1st case, in high power I got it.😢 Before immuno, 2nd case spindle cell melanoma with heterologous cartilage and osteoid bone formation, didn't recognise schwannoma at all in low power 😢, preferred tufted angioma, calcifying aponeurotic fibroma in low power 🎉,next slide is botfly diagnosed in transcripts.😂 Thanks Sir. I don't think anyone diagnoses spindle cell melanoma in H&E except if you have in-situ component or abundant pigmentation. That's why we always use a Cytokeratine and Sox10/S100 on these lesions before even looking too much at it.
I have a 67 year old friend who is in very good shape for his age,he works at the convenience store that I work at part time,I have noticed off and on for the last few months he has been grabbing and holding his left side near the bottom of his rib cage,I asked him about it on Thursday and asked him to pull up his shirt and let me see, he has a lump the size of an egg at the base of his ribs and a lesion that looks like a dark weird looking scab on top of it,You think it could possibly be serious???
A new or changing lump/bump/mass should be examined by a physician to determine if it is worrisome or not and if it needs to be biopsied or not. There are many different things (both benign and malignant) that could cause a mass like you described. The only way to know the diagnosis with certainty is to have a biopsy performed so it can be examined by a pathologist. Please have your friend see his dermatologist to have it looked at as soon as possible. Best wishes.
