Certainly not the video I expected from you but certainly one I enjoyed a lot! Never seen Designated Survivor nor do I know anything about it, but you argued your points super well and in a way I found engaging. The transparency of what really drives these kinds of audience reactions would be hilarious if it weren't so vomit-inducing. I still don't think Designated Survivor would be a show I'm interested in picking up (never have been a fan of the "people in suits walk down halls" brand of TV), but you certainly gave it more interest for me than I would've had for it otherwise. Nicely done!

Hey, thanks! To be clear, if this ain't your type a show, I'd by no means go out my way to recommend you watch it. On a moment-by-moment basis it's usually just good enough with occasional moments of greatness (and, on the other side of the coin, season two). It usually hit a comfortable rhythm which kept me engaged, but it doesn't do much to draw in viewers who wouldn't already be drawn in by its premise. What you see is what you get, and what you get is Kiefer Sutherland. The primary reason it had such staying power with me is, well, (insert entire video here). And hey, now I've just discovered your content and wishing I'd done so sooner! Really liking History of Magical Girls so far! It's filling gaps in my knowledge that I'm a tad bit embarrassed exist, so yeah.

I’m glad a show is using it’s trans characters as a story telling mechanic to introduce new subjects and obstacles to progress the story instead of just showing a trans character and saying look we are diverse because we a have a character who’s only personality trait is being trans instead of taking the time to make a trans character fit into the narrative in which they can stand on there own. I’ve only really seen shows use lgbtq to appeal to a wider audience instead of using those characters narratively to include the wider audience.

I watched the show and enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. I think the thing that upset me the was that I was expecting more conspiracies as to what happened with the capital bombing and the first lady’s death which was what mostly made up seasons 1 and 2. But in reality season 3 just felt like people shoving social issues down your throat with a bad ending.

I didn't even make it past the first season 3 episode, it felt as though all the momentum of the season 2 final had been summed up as "oh that happened before, we skipped ahead". This isn't the first time I've had an issue with lazily using this as an excuse to not fill out what they promised. I enjoyed the show none the less

Yeah, the idea that Kirkland was a centrist is kind of a joke. Indeed, while I was watching the show, what turned me off is that every other episode felt like a "very special episode", where some character basically turned to camera and made the case for a liberal or progressive cause. I'm very much on the left, but it felt... rather preachy? Probably not for me.
