The greatest trick he ever played was making his audience think anyone signed contracts. They are all actors. And those ear pieces and cameras is how he does his magic tricks. Hidden cameras and hidden earpiece. Americans are not dumb enough to fall for this we have real magicians here in America.
M- Nice - so you think he can afford to pay hundreds of actors full time wage to “act” like normal people... when we could just get normal people for free? Seems legit to me 😂
@@MrThe1234guy You're an idiot lol. It's all explained as to how he does it. There's no 'magic' or mystery to suggest it's faked or acted. It's just elaborate, very cleverly planned, and carefully executed. Get back to your 'magic' David Blaine videos if this is too difficult for you to get your American head around.
i understand why people are saying its fake, it seems very fake to anyone fully awake. but as someone who was hypnotized once, you need to understand how it works. you dont question anything, you just go along with everything. the way to explain it is, do you ever remember dreams where one minute youre in a forrest then it totally changes and youre on a beach or some other totally different place and your mind doesnt even question it while youre in the dream? you just dont ever question dreams while you are in them, you just go along with the dream.
How can somebody simply stand at the side of someone for a second. Touch them lightly, say a few words and have them under complete control. It defies logic.
@@jtaylor9562 It's a trigger world basically. If hypnotised long enough in a sitting or by a talneted hypnotist, they can seed a trigger word or phrase into your head that'd put you into trance.
@@theimpressionist1445 Actually, what i think is going on, which, still is stupid. Is, with hidden cameras they zoom in slightly and put in a slight shaking effect. 29:19 for example, the face shot was done with that camera hidden under the TV, i guess he never questioned why there is this round thing because, mos tpeople dont notice cameras even if they are that big due to how common they are everywhere.
When my mates did it to me I broke into my neighbours and stole all their food for supplies, got 2 years for burglary, ah those were the days, the boys sure got me with that one 😂😂👍🇦🇺🍻
Derren has said himself that the guy after this turned his life around and found this a hugely positive experience. He has also stayed in touch with him closely since the show.
I loved Apocalypse. But when the guy was in ambulance with the little girl, 2 bottles of water miraculously disappeared on the floor during what was meant to be a live performance. Now I know the whole show is fake and now think that about all your shows. What a Con man!
Craig Schulze If you watch that shot again, you’ll see it’s a simple camera change. Meaning that shots from a different point in time. You hear him say sit there and closes the van door. Plus the fact they are both looking at the floor not reacting kinda shows that it was from a different point in timw
@@cestraig ah yes, because the end of the world 3 years ago definitely happened and it definitely wasn't staged at all. OF COURSE ITS FUCKING FAKE YOU IDIOT. This guy was hypnotised so he would think it wasn't.

DERREN BROWN METHODS: traditional magic/conjuring techniques, memory techniques, hypnosis, body language reading, cognitive psychology, cold reading, and psychological, subliminal perception without awareness, and ideomotor suggestion. pseudoscience neuro-linguistic programming and PAID ACTORS.
Craig Schulze that water was rolling around. How in the hell did you come to the conclusion that there are multiple redos? 🤦🏼♀️ Go with the answer that is the simplest solution. The bottles roll.
Everyone was slagging him off, but when confronted with some crazy apocalypse and barely getting information from a little girl he takes a few seconds to think and immediately tells her to come with him, takes her hand and tells her they will go get help.
A contract made it legal. During the vetting process he was probably asked to sign a contract that, basically put, says that Derren can do these things to him. The contract would probably state that the signatory would be assessed by medical proffessionals throughout any potential activities to assure their safety, mentally and physically. Once that contract is signed, he can do those things. It is perferctly legal.
It's these kind of people who've been toying with the world for centuries (now with added tech) that need their lives toyed with and see how they like it. They'd probably never fuck people over again, sickos.
when he said "come with me: we'll try and find our way out come with me" when he started taking responsibility for leona I teared up ngl. oooooh sneaky sneaky
The Mystery Gamer remember the person on TV said that you shouldn't touch them at all costs. The crew probably removed all pipes from the area to avoid that
Diabolically brilliant. I have such a high level of respect for Derren’s skills and projects. Or... did he put that in my head and want me to feel that way. You scary Derren... you scary.
this ain't fake Derren Brown is a mentalist and professional magician. In this show he is just trying to prove how you can manipulate someone so that they can appreciate life a little more
None of this is real, obviously, but if you look closely, none of his other shows are, either. He does this retarded 'go to sleep' thing that's just a complete joke. He uses psychology more to manipulate the viewer than his actual subject.
They say it's real. Come on. The reactions of the guy (Steven) don't seem real. And you have to wonder, how can he be so stupid? Which is more likely: a) the world is ending from a meteor strike, b) he just went to an audition with Derren Brown and could that have something to do with it? Does he not see TV, newspapers, web sites, people, etc. who are not "in on it?" Nigga, pleez. The real game here is not convincing a man the apocalypse is here. It's convincing the public that they convinced a guy that the apocalypse is here. Magicians like the big stage like that. YOU are the mark.
It's so weird/annoying to know people (especially where I live) exist and won't have the chance to experience something like this.... It would help so many people honestly. Derren, you are amazing.
Even if this is fake (hypnosis is kind of ‘iffy’ on the scale of what’s real), the idea of this as a whole is really cool. It’s even doable without hypnosis. Although this does remind me of a black mirror episode.
Derren would make an AMAZING dad. He would be soooo good at teaching his kids ways to cope and talk them through all sorts of things that most people can't understand, psychological processes etc. So cool.
@@idfsg533 the media can change your opinions on a daily basis. It's deadly, then it's not that bad, wear masks then wear a mask. And now truly no one has any idea. Disorient people enough and they'll conform out of fear or simply social pressure. Again, no one knows what to believe or do
They had psychologists and stuff watching him during it so that wouldn't happen and they tested him beforehand to make sure he was mentally prepared for it.
Psychological tests cannot be 100% just because human nature is kind of random. But they had constant watch on him 24/7, and someone always very close by. Suicide is very rarely a fast act. Even if someone 100% wants to kill themselves, it takes time to work up to it. Your body innately tells you not to do somehting to hurt yourself, for instance you can actually bite down hard enough to break your teeth, but your brain stops you from doing it. It takes a lot of determination to puposfully cut yourself.
I can't watch this episode without bursting into tears, especially at an important moment in episode two. I found this one profoundly moving; probably my favourite of all the specials.
I absolutely adore Derren Brown and I've been watching him since he first aired on television, several years ago. I've got all his books and he pushed my love for psychology, but I just can't wrap my head around the "sleep" part of these shows. I can understand it on a stage in front of an audience, the pressure and panic alone is enough to even convince yourself that you're being hypnotised to sleep, or to at least play along with or without realising, but when it happens in situations like this I can't help but smell something funny! I'm really hoping that in 30 years my "idol" won't be revealing some great joke like certain things were staged - for the "illusion of reality" and to push the idea that it's to do with psychology if he were lying/faking it all this time. Bit of a different area, but FrankieIn1080P - a "gamer/video maker" has millions of subscribers and I have been in some of his videos - playing a role, an actor, and in Frankies own words he says just that - it isn't "fake" it's the "illusion of reality" - it's to "make a real plausible situation real", even he believed what he was doing wasn't scripted or fake, and totally started to believe it himself. Either way, I continue to love my Derren bear, I just can't shake off the feeling that the guy either 1, knew what was going on sub/consciously. 2, is just an actor (The bad acting makes it more believable surely though, why get a bad actor?) or 3, Derren is just a genius in his field. Most plausible seems 2, the devils advocate in me says 1, and the love/passion for Derren says 3. I hope 3. .. Weird rant over.
BobbyRice2 i thought this "sleep" moment worked because of the audition tests where he learns to sleep when told to. But also it could just be that snap induction thing. Dude's so scared his body can respond to that command. Ill have to read up more on hypnosis aha.
BobbyRice2 theres no harm in option 1 being true at the start. And all tge poeople on the bus seemed too quiet when the news report played and the asteroids fell. Id be screaming and trying to talk to everyone but ive never been in such a situation... And i get what you mean about the worrying idea of derren revealed as a big liar. Even if its tried to be played off as the best illusion of all is that all of this his work is fake. Again i think ill have to read up on just about everything he mentions hes doing and see how scientific it all is. Its fun nevertheless.
Pretty sure the stuff we see is not every psychological technique Derren used on this guy. It is not that hard to program a guy to go to hypnosis mode on a certain queue.
Exactly. It's not that hard to do it. That's exactly what certain people believe and know to be true when "faking" things. It's not "THAT" hard to do it - so why bother going through with all the work and potential for problems/errors to occur, why not just get an actor? It's not like we're lying, because it's not that hard to do it in the first place - we know we can, so we're not eexactly lying. Just being devils advocate in a childish way. If you are a true fan of Derren, or a reasonable person in general, you cannot just sit and blindly say that it is all 100% what you imagine it to be. Derren constantly expresses the idea of things not being what they seem, and that is magic/illusions in a nutshell for you. To deceive is to usually use the easiest method, and allow the audience to over complicate it themselves. And lest not forget; magic and illusions, this whole area is all about deception. Derren states in his book and in interviews that people that take up magic are essentially just not very exciting people, they're making up for it, and it's the "easiest" way to impress people when you don't feel impressive yourself. What's a step before that, might we ask? - well, just blatantly lying to people. You know the people, the ones that come up with crazy stories or have para glided down mountains whilst firing machine guns and holding on to a goat - those people. The origin of all of this, and Derren to an extent, is lying and deception. Not sure if my age is the cause, but I think it's part of why my worries are surfacing! Derren is like my messiah, but the world is a fickle place!
BobbyRice2 Why not get an actor... Hmm. Because that would be dishonest, potentially jeopardize your whole career and in general go against all the motives of what you are doing in general? Other than that, well, why not.
The captions can be hilarious! I love the way it says "Applause" when they meet the first infected guy who's screaming as they tap on the glass! "Arrrrgh! Aaaaaahhh! Aaaarrrrhhh" [APPLAUSE] !!! XoD LoL!!!
I've only watched three of your videos, and I'm already subscribing, because from the looks of it you're channel is based around social experiments that teach people to be a better person. I watched your knife stomping video, your zombie shooting arcade experiment, and this one. I have to say you're a very creative person and I love what you do and the best part is you do all this and you make sure that the participants are as safe as possible
He damn lucky I wasn’t in it. I’ve watched every zombie show and film ever made. I’m ready for the zombie apocalypse.. probably would’ve started killing the cast lol
I'm reading his book happy and I really appreciate that Stoic philosophers like Epictetus and Seneca have been a major influence for him for such a long time. Really gives more credence to the book and Derren as an amateur philosopher.
Technically, only 8 or so hours for a natural sleep taking it's course. Either he may have not noticed, or thought someone took a care of his stubs during the 14 days he was convinced that transpired meanwhile.
SugarySlushieTM yeah I thought the same thing. Maybe because of the mind state he is in, he thinks it's real but I immediately would think this isn't a real situation. It certainly feels very staged.
Definitely stages. Just impossible to pull off genuinely. Surveillance and hacking are a violation of privacy. And their too many factors beyond the organiser's control. If you genuinely put someone into a situation like that, AND make them believe it. God knows what they would be capable of!!!
I’ve probs watched this a million times because it’s so amazing. I get so pulled in, that even tho I know it’s fake and I know what happens, I freak out when they do. Lmaoooo
Wow... This is genius... I sincerely really enjoyed this, well thought out. I got chills when he got on the bus and the 'meteors' crashed and when we saw some of the people on the road getting hurt, I honestly felt like crying haha. So intense.
It is absolutely amazing to me just how in depth these Derren Brown things are! Has anyone thought about just how much this wee shindig cost?!?! With that in mind, they would have to KNOW they would make money doing it! It is mind boggling!
All of the tricks have a certain level of fakeness to it. But you've got to think some people are actualy can be fooled into believing this, not the viewer the subject taking the test. If you have a not easily led person who is also very arrogant they won't fit the test because they'll immediately spot something's not "Real" about it. Some people react better to hypnotism than others.
His stilted movements when he frist woke up really reminded me of the footage of shell-shocked victims I've seen of the first World War. Amazing stuff.
This was so insanely engaging, and in this lie with in a lie with in a lie, I've not seen such truth and honesty often. I went from feeling sorry for him being "set up" for this, though I understand the motivations, to being genuinely touched and concerned for this young man. The look as he watches that first broadcast... may never leave me, lol.
@@Zach90888 I know that. I've watched a large crowd get hypnotized live. It was a fifteen minutes process just to get them to relax and be open to suggestion. My problem with the bus scene here is that Derren sneaks up behind the dude and whispers something gently in his ear. Like two words.
