Sadly, it’s taking me FOREVER to get one listing a day doing everything manually one at a time!!!!!! I’m starting to feel overwhelmed and burnt out! Oh My Gosh...I just found you and you are by far the most comprehensive teacher and your slideshows are gorgeous and informative! I'm hooked and subscribed and probably joining your Patreon group soon (when I can afford it) I do have a question though...I have 100 listings and NONE of them were done the way you teach. The first 50 or so don't even count because the design aspect is awful! So, do I stop every bit of progress racing because we are now in Q4 and go back and redo everything or do I just move forward with the proper foundation that you teach? I REALLY hope you see this because I have been so lost til now and FINALLY found someone who provides answers to questions I have had all along. You are just awsome Mandy!

Thank you for being here! I would set the older listing renewals to manual (you can bulk edit in Etsy) and then let those past ones expire whenever they hit that renewal date after 4 months. You can always take another look at them over time, but for the most part keep moving forward. Assess your more recent listings to see if they’re getting visits/favorites and if there are any opportunities for quick wins in terms of title updates. Here is another video that can help identify some key areas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JhWQZgglcsY.htmlsi=6XeBwLvzkiR6Hq_8 Keep going- you got this! 💪🏼💪🏼

Hey Mandy, just wanted to share a quick word of caution I came across recently when sourcing graphics from Creative Fabrica that was shared in another POD group. The seller had received a copyright infringement notification from Etsy for an image she had downloaded from CF. After verifying that the image that she was using did indeed have Full POD rights and an active license key, she reached out to the artist directly who advised her that CF has repeatedly allowed their imagery to be uploaded and sold by unauthorized users. With each new incident, Creative Fabrica will remove the image at the artist's request, but does not notify anyone who has purchased/downloaded the image, and does not deactivate the license keys, so there is no way for us to know when we are using stolen images. She went on to say that while the artist was understanding, they were also within their rights to file for copyright infringement and her violation will remain in place with nothing that can be done about it. She also said that she was sure that Creative Fabrica can, and does, offer images that are appropriately and legally sourced and licensed, she just wanted everyone to be aware of this issue in case it comes up for anyone. I guess the take away from this is: when using CF reach out to the artist if possible, and ask the question to be sure? Not like this probably happens regularly to those that are doing their due diligence when sourcing graphics, but would imagine this frustrating to deal with when you think you're doing everything right, and then you still get tagged for something that was out of your scope of control. I have personally not started with CF yet, but was wanting to add them to my arsenal of design tools. You've clearly been using them for some time, and have nothing but good to say about them, as do many others. Will most likely still use CF, but her words of caution have given me pause....Happy Designing Everyone!
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco Год назад
Yeah, unfortunately this can happen with many platforms that are also like Creative Fabrica. It’s going to be nearly impossible to check in all cases, but I also take steps to change the designs that I get from CF as well (colors, additional elements, etc) so that they are never as-is. If you’re selling products on Etsy, their terms of service also require that you make changes to the design as well in order for it to qualify under the handmade designation. A lot of people ignore that, but I always try to reiterate the importance of originality as much as possible! 🤓

Great video, Mandy. I have a sub niche store, so I have a specific audience and I love designing stuff for it. My challenge is finding mock ups for my shirts as I use only organic product. So like you mentioned in your video, I have to be super careful because the pink in MY shirt is not the same as the pink in the Bella Canvas for example. Same with hoodies - the one that I use has different front pocket than all of the mockups I see as I scroll on Etsy. It's frustrating. I do like to use the same model though in my mockup for the ladies tshirts (cohesive). I like having a variety, too. I do like a good flatly though, but I don't like them with anything other than the shirt. I also have several hacks - I will flip the mock up (If it's a flat lay of a white tshirt with the knot on the left, I flip the photo in reverse to have the knot on the right.) Or even lifestyle ones. I spread them out on the main page to blend in and so it doesn't look repetitive. I won't do this though if someone is wearing a watch - that will just look weird - lol. I crop in on my thumbnails, too.
@wephotogal

I also have to go to Photoshop and take out the maker label in the mock up if it is showing.

Hi Mandy! Your content is amazing, thank you so much! Quick question: I know you said that we need to combine different "elements" on Canva in order to make it our own and avoid trademark infringement and such. Are fonts included in "elements"? What if I created a shirt for example that just says "chillin'" using one of the Canva fonts with nothing else on the shirt (assuming the word "chillin'" isn't already trademarked)? Thank you!

Canva recently updated the timer area so it sometimes gets hidden. When you’re in your Canva mockups, look for a little arrow pointing upward at the bottom of your screen. Click that, then click on the Duration button that appears. The timer button in the top should now be visible like the video shows 🤓

This was a great video, on the bonus section tho I am super stuck. I have my mockups, but there is no "Animate" or time to edit, only Position. I'm probably missing something super simple, but having trouble finding the steps. Also it's possible Canva has changed since you made this video and the option moved??
@aallred00
@aallred00 10 месяцев назад
I think I figured it out. For some reason if the page is completely covered, I can't select the "page" itself, so I don't see the option. My solution was I added an 11th page, and from there I can apply the animation timer to all pages. Testing adding my store logo on the final page, or when I download I'll just not include it. Again, thanks so much for this video, super helpful in getting a batching mindset.

Hi Mandy! Thanks for the great video. When you do your dog graphics and mockups, how do you handle the different breeds, I'm sorry if I missed this in your video. So do you do one listing for say "mom of a german shepherd," and then a whole other listing for "mom of a corgi"? So you would have each listing for each breed? Or is there just one listing with a personalized option? Does that make sense?
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco Год назад
I typically focus each listing on a breed so that I can get the most out of related keywords, and then I also divide my shop into sections by breeds for additional SEO. I do have a couple of listings specific to personalization as well, but the broader "dog mom" listings (even those with personalization) definitely don't get as much traction due to the higher competition that's already out there. Designing for specific breeds may mean a slightly smaller audience, but my listings for those are going to rank much higher because the competition is lower :)

awesome video! the only thing I did notice that wasn't talked about but may be a dumb question.... I seen that your mockup choices at the end were linked to different colors within etsy. do these mockup images that you buy from sellers list what color the shirt is in their mock ups? If so that makes sense but I find it hard to find exact links to color on some of these mock ups ive used in the past ill probably just have to go the route of buying from a seller as well
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco Год назад
There are no dumb questions :) And yes, when I buy from Etsy sellers they indicate the brand and color of the mockup, and then when I list the item I link the color selection to the corresponding mockup that I've created with the design so that a customer has an idea of what the design will look like on that color. I generally avoid using general mockups when possible, since the final product can look different when the customer receives it (and if the fit/style is too different, could result in a bad review).

So you create your title and product description in Printify as opposed to doing them in Etsy? Because you can't batch add them to Etsy otherwise?
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco 2 месяца назад
You can do it in Etsy but because I’m starting the product in Printify it’s faster to start with an existing product (that I’ve already used for a previous listing) - it already has 90% of what I need for product info, so I duplicate it, make updates, and publish. Either way is fine, I just find this process more efficient 🤓

Hi Mandy! I'm going through your course (love it by the way) and I'm running into an issue that's thrown me for a loop. I'm using canva to make my designs. My design space is 4500 x 5400 px. When I upload the png file to Printful the dpi is 750dpi. But when I move on to the mockup stage in Printful the image is blurry. Now, I'm not going to use the printful mockups, but I'm worried if that means my design will show up blurry even though the print quality says good. Have you run into that issue?
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco Год назад
I’m so glad you’re here! 🥰 Yes, it’s not uncommon for mockup generators to look less than ideal - as long as your image looks clear in Canva and you’re not getting any sort of resolution warning in Printful then you should be fine on the final product 😊

In the beginning to scale fast as a new shop, not necessarily. I do plenty of research ahead of time and try to make sure I’m putting together good designs. I’m also using them across a variety of niches, so some designs will resonate better with certain niches. But the only way for me to know that (and faster) is to get some volume into the marketplace. Smaller numbers can definitely still sell, but it’s going to take a lot longer because it’s fewer opportunities to get seen. Nowadays Etsy is a volume game and the more I have out there, the more the data I have to work with and learn from 🤓

@studiomdesignsco Год назад
It’s not required, I just find the extra mockups helpful. Some sellers just use a color chart which is perfectly acceptable. I recommend experimenting with reducing your color options to 6 or so - beyond that, there’s a retail psychology theory that customers get decision fatigue (meaning too many choices make it too hard for them to decide, they leave to “think about it”, but then don’t come back). Just a theory, but it’s part of why I streamline the options I offer 😊

I commented on another video recently asking if you do mentorships. Once again, I would love to work with you. May I contact you on IG or something? I so appreciate the high-value free content that you provide, but I would love to dive deeper with you.

I'm so glad we were able to connect via email! I wanted to respond here too for others that have questions - I currently don't have an individual mentorship offering due to my limited time capacity. I do have my Patreon group that contains additional resources that I've created (and members can also message me directly there), but I do also have some exciting projects that I'm working on and hope to be able to share more soon for those who have been asking for "more" from me :) I SO appreciate you being here!
