I count shoes when I run , not officially but for fun. It's amazing that different cities run in different promenade brands. Some cities love Brooks, some Hoka etc.

Another great episode with really good information. The show review is on the money, please keep that up! I would like to know your thoughts on the optimal stack height, cushion, foam, etc. for a "lower stack" shoe (non super shoe), plus a few examples. The Mach review really helped. Another responder mentioned the DS trainer, which I always liked. And, I love the old school shoe reviews. I can remember the old Nike trainers that had a waffle sole, a slab of EVA and another wedge slab on top to raise your heel up a few millimeters. We have come a long way!

Really happy to see TPU (and hopefully TPEE) not being left behind. PEBA is great, but there are other ways to do this thing.

Agreed. PEBA based foams have become the gold standard but we are starting to see different applications of TPU and TPEE that will hopefully shake things up over the coming years. -Connor

Great work all! I absolutely LOVE this podcast! Great job in covering lots of details without overwhelming. I listen to just the audio version and don't feel like I am missing a lot as you give great detail. Might I suggest that you adjust the audio levels? Overall the podcast is really low compared to others I listen to, and the levels between the guests sometimes is considerably different, causing adjusting to hear all sides. Certainly this is not a take-way from the overall work and product you have. Great job and keep up the good work!

Glad you are enjoying Jerry! We will take a look at the audio levels with our team and see if we can improve upon this in the future. -Connor

@@runningwarehouse Thank you for the quick reply. Again, LUV the work you all are doing both online and the podcast. Could I ask that you give a quick overview of the plans frequently talked about e,g, tempo repeats, hills, etc. Often these are sailed through as most know the drills, but I am looking for specifics of the plans that most coaches are using and am failing to get the nuts/bolts. I am older runner that has a good base and just need a little more in every category and think a more solid regimented trainingn plan would get me there. And I realize that some of devile is in the details of these plans. Thx again!!!!!!!

Are the Mach and Rebel really in a category of their own? What about the Sinister and the shoe you mentioned being made for Japan (I don't remember what brand you said - maybe Puma)? Would you say they're in low, non-plated racing (as opposed to training) category?
@runningwarehouse
@runningwarehouse 2 месяца назад
Yes I would say two different categories. Mach and Rebel will be in the fast peformance trainer category with superfoam and no plate. The sinister is a true racer. It's even lower to the ground, much more stripped down upper, narrower net bases, and much more aggresive design. It truly is tuned for racing, especially at shorter distance. The Rebel and mach are fast and efficient over any distance but still feel really comfortable for daily training. -Connor

@@runningwarehouse Seems right. That Rebel category used to have more entries before everything got thicker and taller. Zante comes to mind. Seems DS Trainer was intended to be used similarly too. Light fast trainer without a whole lot underfoot. Of course many shoes from back then wouldn't test well compared to today's Mach and Rebel. I think I'm going Rebel to fill the role some of those others had years ago.

Do you know why Hoka discontinued with the evo version of the speed goat? The evo is comparatively better than the last three offerings- how have they not got ahead yet? Oh and when brands add weight to a model- do you guys screw your faces up as well:-)?
@JoeRubio-zw3hy
@JoeRubio-zw3hy 2 месяца назад
HOKA pivoted to the "X" designation - higher stacks, some sort of advanced foam, carbon plate. Doubt the EVO models will return any time soon. Keep an eye on future Mafate models, we saw them the other day and they look very good. As far as weight gains, yeah we're not a fan. Joe
