change the behavior of people who are stuck in a same pattern. Perhaps depression refreshes us and allows us to start again. And that could be called a healing effect.

Is the Ego of the Hikikomori who is depressed for not fitting in the society. The key to overcome depression once for all is practice meditation and spiritual enlightenment. No more negative thoughts.

Hello El Axel. People in the West talk often about meditation and spiritual enlightenment. I think many of us have forgotten about this wisdom, even though it is essentially Eastern wisdom. I would like to learn more about meditation and spiritual enlightenment. So I plan to travel and visit spiritual places when this virus crisis is over.
@Tmhjr_Baskar
@Tmhjr_Baskar 3 года назад
Meh, me and meditation don't go well together. Being around silence is painful for me. Silence tends to make it too easy to focus on the ringing of tinnitus which in turn gives me a hell of a migraine. As for spiritual enlightenment, am a devout Christian. And whomever says that christians don't get depression is way off base. We get disorders just like everyone else. By ego, do you mean self confidence and the sort? If so, I know quite a few hiki's like myself who are like me, having so self confidence whatsoever. Hard to find any when you're so down low there is no light any more.

Medication for depression has personally never helped me either and I believe these types of medications are actually bad for me. Some things that have helped me feel better though are becoming vegetarian (I don’t eat meats and limit my dairy consumption) and minimalism (letting go of excessive possessions). I hope you get back to feeling good again soon Hiroshi!

Hello! I also suffered from antidepressants because of the side effects and they did not bring good results. It seems that many people feel that way. Cool. Vegetarian and minimalist. I think it's a very nice combination. No harm to animals, no overspending of resources. I think it's a very nice way to live. By the way, once this viral crisis is over, I will travel to the world with the minimum amount of luggage. I think this is a kind of minimalist. And I'm going to post that daily life on RU-vid. 🙂

@@HirosiYamazoe Lots of people feel like us about these meds because they are not natural and are making people sick. They are being given to people because Big Pharma is taking advantage of people's suffering and and profiting off of it. In reality eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, helping out others and showing love to others are things that will actually make us feel better! And yes, it's nice to know that animals aren't suffering so that I can live one more day. It's also a good feeling when I can let go of possessions that I no longer have any use for instead of letting them take up space where I live forever. It will be nice to see videos of your world travels once the pandemic ends someday. I know how much you like to travel and hope you can get back to doing that soon!
