No- I think he knew the rules it just didn't make to keep pulling for a restart. When he just needed 1 more win.

@@Wade-22 Based on PAL rules it was a foul, but I believe it to be bullshit. I agree with the take they have at EvW: small bumps on the pad + without position gain, should not be a foul, hence (imo) it was BS.

@@44percentstronger It wasn't really a bump in a middle of the table hook war though. It was a bump while Derek was pinning so it could be argued that advantage was gained and he needed that little bit of power to finish it.

@@derbycityarmwrestling7300 What I understand under "advantage gain" is that there is a position change while the elbow is not on the pad. Also, when you are pinning your opponent (i.e. your forearm is more parallel to the table your elbow tip can't touch the pad because the meaty part of your forearm prevents you from that. That "meaty part" of your forearm is more difficult to mantain on the pad because of the force direction, so more reason to be more leanient to such bumps.

Lachlan is big time.

I think Lachlan is underrated even though he has lost a lot to some really good guys. But also, one tidbit about that match is that, when Austin won the Arnold's he was 309 lbs. When Austin faced Lachlan he had dropped down to 285-290. Now, against Tim Bresnan and Derek he's back up to that 305-310 range. I'm not sure if it would have made a difference in the Lachlan match, but I think that extra 20 lbs does give him an extra kick.

Not so sure Derek is stronger than Austin. Derek was able to take Austin's hand the first two matches. As the match went on his hand/wrist looked like it tired out. Arm on arm Derek wasn't able to pin Austin.

I think your guys perspective of his level and the level of his competition is wildly off. Losing to Austin Jaggers doesn't mean Dereck sucks, you guys just see a giant and are shocked he's not objectively the best in NA. Life isn't that simple, a long arm can be a real disadvantage at times, especially when your back pressure and rise get tapped, then you have almost nothing to stop an inside press like what Jaggers was doing in the later rounds, other than pure bicep. Best to not project ones own defeatist mentality onto others who actually lay it on the line
