Numerical aperture
Can be defined as "SINE of the acceptance angle", it gives the light gathering capacity of the optical fibre.
Acceptance angle
The maximum angle made by the light Ray at the "air - fibre" interface, below which the light can suffer total internal reflection, and when falls exactly at Acceptance angle, the light Ray traverses along the "core - cladding" interface.

In the denominator, Square root of n1 square = n1. This is cancelled with numerator n1. Kindly watch video at 5.26 min.
