Years ago, there was an article in the NY Times about never released video footage of Miles Davis in the studio during the recording of Kind Of Blue. The video was available on this new website called RU-vid. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. RU-vid has made it possible to travel through time. Stan and Chet are no longer with us, but RU-vid just took me to Stockholm in 1983 to see them live. Art never dies or gets old... It's just waiting to be rediscovered. Thanks for posting.
Stan and Chet at their finest. It' s almost a miracle how Chet was able to play like with visibly so much broken. But his melody lines seem to stay so pure.
In the record review of Stan Getz' album, "Quintessence Vol 1", with Chet Baker (by the Allmusic Guide to Jazz, 4th ed.)... these two absolutely hated each other, musically and personally. So whatever harmony evidenced here... was presumably a great acting job by both.
coming back from office, having lost quite a sum of money on future option contracts, so what? i fix myself a drink and relax with Chet Baker while neon lights go on and off and all losses are smoothly being washed away, on this very rainy day. Many thanks for sharing this beautiful song
I saw him only for one concert in Chateauvallon (France, near Toulon) in 1977 ? don't remember exactly but impossible to forget him : a giant of the tenor sax ! for me the best in the world without hesitation. He was just a genius.
I had concert tickets to see Stan Getz, and then he passed away. Somehow I missed Chet Baker until Laufey started talking about him. What an amazing artist. Yes RU-vid is a gift.
