The great among the greatest Mr. Antonio Carlos Brasileiro De Almeida Jobim. This man wasn´t human because humans don´t write music as beautifully as he did and we were lucky to have him with us on this planet.
I think it's those who have suffered who create this complex sound called music that transports the soul. This slips in and out of classic but just stays on this side of the rope. Not by much and so it will cross over and become symphony some day.
Soy uruguayo y esto es maravilloso! Tom Jobim is one the best musicians of XX One of the best in the world. And it is a wonderful peerformance with this excellente american jazz musicians Wonderful! Daniel, from Uruguay
This is a very elite grouping of American jazz stars with the father of bossa nova, Tom Jobim. Gorgeous solo by Joe Henderson. Nice try by Al Foster, but there are very few American drummers who can capture the authentic "sway" of Brazilian rhythms. You need to listen to Paulo Braga, Duduka Da Fonseca or Rafael Barata to feel the difference in pulse. I have never seen this video and it is marvelous to have captured these important artists on the same stage. Thanks for the post.
Nice try Al Foster? Give me a break. Al played the bossa groove with taste and beauty. I personally know Duduka and Paolo Braga.. they would be the first yo tell you you’re mistaken
I particularly love Brazilian music, Latin music, American music, and world music, as wide spectrum band of choices in my musical taste. But, what I love the most is jazz, bossa nova and Cuban salsa. These type of music are the highest in the degree of instrumental performance and voice challenges. I call them the music of the masters, as not any given musician or performer could venture to play these kind of music, swiftly and smoothly head, and yet, extremely difficult to execute the pieces on the entirety. They are of high level. I admire the music and the performers alike.
Gracias por esta sesion, pues no la conocia y yo tambien soy un gran admirador de ACJ. Si en el mundo escucharamos mas estas maravillas tendriamos mas paz. Linda sesion. '
great attention paid to the composers intent whether he's there or not. performed by all great musicians and singers of the time. it means the music now has a life of it's own. now it's an orphan. who will adopt it next ? great american music.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING MR. VINICIUS PEREIRA: I AM IN LOVE WITH BRAZILIAN BOSSA SINCE 1962; I WAS 9 YRS. OLD!!!!!!!!ANYWAY, IT IS SOOOOOOOOOO FANTASTIC, LOVE U FROM SAN DIEGO, CA
Parabens Vinicius Pereira pelo bom gosto de postar este video. E sempre bom rever Tom Jobim fazendo sucesso no exterior e acompanhado destas "FERAS". Rio, 26/08/2013 - Cley cormack
@Carehuea Haha! Remember when Pat wore those short shorts in the late 80's, early 90's? Would have been real funny if Pat wore those shorts w/ the tux top! LOL!
Joe smoked it. Talk about playing to the context of the tune. So many guys would try and over-play to pose, spoiling the whole musical experience. He focussed on tone and kept it sweet with plenty of panache in the right places at the right time. Masterful!
I don't understand your comment sir. if it were me, I'd press the re-play icon on the lower left of the screen, (advance it to 1:25) and listen through to (5:28. After that, I would repeat step 1. yes, yes indeed...that is what I would do.
