The guitar is just fabulous and part of the reason, I believe, why Philippe is so intense in his singing. I was there at the recording, one of the best shoot I did for CBC in 25 years.
wow. that pronunciation is perfect. here as a german who loves this schubert song. thats an awesome performance. also big credits to adam. he brings the setup needed for philippe to do his part. both together... awesome!
Der Leiermann is the one song in Winterreise that I find the most haunting and Sly does it justice and I agree with the writer below he should do the whole cycle. A great voice and superb artisry.
I just discovered you Philippe! You're so amazing. I'm studying countertenor and I'm also a pop singer and while listening to your voice, I can feel what you're doing in my throat because your voice is so expressive and true. So beautiful! Thank you!
Some time ago I heard a transcription of this piece for harp and shakuhachi which I found captivating, so much so that I started looking for other versions of the song and given that I attempt to play classical guitar I came across this version. Its fantastic. I like the arrangement, especially the lowering of the guitar part to provide more of a bass which would normally be provided by the piano. Very well done.
This is lovely! The guitar brings out some things in that it is a solo instrument too, and often used in busking ... one can imagine the transposition working, and indeed in many busy places, an old guitarist undergoes this sad fate ... well done!
Voix intense bien équilibrée rendant ce lied harmonieux. Diction parfaite.
Very enjoyable singing and playing, but I found myself slightly distracted wondering how the motion was achieved. What were they on? Were they being pushed? Pulled? Driven? I've watched a couple of these "moving" performances and there's no explanation in the descriptions.
