The mayor is more concerned about tone/language than the actual problem. I’m quite sure the employees and owner of the 7/11 that got looted would disagree with his approach. So it isn’t mob action when a large group of people gather and commit crime according to him.

It’s funny how he speaks so calmly and confidently at this juncture in his term. He believes at this point that he can make an impact with his initiatives. What he doesn’t understand is that progressive policies and fatherless communities will continue to exacerbate the situation, not improve it. As the years pass, his calm resolve will deteriorate as those policies manifest chaos with him still believing they will work.

As a major shareholder in a funeral home in the area, I can say that business has never been better. Crime is good for the economy. Because of the high murder rate and the dividends I received last month, I ordered a Corvette ZR1 for my daughter's sweet 16 birthday 🎂🎈. I cannot wait to see her face when she sees it. We live in a gated community with private security, so we are not effected by crime like the little people.

The mayor seems like he's ignorant or dishonest and conflating unruly mobs with mafia and organised crime. It reminds me of my father saying "Democracy is mob rule." and my young mind thinking of cartoonish gangsters running roughshod in the city.
Mayor Johnson, and all Illinois Democrats really, need to learn how to answer questions and speak publicly without being so confrontational and condescending. Moderates like me are watching and walking away in droves and even saying that gets you judgmental attacks from my state rep and senator's office. We're in the midwest, we're supposed to be the nice ones. What happened to us, folks? Be nice.
