Do you have way too many cables than you know what to do with? Are you settling for keeping them in a horrendous blob in a drawer, left to hunt for five minutes when you just need to charge your phone? Me too!!! Check out my solution!
you need: 1. an open form with pegs so you wrap up wires. like the side of an upright vacuum cleaner. coiling is time consuming, difficult to do neatly, and you'll inevitably get lazy. 1a. closed tubes do provide strength, but it seems you's save (print) time and filament by using dowels or even popsicle sticks held together by a printed frame. this would also provide strength for an open form. 2. clips on top to hold and display each end so you know what the wire is 3. not as vital, but if you printed a bunch of numbered coins, you can have a recepticle on top to drop in a coin to tell you how long the cable is. 4. I don't really know the variety of USB cables, but I know some can't power 5v devices, so you might want additional coins for describing the wire. 5. what about transformers?
You did a great job on your video kid. I picked up my phone and the screen was on your video. I have no clue how it got there but I watched it till the end. Good job.
Love this project :) Do it again for copic length and it'll take off for exactly the amount of work it takes you to change the length to be appropriate ;) You're going to want that patent soon. Or keep it open source and let the internet love it freely :)
Haven't got around to posting them publicly so I'm currently only selling to local friends and family, but I hope to get there eventually on Etsy/Thingiverse or something when I have time to do it properly!
Uploading files for this and other projects is something on my to-do list; There's so many things I'm not sure when I'll have time to think about it all, but that is something I hope to do!
I've thought about it; I hesitated to upload this because of how much detail it shows but I figure I'll leave it here for a bit, and if nobody's claimed it by the time I get to a point where I can patent it then I will, and if someone beat me to it I'll just make it an open-source project like some similar things I've seen
Can you let me know if you are planning to sell it online or sell the soft copy for personal use. its been three years, please do update me what you have in mind.
I just mentioned this project in my latest video! I haven't forgotten, just been busy with more urgent things. It takes a big chunk of time to sort out the logistics of setting up a whole online store, because this isn't the only thing I want to share/sell. It's my goal to have it up this year :)
Autodesk Inventor Professional :) I'm using their free education access which has been awesome because it's renewable as long as you're a student. Might need to find something different when I'm out of school though...
