Besides the weird story choices, what drove me nuts in this show were the costume design. Everybody looked like they just walked out of a very obscure cosplaying event.
I know this is old, but I'd argue episode 9 has a lot more to it. This show in general uses every small story to explore human flaws, this episode was no different. I think Selena's line about being abused could have been left grey intentionally to leave it in the air if it's a lie or not like the original plot twist. I also think it's intentional that abused or not the actions displayed here are extreme and abnormal. Furthermore, I don't think Estelle is considered a hero here either way and is very flawed paralleling our protagonist Elaina. This is revealed at the end when after running away leaving the bleeding out anemic Estelle and the money to go cry about the overwhelming emotions, Eliana thinks of how she couldn't prevent the tragedy from occurring to both of the girls again. This overall episode may also be a comment on wanting to change the past. There definitely are real flaws in the portrayal of this episode that could've been handled with more tact and less over the top dramatization, but a chunk of this is typical adaptation flaw as the source material provides so much more nuance on the characters and protagonist throughout the whole series (it also continues and develops much longer). Overall though, I think this story at times has more to it then it presents on the surface and I actually like the premise of such on unconventional MC who is the opposite of altruistic (at least to some degree and to start).
Fans: Spyro 1 has "no" story! The Legend of Spyro tries to incorporate story, drama, STUFF! Fans: The Legend of Spyro has TOO MUCH STORY! Yup! Happened with Sonic fans too! They were complaining that "Sonic takes himself too seriously! He shouldn't talk! Sonic's stupid friends!" And now, after a decade of Pontac and Graff's braindead writing, fans are begging Sega to have a story that will keep you awake, instead of jokes that put kindergarteners to sleep.
Growing up is realising that the seccond game is the weakest one. When I replayed the trilogy I realised how tedious some of its mechanics are. Not a bad game, but it just doesnt hit as hard as the other two
You didn’t fail technically tbh you didn’t get balls yet. Also man I will say the first rule I learned was that all zubats have giga drain lol so this was funny to see 😂
Between this and Homare's arc in Hugtto, it feels like Precure subscribes to a "Barbie doll feminism" - you can do anything... as long as you look conventionally attractive while you do it. It makes sense as, like Barbie, they ultimately want to sell toys. But it is a little sad.
I was cringing every time Tyranno said G-nasty G-norc. The g is silent, and the only character to say it as G-nasty G-norc was the interviewer (Bob) on the first cut scene. Everyone else called him Gnasty Gnorc with silent g. Only one character said it with the guh sound at the beginning. Check every dragon and cut scene, and you will see that only Bob pronounced it G-nasty G-norc.
I am guessing you didn't grow up with the original game. What you need to remember is this game was designed for 90s kids who had no issues whatsoever spending all of their time in one level. Your issue with Cliff Town is the problem with the current gaming world. Nobody wants inconvenience and nobody has the mental fortitude to go a few minutes without cheating and "looking it up". These games were designed for kids to think outside the box and test the boundaries of their environment. Spyro 1 is my favourite. Always will be. Blinded by nostalgia and proud.
So as far as that first "loss". It IS generally accepted (( outside the hardcore crowd )) that the run doesn't start until you have access to pokeballs.
Did we even watch the same show? These are some really bad takes, I know this video is really old but I just re watched the show and absolutely loved every second of it.
I really love this show, but i will admit, nestolgia really clouded my judgement. Even when i originally watched it, there were definately some scenes that made me uncomfortable.
If I had a nickle for every time there was a long running Toei superhero show who's anniversary seasons gimmick was using cards to change outfits I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but its weird that it happened twice. And a shame Happiness Charge didn't also use their ability to use previous Precure Powers
Stephen king said once something like... I create characters make you care about them then turn the monsters loose. The dome made chesters mill into a 7 day bottle episode.
That pre cure anime is the reason why other pre cure anime exist. That magical girls even a thing from some anime now that like referenced to pre cure also.
Late to this but commenting anyway, I binged the shit out of these precure videos an I loved them. I never seen the show, idk where to watch them all, an I hope some day that this channel comes back for the newer seasons, I looked it up, as of right now there are 20 or 21 seasons?
I could be wrong, but for the gem placement behind the start in cliff town, i want to say from certain points, from a distance, you see the gem shine. It's a moment that teaches you to look around for those hints for later levels. I think you were just in the wrong spot to see the hint where they were.
It was insinuated that it was a tv interview through the use of the boom mic. The idea was that gnasty gnorc was watching from his world on a tv of some sort. His name is spelt Gnasty Gnorc but is pronounced Nasty Norc. Surprised you brought up how you can get lost in the first hub world of the first game. Never see people ask for games to be more linear rather than open before? It gives the player freedom. You spawn at a dragon statue who tells you what to do. If you go to the balloonist he tells you what he needs to fly to next hub world. It doesn't take long for people to realize that they can go into the portals into other worlds and collect gems and eggs there. As for cliff town, the boundary is clearly marked with poles to signify that it is the area you can't proceed beyond. It wasn't stopping you from going behind the first building. Finding these secret areas were half the fun of the old spyro games
I could be the hundredth person to call out that you missed the joke at the beginning of part one and that the opening cut scene was very clearly a TV interview. But that would be redundant, wouldn’t it?
Yeah the whole thing with Shizuru I keep wiping from my head and is why I skip most of the episodes in the second half. I wish that the HIMEs stayed together as a team instead of turning against each other. I didn't like that kind of drama. If they ever do bring the franchise back I hope that they focus more on the action and mystery than the melodrama. Funnily enough that is also the same issue that holds back Gundam. Sunrise just insists of putting that in there even though it doesn't really benefit the story.
