"One big problem that we, who has mental health issues, face is other people not believing our problems. There were some few kids who, whenever they saw me, would run to their parents and impersonate me. For them, it was a funny thing, even their parents laughed. Their kids doing a drama of my actions was an interesting thing for the parents. But as they were doing it right in front of me, I did not find it even a little bit funny"
said Strela Thounaojam Luwang (18yrs) who won Miss Manipur crown at a very young age 16.
What most people know of Strela is her modelling career but she has that other side also no one has seen before. At a very young age, she had struggles against depression. She was later diagnosed with Epilepsy. She had her education through home schooling till class 6. She addressed the need of a child friendly education in schools. Though aggressive actions by the school can make students obedient, it also have the chance to create trauma in some students who aren't capable of handling the pressure. She also wants them to treat those with mental health issues like anyone else not more or not less like they believe us.
