I've seen that crane sitting at Loughborough for ages thinking it looks too dilapidated to run. This proved me wrong. The fact they had to steam up a crane was quite awesome.

The driver was authorised by the signalman to move so he's at fault too and I doubt they'd have been removed from duty for very long they'd do more training with them.

The derailment video by someone else looked bad, anyone know the cause & why the derail device was not changed into proper allignment..??? On this side of the pond, there would have been a government investigation as to the cause.!

The Fat Controller came to see him. "The derailment was not your fault, 46521," he said kindly. "The signalman should have checked those track points. We'll have you back on the rails in no time." "Thank you, Sir." said 46521. But he still felt very foolish.

The mishap has been shown on other RU-vid channels. Being a train engineer I wonder what clearance did the unfortunate driver have? Who signaled the driver to move? Somebody or nobody? Poor discipline somewhere in the organisation.
@highdownmartin
@highdownmartin Год назад
Signalman couldn’t pull the dummy ( ground signal) so authorised the driver to pass it at danger. The reason the signal wouldn’t move was because he hadn’t pulled the points first. ( interlocking). The driver took the authority to pass that ground signal but DIDNT check the road was set to leave the siding. Neither did the fireman. So blame predominately with signalman but driver at fault too.
@Stefan_Boerjesson
@Stefan_Boerjesson Год назад
@@highdownmartin Thank You for telling. I get the picture. Human error, not discovered by loco personal. Personally I only trust my eyes watching the tracks. One, not alert, station master forgot preparing 2 unguarded switches and locking them. Of corse they were not pointing my way.... My eyes saved us from embarrassment.. We had a mishap once. During shunting the shunt guy signalled "Backwards" to the steam loco. They stood too close to the red track lock/track barrier, could not see it and derailed one axle of the tender..... No chance for the driver/fireman......

Having seen this happen in another video, I really don't understand why they ran through the catch points?
@welshpete12
@welshpete12 9 лет назад
+MikesMovies For some reason I do not know, they passed the signal at danger . The catch point ahead of it would be open to protect the running line . When the signalman set the route, the catch points would have been closed automatically . Making it safe to move off when the signal lowered .
@jacobjohnston1218
